Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam was born in 1931 in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. He had a strong desire to learn from a young age and studied physics, aerospace engineering, and worked on missile development programs in India. As chief of India's Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme, he played a major role in developing missiles like Agni and Prithvi. In 2002, he became the 11th President of India and was the first scientist to hold that office. Known as the "Missile Man of India," Kalam made major contributions to science and technology in India and inspired millions with his vision and leadership.
