- 3. M A ST E R ’ S THESIS WORK Residential building energy analysis and optimization pro- cess is proposed for the Hous- ing Development Administra- tion of Turkey. The project was approved with honerary grad. of 2021 Building Location Info: 1- EXISTING SITUATION: The existing building’s charac- teristics are analyzed, then the areas of each building element of its exterior envelope are cal- culated, to find out the energy heat loss values of its envelope materials, then the method in Turkish Standards is applied to figure its annual heat energy requirement. 1- Analysis result of the Existing situation: Energy spends : 58 kWh/m2year GasConsumption:26770m3/year CO2 Releases : 11 KgCo2/m2year ENERGY SAVINGS GAINED : 33% 2- Analysis result of the Proposed situation: Energy spends : 40 kWh/m2year GasConsumption:14355m3/year CO2 Releases : 7.5 KgCo2/m2year 2- PROPOSED SITUATION: According to the results of the existing situation analysis I proposed few changes to the building; such as Wall/Window ratio, building material insula- tion, window type insulation and others. Re-run the analysis for the new proposed situation to compare the two results. - 6. MAIN GOALS DENSITY High densitycity to waste as little surrounding land as possible, while still keeping recreational areas and varying building typologies for a pleasant residence. LOCATION The city should be located on a place concerning topography, future city expansion possibilities and connection to surrounding cities. Each location in the built up area should be in easily reachable. ADAPTABILITY The algorithm needs to be adaptable to different factors such as topography, connectivity to surrounding cities, city size, building typologies. METHODES CITY BOUNDARY Physically calculated city boundary to find the least sloped city area on the given location. NODE BASED FUNCTION DISTRIBUTION Functions in the city network are distributed using locational relations and importance tables between them. SPACE SYNTAX FOR DENSE DISTRICT DISTRIBUTION Betweenness values are being used to distribute residential and commercial typologies within the city. Syn City Designing Algorithms that helps to create 10k cities according to given existing data, these scripts will be useful for the 1 thousand emerging city in Ethiopia in the next 5 years.
