The student would like to focus on drawing self portraits using a variety of materials, including pencil, charcoal, oil pastel and ink. They are asked to experiment drawing on different surfaces like plastic, wood, linen, glass, cardboard and paper. Examples of drawings done in different materials by the student and their art class in Korea are provided. The student is asked to start making self portrait drawings using a mirror and different materials, noting their impressions of using softer materials like linen where color is more vibrant.
