This document outlines a 6 step process for organizing a workspace: 1) Red tag unnecessary items, 2) Restore available space, 3) Reduce inventory, 4) Ensure easy accessibility, 5) Create a feeling of comfort, and 6) Achieve a healthy change in outlook through sorting, setting locations, shining and sweeping, standardizing, and sustaining the new organization system. The overall aim is for teams to work together to organize and maintain their workspace.
The document discusses general safety and occupational health and safety (OHS). It outlines that safety is everyone's responsibility, not just safety professionals. It also describes occupational health hazards like chemicals, physical hazards, and ergonomics issues. Key standards for health and safety are mentioned from organizations like OSHA, HSE, and ISO. Benefits of OHS include fewer injuries, higher productivity, and legal compliance. Safety depends on attitude, knowledge, and taking prompt action on hazards. Key elements of construction safety include personal protective equipment, hazard communication, fall protection, equipment operation safety, and electrical safety.
Artificial respiration, the act of simulating respiration, which provides for the overall exchange of gases in the body by pulmonary ventilation, external respiration and internal respiration
First aid is the provision of initial care for an illness or injury. It is usually performed by non-expert, but trained personnel to a sick or injured person until definitive medical treatment can be accessed. Certain self-limiting illnesses or minor injuries may not require further medical care past the first aid intervention. It generally consists of a series of simple and in some cases, potentially life-saving techniques that an individual can be trained to perform with minimal equipment.
Housekeeping and fire safety procedures should be followed to minimize risks. Regular cleaning and waste disposal is important. Flammable materials must be properly stored away from heat sources and ignition points. Smoking restrictions and fire equipment maintenance helps prevent fires.

What is Third hand smoke?
What is Mainstream smoke?
What is nicotine and its effect?
What's the difference between healthy lungs and smoking lungs?
Tobacco products contain numerous toxic and carcinogenic chemicals like nicotine, tar, and carbon monoxide that are harmful to human health. Tobacco use has been conclusively linked to various cancers, lung and heart diseases, and is the leading cause of preventable death in the US. The health risks apply to all forms of tobacco use including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and smokeless tobacco. Both short-term use and long-term, regular use can damage multiple body systems and organs.
Global smoking statistics show that tobacco kills over 8 million people worldwide each year. Nearly 80% of adult smokers started smoking regularly before age 18. While smoking rates are declining in high-income countries, they are rising in low-and middle-income countries where 75% of smokers now live. Tobacco contains over 4000 chemicals, including the highly addictive nicotine and carcinogenic tar and carbon monoxide. Quitting smoking has immediate and long-term health benefits by reducing risks of cancers, heart disease, emphysema and other smoking-related illnesses. Medications and behavioral support can help address nicotine withdrawal symptoms and cravings when trying to quit.
Smoking causes significant health risks and can lead to early death. Some of the major health risks include various cancers, heart disease, stroke, lung disease, premature aging of skin, gum disease, and low birth weight in babies of mothers who smoke. Smoking restricts blood flow and oxygen delivery throughout the body. It contains over 7,000 chemicals, many of which are carcinogenic, and can cause health issues affecting nearly every organ system. Non-smokers often choose not to date smokers due to the cosmetic effects like bad breath, stained teeth, and smoking odor on clothes and hair.
Smoking involves burning a substance and inhaling the smoke, which is harmful. Cigarette smoke contains over 4,000 chemicals including 43 cancer-causing compounds and 400 toxins like tar and nicotine. Nicotine is highly addictive and acts as both a stimulant and depressant in the brain. Smoking causes nearly 500,000 deaths annually in the US from cancers, heart disease, and strokes. While e-cigarettes were created to potentially reduce harm, they still deliver addictive nicotine and many contain other toxins. Quitting smoking improves health by reducing cancer risks and repairing damage to the lungs and blood vessels over time.
The document discusses the health risks of tobacco use. It states that all tobacco products contain chemicals that are dangerous and harmful to a person's health. Tobacco use is linked to various cancers, lung disease, and heart disease. It can also cause short-term effects like bad breath and long-term effects on multiple body systems. The most significant health risks include cancer, heart disease, emphysema, and stroke.
