He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Help Us Remember
Loving God, Help us remember the birth of Jesus that we may share in the song of the
angels, the gladness of the shepherds, and worship of the wise men. Close the door of
hate and open the door of love all over the world. Let kindness come with every gift
and good desires with every greeting. Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ
brings, and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.
May the Christmas morning make us happy to be thy children, and Christmas
evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus'
sake. Amen.
