1. Anas El Hawary
Senior Reservoir and Production Technology Engineer
Profile
Nearly 30 years’ experience in petroleum engineering; worked for four major oil companies in very
diverse gas/oil reservoir types. Proficient in the integration of all reservoir data including petrophysics,
cores, well transient interpretation, production, drilling, etc., in the overall characterization of a
reservoir. Have broad understanding of all petroleum disciplines and ability to work both
independently and to interact effectively in a diverse team environment.
Professional Experience
2007–Dec2014
Schlumberger, Senior Reservoir Engineer, PTS segment
Sept. 2014-Dec. 2014: Assignment in Algeria. Supporting TAO project (Technical Assistance
on Operations) in Hassi Messaoud.
2007-Aug. 2014: Assignment in Angola. Full-time work at the major oil company in Angola
“SONANGOL” providing reservoir engineering technical advising and coaching to national staff.
Have provided technical support on numerous projects. Examples include:
Provided creative solutions of remedial action for shut-in wells and to overcome obstacles
causing low productivity. Skillful use of resources to develop new approaches to tackle problems.
Identified bypassed oil in challenging reservoirs and re-evaluated to exploit the attic reserves and
to maximize the reservoir value.
Strong input in multi-disciplinary teams to implement work planning and budgeting.
Key contribution to achieving the company production targets by setting up action plans and field
development scenarios.
Active involvement to introduce scenarios to exploit an undeveloped area.
Short studies to evaluate technical projects proposed by other disciplines.
Led the team to provide significant data management solutions and improvements.
Gave technical presentations to client partners and government representatives.
Key technical contributor and collaborator in mentoring less experienced staff. Provided
assistance and established goals in order to meet objectives.
Provided analysis using Schlumberger technical software such as Petrel, OFM, DECIDE and
PIPESIM.
My contributions to both SONANGOL and Schlumberger were highly appreciated. I have been
awarded valuable certificates.
2005–2007
WASCO Pet. Co.,
Reservoir Engineering Assistant General Manager.
Have worked in multi-discipline asset team. Responsibilities included:
Providing engineering support for other aspects of production and facility engineering.
Working in a multi-disciplinary team environment (Exploitation Team, with experienced
professional engineers and geologists).
Establishing reservoir engineering staff and engineering database.
Active participation in constructing 3D reservoir models to examine different development
scenarios.
Key contributor to technical presentations to partners and government representatives.
2000–2005
KHALAD Pet. Co.,
2. Acting Reservoir Engineering Assistant General Manager.
Working with the geoscience team, reservoir engineering consulting for integrated projects:
Recommending development drilling locations.
Evaluating gas reservoir performance and depletion strategies.
Analyzing field data and recommending remedial work to increase reserves.
Performing reserve evaluations, and recoveries.
Performing technical and economic evaluations to add reserves.
1985–2000
WEPCO
Reservoir Engineering Department Head.
My first 10 years of experience mainly involved overall petroleum engineering production operations
(such as well site engineering at offshore/onshore rigs, production supervision in fields and in head
office). Thereafter, oriented to reservoir engineering management where my operational background
has helped in gaining more skills and better understanding of reservoir engineering techniques.
1995–2000: Implemented reservoir engineering techniques to identify reservoir characteristics
through the following work positions:
Reservoir Engineering Department Head.
Reservoir Engineering Section Head.
1985–1995: Mainly involved in overall petroleum engineering activities. I supervised many well
site activities in diverse work locations. Accomplished the following positions:
Senior Petroleum Engineer.
Production Operations Engineer.
