theircompetitioninthe lightandmotionfestivalinPutrajaya,namedLAMPU 2016. So I’ve been
calledtohelpintheirLightexhibitionmodelconstruction.Atthe endof the competitionwe’ve got
the thirdplace.In thisprojectI’ve seenandlearnwaysindoingmodelsandhow todesignplaying
withlightandshadows,whichIthinkit’sveryinspiringandinterestingthatwouldbe helpful inmy
future workand projects.
Week1
P17 RumahTeresFaçade Design
The firstprojectthat I wasgivenas an introductionwasarumah teresfaçade designinPrecint17
Putrajaya.I am required todesignthe façade accordingtothe client’srequirementbyusing
Sketchupforeasiervisualization.InthisprojectI’ve startedbuildingthe 3Dmodel fromthe drawings
fromAutoCADwhichisquite challengingasIam not usedto such complicatedconstruction
drawings.InthisprojectI thinkitwas a verygoodstart for me to get usedtobuilda model from
AutoCADdrawingsinSketchup,whichgavesme agoodfoundationinthe projectslateron.

2. KarismaApartmentMasterplanColoring
Afterthe façade designwasdone andreviewed,Iamthengiventhe jobto renderthe floorplanof
an apartmentwithmaterial andcolorto be presentedtothe client.Iam givenwiththe floorplansof
the apartmentand requiredtocolorthemto differentiate differentspaces,greensandfacilitiesin
the buildingusingPhotoshop.Thisisaverygoodexercise forme tolearnabouthow to prepare
presentationdrawingsthatismore interactive andclearthatclientscouldunderstandmore about
the buildinginsteadof justplainAutoCADdrawings.

4. Week2:
IJMMasterplanProposal,KuantanPahang
Thisisa masterplanproposal thatmyfirmisworkingon.The masterplanwaspreparedinAutoCAD
and nowit isrequiredtorenderitwithmaterialstobe presentedtothe clients.Hence,Iwasgiven
the job the photoshopthe materialsintothe floorplan.Insteadof justrenderingbuildinginterior,
masterplanrenderingsare alot harderand complicatedaswe needtorenderthe surrounding
contextas well.

5. Eco MajesticRumah Teres,Semenyih
In thisweekI’ve alsowenttosite inspectionwithmycolleague seniorArchitect,Mr.Malinja.We
wentall the way to Eco Majesticto inspectthe completionof RumahTeresunitsandcheckare they
complyingthe BuildingBy-Law.Thisisreallyeye openingandI’ve learntwhatthe requirementsare
whenwe designaresidentialhouse,whichwill be reallyhelpful forme indesigning.
In thisweekI’ve alsohelpedoutinpreparationof submissiondrawingsbyhelpingthemtoarrange
and foldthe drawingsforsubmission.

BP AndersonHouse renovationCADDrawing
I’ve tooka fewmore daysin week3to complete the IJMMasterplanproposal rendering,andafter
that I am givena jobthat isto produce an AutoCADdrawingof the before andafterrenovation
drawingsof a clientof the companybefore.InthisprojectI am requiredtodraw how the building
lookafterrenovationaccordingtothe phototakenat site. Inthis projectI’ve learnthow toread
AutoCADdrawingswhichissodetailedand complicated.More thanthat,I’ve alsolearnthow to
draw the componentsinhouseswithmore detailsandaccuracy.

6. Week4
PPA1MPrecint15 Proposal,Putrajaya
Aftercompletingthe renovationCADdrawing,I’ve givenataskto prepare a presentationdrawing
of a masterplanproposal fromAutoCADtoshow the differenttype of housingsandsurrounding
contextbyusingphotoshop.The projectiseasiercomparedtothe IJMas thisonlyrequiresnormal
coloringinsteadof insertingmaterialstoletitlookrealistic,whichisalsoagoodexercise forme in
doingPhotoshop.Ihave clearlyfeltmore usedandfasterindoingPhotoshopwhichdefinitely
speedsupmyefficiency.

