Ancient Greece had a mountainous and island geography that separated the Greeks. The climate was warm so they played sports outside year-round including the Olympic Games. They believed in many gods like Zeus, Hera, and Athena. Women had few rights except in Sparta where they were stronger. Men could vote, shop and be soldiers. Entertainment included plays, music and sports. Cities had structures like temples on fortified hills called Acropolises. Children married young, and babies could be abandoned. Slavery was common and slaves helped with childcare. After death the body was prepared, mourned then buried in cemeteries.