Tobacco smoking: The direct inhalation of tobacco smoke, the basis of major health hazards. This document discusses smoking and its health effects. It defines smoking as burning a substance and inhaling the smoke. Tobacco contains nicotine, which is addictive, and people use tobacco via smoking, chewing, or snuff. Smoking causes over 3 million premature deaths per year due to diseases like cancer, heart disease, and lung disease. When tobacco burns, it produces over 4000 chemicals like nicotine, carbon monoxide, and tar. These chemicals are harmful and can cause health issues. However, quitting smoking can significantly reduce health risks over time as the body recovers. Education is important to prevent youth smoking initiation and protect non-smokers from secondhand smoke.
1) Smoking contains nicotine, tar, and carbon monoxide which are addictive and poisonous to the human body.
2) Smoking leads to serious diseases like lung cancer, heart disease, and depression.
3) Quitting smoking is difficult but important for long term health, and seeking support can help people quit this dangerous habit.
This document discusses the harms of smoking. It defines smoking and notes that nicotine is highly addictive. Smoking causes numerous health issues like cancer, heart disease, lung disease and premature death. It specifically discusses how smoking harms the heart, lungs and brain by causing diseases like lung cancer, COPD and heart attacks. The document provides statistics on smoking rates in Pakistan and its economic and health impacts. Finally, it discusses Islam's prohibition of consuming harmful or addictive substances like tobacco, as it amounts to harming oneself and wasting money.
The document summarizes the negative health effects of smoking tobacco. Some key points:
- Tobacco smoking causes over 4.9 million deaths worldwide each year, a number projected to rise to over 10 million by 2020. India sees over 635,000 tobacco-related deaths annually.
- Smoking increases risks of various cancers, heart disease, lung disease, and other illnesses. Diseases like lung cancer see risk increases of over 1000% for smokers compared to non-smokers.
- Tobacco smoke contains over 4000 compounds, many of which are toxic, carcinogenic, or otherwise harmful when inhaled. These compounds can damage lungs, blood vessels, and various organs over time.
- Quitting smoking
1. Nicotine is highly addictive and causes physical and psychological dependence. Withdrawal from nicotine can cause cravings and symptoms like headaches and irritability.
2. Smoking harms nearly every organ in the body and causes many types of cancer as well as respiratory and heart diseases. Secondhand smoke also increases health risks.
3. Tobacco use, especially before age 18, often leads to long-term addiction. Social influences and misinformation can convince youth to experiment with tobacco despite known health risks. Resisting peer pressure requires assertiveness, education, and choosing non-smoking friends.
Smoking is a dangerous habit that can damage the body's organs and cause deadly diseases like lung cancer, heart attacks, and strokes over time. The chemicals in cigarettes include carcinogens and toxins like arsenic, formaldehyde, lead, and nicotine. Some of the negative health effects of smoking include increased risk of cancer, lung and heart disease, premature aging, bone loss, fertility issues, and many other diseases. While the dangers are long term, quitting smoking can improve health.

Nicotine reaches the brain and every body part within 10
seconds after smoke is inhaled.
Carbon monoxide binds to hemoglobin in red blood
cells, preventing affected cells from carrying a full load of oxygen.
Hydrogen cyanide – the lungs contain tiny hairs (cilia) that
help to clean the lungs by moving foreign substances out.
Hydrogen cyanide stops this lung clearance system from
working properly, which means the poisonous chemicals in
tobacco smoke can build up inside the lungs. Other
chemicals in smoke that damage the lungs include
hydrocarbons, nitrous oxides, organic acids, phenols and
oxidising agents.
6. Cancer-causing agents (carcinogens) in tobacco
smoke damage important genes that control the
growth of cells, causing them to grow abnormally or
to reproduce too rapidly.
Tar – a sticky substance that coats your lungs like soot in a
chimney, making it harder for you to breathe, and that contains
dozens of chemicals that cause cancer.
Free radicals – these highly reactive chemicals can damage
the heart muscles and blood vessels. They react with
cholesterol, leading to the build-up of fatty material on artery
walls. Their actions lead to heart disease, stroke and blood
vessel disease.
Metals – tobacco smoke contains dangerous metals
including arsenic, cadmium and lead. Several of these metals
are carcinogenic.
