convince a professor or even a "principal" that you are ready to get back into your classes
and no distractions will get in the way. I will attach a denied appeal letter to go off from
there and ways it could've been improved. Has to be a superior letter about 3 pages.

1. that from the start of you stepping into this school there has always been very difficult
circumstances such as:
a. flying from az to cali every Monday and Wednesday for classes you can make up how that
was hard for to study and keep up but you did it because you didnt want to give up and was
willing to do anything just to attend classes
b. include that after that difficulty that your professors from cali and noticed that you were
passing you classes but struggling mentally and your energy was gone again you can just
make up someting
c. include also how you had to sit out after all that for one semester to get approved to
transfer to the az location for school.

January 18th, 2023Re-Entry/Appeals CommitteeSmith Chason College3110 N Central Ave
Suite L-100Phoenix, Arizona 85012To the Re-Entry/Appeals Committee,My name is
Nouralhuda Shaie, and I am a student in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography(DMS) program
at Smith Chason College (SCC). I received an email on December 27th, 2022informing me of
my termination from SCC due to my failure of a repeated course. The reason formy failure,
however, was due to exceeding the allotted amount of absences by 1, 5 absences totalwhen
only 4 are permitted, rather than any poor academic conduct. In this letter, I would like
toexplain the reasons behind my absences, the plan of action I have taken to remedy them,
and theimportance to me of being readmitted to the DMS program.First off, I would like to
explain why I had so many absences this semester which led tomy failure. Unfortunately,
the past year has been challenging for not only me but my family aswell, in terms of our
financial stability. I recently accepted an overnight position for ahotel/hospitality company,
Sonder, in order to earn money during the night and still be able tofocus on school during
the day. Although I was hired for an overnight position, one of themandatory two-week
training for that position was only held during the daytime and began onMondays. This
scheduling conflict is what resulted in my excessive absences. I reached out tomy professor
about the situation who then directed me to Debra Love. Debra Love then directedme to
Yasmin Ali. I sent all three an email, which I have attached here, explaining the situation
Iwas in. I also reached out to my manager to see if she could write a letter verifying my
trainingschedule for the school’s records. I worked really hard in my classes this semester,
but, althoughI passed the class in terms of academic performance, I was still unable to meet
the attendancerequirement because of my work schedule which resulted in my failure.Next,
I would like to discuss my plan of action to address the problems I stated above thatled to
my excessive absences. This incident has caused me to really reflect on my time at SCCand
weigh the pros and cons of my fight for readmission. I really believe that SCC is the
schoolfor me, and I have a strong passion for the DMS program! If allowed readmission, this
will bethe third time that I have to take this course. I know in the past I have had hiccups in
myacademic performance, and my progress has been stunted because of them; however, I
am notone to give up when I know I can succeed. Three attempts at a course may sound
excessive, butit has done me all the better at ensuring I understand the material to a tee
which is the first part ofmy plan of action: to address any mistakes in my academic
performance. I really think that beingable to take this class for the third time will reinforce
the knowledge I have gained from thisprogram and allow me to really solidify the
foundation I have. As stated earlier, I actually wasable to pass the class this time around in
terms of academic performance, but my excessiveabsences are what led to my failure. I am
not trying to excuse my absences, but I just wanted tohighlight that I am willing and able to
study hard and master the material.
Furthermore, I would like to discuss the most important part of my plan of
action:addressing the absences and how I plan to remedy the issue in the future. If I am
readmitted toSCC, I can assure you that nothing will come in between my school schedule
and my absences. For example, I have already finished training so I won't have to work
during the day anymore. Ialso talked to my boss about how important school is and making
sure my work schedule won'tinterfere with my classes. Although there were outside factors
that affected my attendance, Iunderstand that my response to those factors all contributed
to the absences. I do not want it tosound like I am making excuses for my situation. I accept
that my response to these factorscontributed to my performance, but I am actively working
on how I address similar issues in thefuture by reassessing my priorities and how I organize
them.Lastly, I would really just like to emphasize again how important Smith Chason
Collegeis to me and the field of sonography. If you look at my records, you can see that,
excluding thiscourse, I only have two more classes to complete before I am ready to pursue
an externship. Ihave worked very hard to get to this point in my academic career, and I am
willing to work evenhard to finish it. In terms of an externship, I am willing to accept work
at any location and readyto show them just how well this school has prepared me! From the
teachers, staff, and my fellowstudent peers, I have made such valuable connections at this
school and in this program that Ibelieve would allow me to excel in any environment where
I am granted readmission. Iunderstand that I have no one else to blame for my performance
but myself, but I hope you cansee that I am working hard to address the issues I have had in
the past and ensure that they willnot affect me to such a degree in the future. I want to
thank you for taking the time to read myletter. Please do not hesitate to reach out if there is
any other information I can provide for yourconsideration or any questions I can
answer.Sincerely,Nouralhuda Shaie
