Chief Executive Officer, A. Harrison Barnes, as he talks about the importance of being present and totally focused in your job. You need to be present in life and in your career and feel a connection to your work.
Employers Want to Hire You - Belive in this when you go to the InterviewEmployment Crossing
You need to believe when you go for an interview that employers want to hire you. People go into interviews with a predefined notion that employers may not really like them.
Commitment is key to any form of success. You should not do any sort of job that your heart is not in and that you cannot be committed to. Without a strong commitment you will not have the success you desire.
The definition of a referral has become extremely diluted today. Most sales lingo generalizes different types of lead generation and unfortunately groups together terms because they seem similar. Terms like introduction and word of mouth buzz are explained to be the same as a referral. But nothing could be further from the truth.
Never, Ever Fib or Push the Truth on Your Resume or in an InterviewEmployment Crossing
EmploymentCrossing CEO, A. Harrison Barnes, discusses the importance of never telling a lie on your resume or in an interview:
The most important thing to remember when you are interviewing for a job is that while qualifications and past work experience are very important, the main point of an interview is not to pick those apart, it is to judge whether you and your personality are a good fit for the given employer. After all, your qualifications have already been deemed satisfactory—that’s why you were offered an interview!
Lying to an interviewer, either in person or on your resume, will only harm you. If and when a lie is uncovered, the damage will be irreparable. Not only will you appear dishonest, but you will likely come across as insecure as well. As a general matter, insecurity does not make most people likable to employers.
EmploymentScape Chief Executive Officer, A. Harrison Barnes believes that communicating our value is something we all must do to get jobs and also to keep our jobs. One of the biggest mistakes people make when interviewing for jobs (or in their current jobs) is failing to communicate their value frequently and in detail. It's extremely important that you communicate with your company and supervisors at all times.

Don’t Be Persuaded by Others Who Tell You How to do Your Job SearchEmployment Crossing
EmploymentCrossing CEO, A. Harrison Barnes, discusses the importance of not being persuaded by others regarding the way you carry out your job search:
When you are looking for a job, as with most things in life, you know better than anyone else what works for you. You should not let other people tell you not to try some method just because they don’t personally like it, or because they think another method is better for some reason or another. While someone else’s method may be great, you should not follow it and ignore other options. Instead, the most prudent and most productive path to take is to heed others' advice and try other methods, but don’t stop doing something or never try something just because another method works better for someone else.
What it boils down to is that you need to be inclusive, rather than exclusive. You need to work every angle and try every method you can think of in order to carry out a successful job search. Do not foreclose on potential opportunities by letting other people convince you not to try everything possible to get the job you want.
The time to prepare for interviews and a job search is before you even think of getting into the job search mode. Being a good employee and a job searcher is something that takes the same amount of time and effort to achieve.
This presentation will help you to replace the nervous anxiety that comes over a person before an interview with the understanding that you have a plan of action for the interview.
Who Am I….I am a hardworking guy who, like many others, found himself out of work during the economic downturn in 2010. After a long battle of wrong turns, job search strategies that led to no where, and dead end leads, I decided to take a more strategic approach to my job search. Like anything else in life, I needed to treat my search like a full-time job and create a plan that would allow me to stand out above the competition. This came in especially handy as I was in transition again in 2017. Basically, I just used the tips that I have shared with others and was out of work a total of ZERO days. Yes, I got a job offer the day after my last day at my previous job. Let me show you how I did it so you too can have a quicker landing than you would have had without my tips.
Why Am I Sharing What Helped Me…because I quickly realized that to handle an event like that is to focus on what you can control and share the experience to help others. I believe that an experience not shared is a lost opportunity in life, and that smart people learn from their mistakes and smarter people learn from other people’s experiences. Plus, I told myself that once I figured this out I would share it with others so that they too could navigate the world of unemployment. In these chapters, I show you how I did it so that you will have the confidence to make it through the process. I hope that this presentation helps you to get your next great job.

The biggest achievers in our world are the people who are not afraid to act and are not afraid of criticism. Acting and going forward in the face of "criticism" is something that really separates the winners and the losers of the world.
To succeed in the terms you have set for yourself, you need to look out for, and operate in, an environment that is strong and very demanding from you in terms of work.
In life and in career, most people seek to improve, get traction and stay in the game. No one wishes to slip and fall and yet all, at some point or another do.
Be Someone Who is Engaged with Work, Not Someone Who Avoids WorkEmployment Crossing
Those who are constantly avoiding work will never amount to anything and will never go ahead in life. Their life will be marked by frustration and pain.

Do not plunge into something as important as a new job before investing enough time in researching and learning more about the work required, the people you will work with, and the environment.
You need to decide for yourself which method works best for you. An alternate to this exists as well; you can choose to let things remain the way they are.
It is important for every individual to realize that nobody else is going to be as concerned for your career as you yourself. Because of this reason, it becomes much more important to protect your ability to earn your living.
You need to defend yourself against bullies and make sure they are not successful in their efforts. You are a valuable individual with special talents.

Are You Here? The Importance of Being Present in Your Job and Job Search
1. Are You Here? The Importance of being Present In Your Job and Job Search
2. What Makes Someone Successful In His or Her Career? When it comes down to it, I believe one of the greatest determinants of success is whether or not you are “here.”
3. “ Being Here” Takes Two Forms… The most obvious is to be here physically. Coming into the office each day and going through the motions is the most basic way to “be here” and the minimum requirement for success. An example of “being here” for a salesperson would be coming into the office and making a certain number of cold calls each day. If this is done, and nothing more, the salesperson will experience some degree of success. However, in all likelihood the success will be mediocre.
7. I Found That… I was more likely to place the candidates I took the time to get to know and understand. Conversely, for virtually every candidate I did not place, I was typically guilty of not being fully present with him or her. I simply went through the motions with my submissions and hoped something good would come from that alone. Sure, that approach had worked for me a few times, but rarely was success that simple. When absently going through the motions one can hardly expect to produce meaningful results.
8. You Need To Present In Life And In Your Career… Feel a connection to your work. You need to be engrossed in what you are doing, and feel the passion and energy that comes from that. This breeds career longevity and success. The more you are “here,” the more you are also likely to keep your job when companies go through transitions or downsizing. If you are “here,” you may even find yourself getting a promotion, even in the most unlikely of times.
9. Several Years Ago… I gave a lengthy speech about the importance of legal recruiting. At the time, I was very concerned about instilling passion in the recruiters who worked for me and showing them the value of this at all costs. Passion changes things. I wanted them to believe in what they were doing, and the people they were doing it for. I wanted them to help their candidates to the greatest extent possible.
10. After The Speech… I overheard one lady speaking to another, and she said something I will never forget: “ I would rather work for a place that cares about what it is doing and takes it really seriously, than work at a place that does not.”
11. This Stuck With Me… I think we all want to be surrounded by passion for what we do. Time and again you hear about how important it is to love what you do. Passion and commitment are attributes people notice. They help build careers. Your boss or future employer wants to see that you love what you are doing. If an employer is deciding to hire one person over another they are likely to hire the person who connects to his or her work, instead of one who does not. If an employer is deciding to lay off one person over another, they are likely to keep the person who is passionate over the person who is not.
12.
13. Any Person Who Truly Wanted To Get Clear Of The Crime… They had been accused of, would almost always choose Attorney B. The person who is “here” will always win over the person who is not. We want enthusiasm and commitment. We want presence.