7. Week4 & 5
IJMMasterplanMedical CenterbuildingProposal
Thistime inthisproject,IJMmasterplanproposal,Iamrequiredto designconceptof medical
centre inthe masterplan.Iamgivenguidelinesanddirectionsof how the buildingshouldlookand
functionas.The designshouldfittothe conceptGreenCarpetwhere itshouldbe a greenbuilding
witha lotof greeneriesthattheyhave a certainlinkage betweenotherbuildings inthe masterplan,
eitherinappearance orconnectivity.Thisisaverychallengingprojectforme to designabuildingin
such a bigscale althoughitonlyrequiresthe formandexteriorof the building.The Architect
NicholasKang(Headof company) hasreviewedmydesignafew timesandhe hadgivenalot

8. inspiringcommentsandadvice abouthow Ishoulddothe design.Afterafew modifications,I
stronglyfeltthe designchangesintosomethingmore logical andworkable,andof course more
interesting.
InthisprojectI’ve not onlyworkedonSketchupin3D modelling,I’ve alsolearnthow touse Lumion
6.0 to renderthe building.Thisisareallygoodopportunityandexercise forme tolearnrendering
usingLumionandI feltthat itis reallygoodanduseful formyfuture projects,inschool orwork.
Afterproducingthe 3D model andrenderingthe model byusingLumion,thenIproceedto
photoshoptofuture touchup the whole image byaddinglively-nessforexample humans,birds,and
etc to make the image lookrealisticandlively.

9. Week5 & 6
IJMMasterplan Proposal
Aftercompletingthe medical centre conceptrenderings,I’vethenneededtoproceedandredothe
renderingsforIJM’smasterplanas there are some changesindesign.Itdefinitelytookme along
time to redothe renderingsagainasthistime Iam requiredtodoitbetterand more visually
tempting.AfterAr.Kangreviewedthe renderinghe gave alotof commentas it wasn’tgoodenough,
like the focusare not strongenoughat the most importantthingsinthe masterplanand the
materialsare notsharp enough.Hence he gave me some advice andgave me anotherchance to
modifythe renderings.Afterthe changesandhe finallyacceptsthe product.InthisprojectI’ve
learntto be critical indoingpresentationdrawingswhere we needtoletthe clienttoknow whatare
we tryingto tell byjustusingour drawings.Thisprojectdefinitelyalsoenhancesmyphotoshopskills.

11. Week7

Week7 I am giventhe jobto produce the 3D of site planof P15 masterplaninPutrajayaforclient.I
am giventhe jobto firstlyprepare the AutoCADdrawingstobe readyfor 3D making.Thisisa good
exercise forme tolearnabouttransformingAutoCADto3D in Sketchup. Iam requiredtodelete all
the hiddenlinesandextrainformationinthe AutoCADdrawingssothat it won’taddextraloadfor
the 3D file.Afterdoingthe 3Dsite thenI am requiredtoarrange the housingunitsintothe plan. In
thisprojectI have knownthe importance of makingyourdrawingand3D model cleanandlessheavy
as whenwe dosuch a bigmasterplanproposal itwouldbe verytime consumingandhardfor your
computerto supportsucha heavyfile.

The lastweekof internshipIwasgivenanother tasktohatch the AutoCADdrawingof the master
planof PPA1MPrecint15, Putrajaya.Inthistask I am requiredtohatch the planinAutoCADwith
solidcolouraccordingto theircolourcode that issetto differentiate differentelementsinthe site,
such as road,type of housing,pedestrian,pondandetc.

12. Aftercompletingthe hatchingIam givenanothertasktocreate a listof schedule of numberof
housesandtype of housinginthe masterplan byusingMicrosoftExcel.

13. More thanthat, I’ve beenassignedtomodifythe drawingsthathaschangesaftersendingtothe
consultant.The taskallowsme to enhance myautoCADreadinganddrawingskills.

15. I’ve alsobeenassignedtodocalculationforbuildingventilationpercentageof aproject.Thisisthe
time that I hadthe chance to use what I’ve learntinmodule BuildingScience.InthistaskI had learnt
on howto calculate the percentage of openingsoverwall of abuildingthatitcompliesthe
requirementornot.
