This document provides guidance on writing an analytical exposition. It defines an analytical exposition as a text that elaborates the writer's idea about a phenomenon to persuade the reader of its importance. The generic structure includes an introduction with a thesis stating the writer's position, body paragraphs explaining supporting arguments, and a conclusion restating the position. Language features that should be used are relational processes, internal and external conjunctions, causal conjunctions, and contrastive conjunctions, as well as simple present tense. An example analytical exposition argues that music is important in life by supporting it with arguments that music completes daily activities, helps with memorization, and can unite people for causes.
