The document discusses brain-computer interfaces (BCI), including early work developing algorithms to reconstruct movements from brain activity in the 1970s. It describes different types of invasive and non-invasive BCI approaches and various applications, such as providing communication assistance to disabled individuals or controlling prosthetics. Current BCI projects aim to allow thought-based control of devices or restore sensory functions through electrical brain stimulation. However, challenges remain as BCI technology is still in early stages with crude capabilities and potential ethical concerns require further exploration.
1. A brain-computer interface (BCI) allows direct communication between the brain and external devices, helping people with motor impairments and providing new functionality.
2. BCI can be invasive, using implants in the brain to detect high-quality signals, but these are prone to scar tissue buildup. Non-invasive BCIs use neuroimaging techniques but produce poorer signals.
3. Experiments have used EEG to detect brainwaves and allow people to type or control devices through thought. As detection techniques improve, BCI could provide more alternatives for people to interact with their environment.
1) Brain-computer interface is a direct communication pathway between the brain and an external device that reads brain activity without muscle movements and translates it into commands for computers and other devices.
2) The objective of BCI is to develop a fast and reliable connection between the brain of a severely disabled person and a personal computer to allow communication and control through thought alone.
3) BCI research has progressed from animal experiments to human trials, allowing paralyzed patients to control devices and communicate just by thinking. However, widespread adoption is still limited by challenges with sensor accuracy, information transfer rates, and system costs.

Mobile Telecoms Tech & Market Disruptions - April 2015 VersionDean Bubley
The next 5 years will bring huge changes to the mobile network industry. Network operators will see revenue and usage from voice telephony & SMS decline, while new communications apps will mostly be driven by context & design, not 3GPP standards.
4G networks will continue to be deployed, with 5G coming into view - but data traffic may not grow to the degree expected. WiFi is growing in important - but will only have limited integration with cellular. Net Neutrality concerns will continue to rumble - but most of the new "ideas" like paid priority or sponsored data will fail.
We will also see "multi-stakeholder" issues coming to the fore, where regulators will need to ensure the telecom industry encompasses the needs of users, venues, app developers, IoT companies, brands & Internet players. That said, attempts by Apple and Google to enter the cellular space with SIMs and MVNOs will remain niche

Audio video ethernet (avb cobra net dante)Jeff Green
AVB fits low-cost, small-form-factor products such as this microphone. The overall trend is that music no longer lives on shelves or in CD racks, but in hard drives in home computers, and increasingly in the cloud. This brings about its own unique problems, not in the encoding system used, or the storage technology, but in distributing the audio from the storage media to the speakers. AVB features are all enabled by a global and port level configuration. Connecting these elements is the AVB-enabled switch (in the graphic above, the Extreme Networks® Summit® X440.) The role of the switch is to provide support for the control protocols: AVB is Ethernet’s next stage of convergence, delivering pitch perfect audio and crystal clear video seamlessly over the network
IP/Ethernet is bringing simplicity and features to audio and video as it has brought to services like VoIP, Storage and many more
High quality, perfectly synchronized A/V until now has been difficult to maintain
Standards work by the IEEE and the AVB standard changes everything, creating interoperability and mass-marketing equipment pricing
Benefits of AVB - Delivers predictable latency and precise synchronization, maximizing the functionality of AV – time synchronization and quality or service
Reduced complexity and Ease of use through interoperability between devices
Streamlines complex network set-up and management, the Infrastructure negotiates and manages the network for optimal prioritized media transport
AV traffic can co-exist with non-AV traffic on same Ethernet infrastructure
Role based control at the XYZ Account - XYZ Account can identify devices and apply policies based on device type all the way down to the port and or the AP. Policies can dynamically change based on the device a user is connecting with and where that user is located. Extreme Networks provides infrastructure to deliver customizable prioritization and scalable capacity via configurable and built-in intelligence, ensuring a comprehensive, superior quality experience. Furthermore, when deployed with Extreme Wireless XYZ Account can configure the network to ensure applications receive the bandwidth they require, while still limiting or preventing high speed streaming of music of video or even games.

Planning For Success - Wireless Network Design, Analysis, and TroubleshootingSavvius, Inc
Watch the full OnDemand Webcast: http://bit.ly/wirelessnetworkdesign
Wireless networks are extremely flexible and cost-effective, but they are also highly complex, especially when the scale of the network is large. Wireless networks can no longer "grow organically". They require very careful planning, including a specific design that is verified and possibly modified based on empirical data before wide-scale implementation. They require rigorous testing prior to roll-out to ensure that the specified design achieves the desired goals. They require instrumentation for ongoing analysis and testing, immediately after roll-out to again ensure that design assumptions are correct, and throughout the entire lifecycle of the network, as even the best design is not fool-proof and detailed troubleshooting will be required along the way to properly manage the network. The best approach is to use an integrated set of products that work together to address the entire lifecycle, from preliminary design to live network monitoring to detailed troubleshooting and analysis. This is exactly what the joint solution from WildPackets and Ekahau achieves. This web seminar will walk you through the entire life cycle, using real products to address each step of the process.
In this web seminar, we will cover:
- Wireless network design and verification
- Pre-deployment analysis
- Real-time network analysis and troubleshooting
- Managing expanded usage
What you will learn:
1. How to use site survey software for design and verification
2. How to use network analysis software for monitoring and troubleshooting
3. How to use spectrum analysis software to confirm cases of interference
