Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of love, beauty, sexuality, and fertility. She is often depicted standing on a shell accompanied by a dove and dolphin. She has power over love, beauty, romance, passion, and fertility. Her parents are Zeus and Dione or in some versions she rose from sea foam. She is married to Hephaestus but had lovers including Adonis and Anchises. She has children including Eros, Anteros, Aeneas, Phobos, Pothos, Harmonia, and Hermaphroditus. Sigmund Freud saw her symbolically as an important life force.
