Gluten free wafers are available for communion. To indicate your need, please pick
up a purple card from a sidesperson. With the purple card in your hand at the altar
rail, the communion minister will know that you require a gluten free wafer.
All baptized Christians, regardless of denomination or age, are invited to receive
Communion in the Anglican Church. If you do not wish to receive the bread and wine,
please come to the Altar, and cross your arms over your chest to receive a blessing.
The Offertory: During the Offertory, we offer many things to God. We offer the bread
and wine of the Eucharist. We also offer ourselves—our cares and concerns, our joys
and our sorrows, our time, our talent, and our treasure. Special requests for a visit, or
for information, can be placed in the Offertory Basket by filling in the form on the back
page of this bulletin. Whether or not you wish to place something in the Offertory
basket, we ask that you take it and pass it on to your neighbour as a symbol of all
that you wish to offer to God.
Children are welcome at St. Nicholas’! Children are invited to attend our Church
School Program downstairs during the 10:30am service.

The Celebration of All Saints – Today As we celebrate the feast of All Saints you are
invited to offer the names of those who have died, and are close to your heart, whom
you would like to have remembered. Please add the individual names to the list at the
back of the church before the service begins. The written names will be presented as
part of the offertory on Sunday November 3rd. On Wednesday November 6th during our
midweek service celebrating All Souls the written names will be read aloud.
Please Join Us next Sunday, November 10th for a special Remembrance Sunday
Service. To help us in our act of remembrance, please bring a photo or keepsake of
your family members or friends who have served, or are serving, in the Armed Forces.
A display table will be placed in the East Transcept, and small index cards will be
provided so that you can note the name of the individual and their relationship to you.
Sharing the spirit of St. Nicholas, it’s time to fill a shoe box with school supplies,
hygiene items and small toys for a boy or girl in need through Samaritans Purse. Boxes
and instructions are at the back of the church. The deadline for returning the boxes is
November 17th.
LOOKING AHEAD….. The annual Advent Women’s Quiet Day this year is being led
by our own Rev’d Janet. The date is Friday, December 6th, which coincidentally is St.
Nicholas Day. As usual we will be at St. John’s Convent, 9:30 to 4. The new rate of
$40 covers noon dinner and coffee breaks as well as our usual meeting space in St.
Margaret’s Chapel. We always love to see new faces so don’t hesitate just because
you’ve never come before.
Please assist in the organization of this event by signing up well before the date (at the
Manderley door). The convent now requires a list of names two weeks prior. Please
call Rev’d Joan for further information, concerns, etc. Her number is 416 686 8620.

Bazaar News
THANK YOU!
From all of us, a very big and sincere thank you to Julia Hanson, Suzanne
Lehtinen, and Brian Jones our Bazaar Committee, and to everyone who has
worked to ensure another successful Bazaar. There is a great deal of planning
and work done by many parishioners throughout the year, the result of which we
saw here yesterday, not only a successful fundraiser, but fellowship, and the
welcoming of the wider community.
Parish Breakfast: Our next Parish Breakfast will be held on Saturday, November 9th
at 9 a.m. in Robinson Hall. Please join us and our guest speaker Marien Gehrels.
Parables & Pints: The next installment of Parables & Pints will take place on
Tuesday, November 12th at 7:30 p.m. at the Tara Inn, 2365 Kingston Rd (near
Midland). Please join us as we share a pint (or soft drink) and discuss Jesus’
parables.
Our next Service of Holy Baptism will take place on Sunday, November 24th at
10:30 a.m. (The Reign of Christ the King). If you, or someone you know, is
interested in receiving the Sacrament of Baptism, please contact Rev. Janet.
New Outreach Initiative Pilot Project: The Outreach Committee is organizing an
Adult Community Lunch and Fellowship in Robinson Hall on Tuesday, November
12th, Tuesday, November 26th and Tuesday, December 10th. The program will run
from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and all adults are welcome to attend. We are particularly
hoping to reach out to those in need within the wider Birchcliff community. If you are
interested in helping with this new initiative by providing food or providing oversight,
please contact the Church Office by email at office@stnicholasbirchcliff.com or by
calling 416-691-0449.
Donations to Outreach – at our Annual Vestry meeting in February 2013 the people of
St. Nicholas made a wonderful commitment to support our ongoing Parish Outreach
ministry. Since February, donations to Outreach have supported the Churches by the
Bluffs Foodbank, The Alzheimer’s Society Cooking and Support Group, and an InterFaith Lunch Program. Direct donations to Outreach may be made using the blue
envelopes at the back of the Church. Thank you for your continued support and for
making a difference in the lives of others.
Rev. Janet is available for conversations about life or faith, and to respond to
pastoral situations and pastoral emergencies. Please don’t hesitate to contact her via
email at jrh@stnicholasbirchcliff.com or by calling the church office at 416-691-0449
ext. 223 or in the case of an emergency at 416-648-1418.

