2. On behalf of Aon Hewitt, we would like to thank you for joining us for the Saudi Arabia launch event; ‘From HR Strategy
to Implementation’. We hope you found the session both valuable and thought provoking, as well as a unique
opportunity to network with other senior HR professionals in the Kingdom.
It was an honor to welcome so many business leaders for this event. The day kicked off with a keynote address from
our guest speaker, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Zamil, who highlighted the need to develop human resources in the region, in
particular, the top leaders, who can influence the future development of corporations. During the first session, our PACE
model was very well received, and the message was clear that implementation will be key in the future – with a strong
emphasis for a need to align HR strategy with an overall business strategy.
The topic of Executive Compensation then caused interesting debate, as our Head of Rewards, Martin Mcguigan
presented on trends in the region. Lots of discussions pointed towards developing long term incentive plans, and there
was strong support for a proactive pension solution as well as an employee contribution medical insurance solution to
deal with KSA demographics.
The day concluded with our panel discussion, and we heard of the varying HR challenges present within family owned
businesses, the public and private sector. In addition to the internal factors, there was lots of emphasis on external
factors that can influence strategy, particularly for the public sector. Attracting, retaining and developing top talent
dominated much of the discussion, as we learnt of the various strategies in place. Some final comments included a need
for more transparency, motivation and engagement within the region’s workforce. Overall, the level of engagement
meant we were able to share new ideas, valuable insights and practical knowledge which I hope you will take away and
apply in your own organization.
Our special thanks go to our keynote speaker, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Zamil, President of the Council of Saudi Chambers,
Chairman of the board of Riyadh Chamber of Commerce, along with our 3 guest panelists: Mr. Marwan El-Ajou, Vice
Chairman of the Board at Ajou Group; Dr. Bander Al-Sajjan, Deputy Director General of Development & Quality at IPA
and Mr. Salah Al-Shammari, Manager, Career & Management Development Department at SEC, who all contributed
greatly to making this event a success.
It was a pleasure to welcome you, and we hope to see you at our future events.
