This case report describes a rare occurrence of "mirror image impacted rosette molars" or "kissing molars" in a 26-year-old male patient. Panoramic x-ray and CT imaging revealed bilaterally impacted third molars along with an impacted left second molar that was contacting the third molar from above in a rosette formation. The patient underwent surgical extraction of all four impacted teeth. Kissing molars are a very rare impaction where two teeth contact each other within the same follicular space. The etiology is still unknown but it may be associated with certain medical conditions or developmental abnormalities.

This case report describes the replacement of congenitally missing bilateral maxillary lateral incisors and a right mandibular premolar with dental implants in a 22-year old female patient. The treatment involved first extracting retained primary canines and using orthodontics to gain space between teeth for implant placement. The available treatment modalities to replace congenitally missing teeth include prosthodontic fixed and removable prostheses, resin bonded retainers, orthodontic movement of maxillary canine to the lateral incisor site and single tooth implants. Dental implants offer a promising treatment option for placement of congenitally missing teeth. Interdisciplinary approach may be needed in these cases. CBCT imaging revealed an invagination extending into the root but confined as a blind sac. During root canal treatment, an operating microscope and ultrasonic instrumentation were used to remove the invaginated tissue and completely debride the complex anatomy. The canals were shaped, filled with gutta-percha and sealer, and the tooth was temporarily restored. The successful treatment required detailed diagnosis using CBCT along with specialized instrumentation and microscopy to navigate the unusual anatomy.
Taurodontism; clinical considerations
Taurodontism is characterized by teeth with enlarged and elongated pulp chambers and apical displacement of the bifurcation or trifurcation of roots. This anomaly occurs either as an isolated, singular trait or in association with syndromes and with some ectodermal anomalies. The aim of this review is to address the etiology, radiographic features and clinical considerations in the treatment of such teeth. It can be seen that taurodontism has until now received insufficient attention from clinicians.

This document reports on a case study of the surgical removal of 38 odontomes from the palatomaxillary area of a 9-year old patient. Odontomes are benign odontogenic tumors composed of dental hard tissues. The patient presented with delayed tooth eruption and radiographs revealed multiple radiopaque structures in the palatomaxillary area. Under local anesthesia, a triangular flap was elevated to expose the lesion and 38 odontomes were surgically removed. The area was irrigated and closed. The patient had no further issues at follow up. Odontomes are generally asymptomatic but can cause complications if left untreated due to their potential for growth and associated tooth impaction.

IADR Academy 2017 - In Focus: Correlative Imaging and Faculty Development
Structure and function relationships at different length scales are frequently discussed in varied fields of science and engineering, since unique properties may only be understood at one or another of these length scales. These relationships are built using robust interfaces that permit correlating datasets from multiple microscopies and spectroscopies, including X-ray, electron and light imaging modalities. These relationships unfold the functional relevance of biological processes at multiple scales [from millimeter (10-3 m) to nanometers (10-9 m)] while gathering contextual information. While light microscopy, through immunolabelling and fluorescence, can provide localization of two or three proteins in a single image, electron microscopy can reveal exquisite detail of all cellular contents at a nanometer level as well as target proteins to which labels are attached. This allows extracting function within the context of larger landscapes of tissues. Imaging and thereby visualization of this foundation of structural biology will be detailed through various presentations within this symposium on bioimaging that will highlight correlative microscopy and spectroscopy to provide key insights into biofunction. In addition, in the afternoon session attendees will be able to choose further imaging discussions or a discussion on mentoring and faculty development.

Dentigerous cyst in maxilla in a young girl
This document describes a case report of a rare dentigerous cyst in an 8-year-old girl arising from an unerupted maxillary premolar that had invaded the right maxillary sinus. Clinically, the patient presented with swelling in the right upper jaw. Radiographs revealed a partially formed tooth surrounded by a radiolucent area. The cyst was surgically removed via enucleation along with the displaced tooth. Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of a dentigerous cyst.

This document describes a retrospective study conducted at a tertiary care center that analyzed data on cases of osteomyelitis from 2006 to 2016. The study found that the number of female patients was equal to male patients, and most patients were between 30-45 years old. Unlike typical presentations where the mandible is more commonly affected, this study found that the maxilla was more commonly involved than the mandible. The posterior region of the maxilla was more frequently affected than the anterior region. The study aims to help optimize local treatment protocols by assessing epidemiological data from this specific tertiary care center.