If you do not wish to receive the bread and wine, please come to the Altar, and cross your arms over your chest to receive a blessing. The Offertory: During the Offertory, we offer many things to God. We offer the bread and wine of the Eucharist. We also offer ourselves—our cares and concerns, our joys and our sorrows, our time, our talent, and our treasure. Special requests for a visit, or for information, can be placed in the Offertory Basket by filling in the form on the back page of this bulletin. Whether or not you wish to place something in the Offertory basket, we ask that you take it and pass it on to your neighbour as a symbol of all that you wish to offer to God. Children are welcome at St. Nicholas’! Children are invited to attend our Church School Program downstairs during the 10:30am service.

The annual Advent Women’s Quiet Day this year is being led by our own Rev’d Janet. The date is Friday, December 6th, which coincidentally is St. Nicholas Day. As usual we will be at St. John’s Convent, 9:30 to 4. The new rate of $40 covers noon dinner and coffee breaks as well as our usual meeting space in St. Margaret’s Chapel. We always love to see new faces so don’t hesitate just because you’ve never come before. Please assist in the organization of this event by signing up well before the date (at the Manderley door). The convent now requires a list of names two weeks prior. Please call Rev’d Joan for further information, concerns, etc. Her number is 416 686 8620. Bazaar News THANK YOU! From all of us, a very big and sincere thank you to Julia Hanson, Suzanne Lehtinen, and Brian Jones our Bazaar Committee, and to everyone who has worked to ensure another successful Bazaar. There is a great deal of planning and work done by many parishioners throughout the year, the result of which we saw here yesterday, not only a successful fundraiser, but fellowship, and the welcoming of the wider community. Parish Breakfast: Our next Parish Breakfast will be held on Saturday, November 9th at 9 a.m. in Robinson Hall. Please join us and our guest speaker Marien Gehrels. Parables & Pints: The next installment of Parables & Pints will take place on Tuesday, November 12th at 7:30 p.m. at the Tara Inn, 2365 Kingston Rd (near Midland). Please join us as we share a pint (or soft drink) and discuss Jesus’ parables. Our next Service of Holy Baptism will take place on Sunday, November 24th at 10:30 a.m. (The Reign of Christ the King). If you, or someone you know, is interested in receiving the Sacrament of Baptism, please contact Rev. Janet. New Outreach Initiative Pilot Project: The Outreach Committee is organizing an Adult Community Lunch and Fellowship in Robinson Hall on Tuesday, November 12th, Tuesday, November 26th and Tuesday, December 10th. The program will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and all adults are welcome to attend. We are particularly hoping to reach out to those in need within the wider Birchcliff community. If you are interested in helping with this new initiative by providing food or providing oversight, please contact the Church Office by email at office@stnicholasbirchcliff.com or by calling 416-691-0449. Donations to Outreach – at our Annual Vestry meeting in February 2013 the people of St. Nicholas made a wonderful commitment to support our ongoing Parish Outreach ministry. Since February, donations to Outreach have supported the Churches by the Bluffs Foodbank, The Alzheimer’s Society Cooking and Support Group, and an InterFaith Lunch Program. Direct donations to Outreach may be made using the blue envelopes at the back of the Church. Thank you for your continued support and for making a difference in the lives of others. Rev. Janet is available for conversations about life or faith, and to respond to pastoral situations and pastoral emergencies. Please don’t hesitate to contact her via email at jrh@stnicholasbirchcliff.com or by calling the church office at 416-691-0449 ext. 223 or in the case of an emergency at 416-648-1418.
