Analytical Essay Examples
The Analytical essay's topic was focused on the Governments' infringement on electronic/Internet privacy, and why it was important for citizens of the
United States to protect their rights to privacy. I chose to revise this essay, because I am very interested in the subject of cyber security. My proposal
essay argued how high school students should be required to take Physical Education classes throughout all four years of high school. I revised this
essay, because it was a topic that I personally related to as a high school student.
My analytical essay needed better placement of its supporting evidence, so that the content didn't accidently confuse the reader. This was carried out by

Getting my rough drafts corrected by Professor Mays helped me to recognize huge flaws in my writing technique, and improve by trial and error.
Another common practice in English 101 that helped improve my writing ability was workshops, because they provided me with student feedback on
how my essays could be strengthened. Similarly, the students within English 102 class provided feedback and ideas that I could apply to my papers,
which helped me extensively develop my essays.
English 101 changed my approach to the process of drafting and revising in many ways. To be more specific, they prompted me to include as much
detail and background into the main ideas of my paragraphs as possible. Additionally, I now create outlines before composing a draft of my essay, so
that I can organize my thoughts before writing the material. The course conveyed the importance of taking advantage of your rough drafts, because it

The short story, "Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been", by Joyce Oates, (1966), and the poem, "What it's Like to Be a Black Girl", by
Patricia Smith, (1991), are both about the coming of age of young girls and the conflicts that they encounter. The two pieces explore issues that most
young girls have with their bodies and others during their puberty years. The literary elements that will be compared in this essay is imagery and
symbolism. The main conflict in both pieces that will be explored is individual versus self. These literary elements and conflict will help us to explore
the issues that these two individual young girls...show more content...
"First of all, it's being 9 years old and feeling like you're not finished". It's as though, the changes that are to come are going to be better than what's
already been. The main change she hopes is that she will be considered beautiful because unlike Connie in the first story this 9 year old girl don't
believe she's pretty at all. So she's hoping that, what's to come? Is better than what's been?
Although there are many different literary techniques used in these two pieces imagery is an element that is depicted in the both of them.
Imagery is a literary technique that appeals to the senses of its readers. It gives the reader a visual of what the writer is feeling about what he or
she is writing. In the poem, "What it's Like to Be a Black Girl", by Smith, (1991), imagery is used to display the writers feelings of being black and
not necessary proud of being black, "it's dropping food coloring in your eyes to make them blue and suffering their burn in silence". The writer
could be using the word blue as a way to depict the wanting to have beautiful blue eyes like many White women as opposed to the dark brown or
black eyes that she probably possessed. Imagery is also seen in the way how the writer explains her encounter with the opposite sex. "It's finally
having a man reach out for you then caving in around his fingers". It is having a man finally paying attention to you but not knowing that he only wants
to control your body.

Analysis of Commercial Advertisement
Television commercials are television programming produced by any organisation to provide message in the market about their product or services. It
is one of the most popular methods to attract customer and provide them information about their products or services.

Essay on Intelligence Analysis
If you had that one piece of the puzzle that would have prevented the bombings of the twin towers in New York and the Pentagon on September 11
2001 would you know it? If you saw someone do something weird or suspicious before the attack on September 11 2001, would you have called the
police? If someone had walked into a United States Embassy in a foreign country and said that they know someone was going to use a plane to
destroy New York in two days, could this have stopped the attack?Intelligence Analysis puts the raw sources of information together, make predictions

Analysis Of Two Documentaries
I will be analysing two very different types of documentary, 'Dogtown and the Z–Boys', which takes the role of being a full length movie type
documentary, and 'Teenage Transsexuals' which was recently shown on Channel 4.
'Dogtown and the Z–Boys' is a documentary which takes a look at the transformation of surfing into skateboarding. The film follows the evolution of
skating through it's heyday in the 70's, to it's decline in the 80's, and then back upto it's popular return in the 90's. It also follows the Zephyr team, a
high profile surf/skate club which revolutionised the skating industry right upto the present day. The film is written and produced by Stacy...show more

The narrator uses mostly factual information and few opinions which makes the film feel fairly personal. The narrator hypes up what otherwise be
quite a dull and unexciting film by using exaggeration and sarcastic humour in some places.
The documentary is informative, as the reader would otherwise probably not be aware of 'Dogtown and the Z–Boys'. But it informs in an entertaining
fashion with a popular, interesting soundtrack and an original editing/camera technique.
Dogtown and Z–Boys uses all of John Corner's central elements of documentary and most of documentaries typical codes and conventions.
The film contains lots of areas of observation, mostly showing the boy's when they are young and just starting out. This is unseen observation because
the camera is ignored by the people taking part in the event which is being shown. This method places the viewer in the role of being an eye–witness.
A narrative is used over this type of observation throughout the film to explain and describe what is taking place.
Interviews are also used throughout the film to make it more in depth and realistic. The interviews used are there to establish truth and fact of what's
happening on screen. Eye witness/expert testimonies from the original members of the Zephyr Team are used to validate the things which are being

Essay On Business Analytics
Application of Business Analytics
An increasing amount of businesses are exploring this new concept of analytics. In today's tech–savvy era, the use of analytics can be seen as a
necessity rather than a competitive advantage. More companies are realizing the benefits that come with the use of analytics within the business
environment. Like anything else, there are both pros and cons that come with this approach. However, the benefits far outweigh the negatives. Business
analytics are the future of the business world. This paper will describe a general overview of business analytics and its application to the real world.

It is through these three types of analytics, that business analytics can be distinguished from just being the plain process of analytics. These three types
of analytics help make this process useful in the business environment. It requires "a clear relevancy to business, a resulting insight that will be
implementable, and performance and value measurement to ensure a successful result." Business analytics includes a combination of all three types to
generate new information used for business organization decision–making. Descriptive analytics basically gives you a general idea of the data you are
looking at. Predictive analytics takes the next step and predicts what is likely to happen next. Finally, prescriptive analytics figures out what is the best
course of action. All three of these types of analytics can be very useful when used in combination with one another. Business analytics can be
instrumental to a business' success when implemented properly. (Schniederjans et al., 2014).
Pros and Cons
The benefits in relation to business analytics far outweigh the negatives within any business. Despite this, however, there still are drawbacks related to
business analytics. The three major issues relating to business analytics are ease of use, speed, and scalability. These three factors are the main priority
executives are looking for when it comes to data analytics in the business environment. Unfortunately, many executives feel as if they are not

Art Analysis Essay
Though most works of art have some underlying, deeper meaning attached to them, our first impression of their significance comes through our initial
visual interpretation. When we first view a painting or a statue or other piece of art, we notice first the visual details – its size, its medium, its color,
and its condition, for example – before we begin to ponder its greater significance. Indeed, these visual clues are just as important as any other
interpretation or meaning of a work, for they allow us to understand just what that deeper meaning is. The expression on a statue's face tells us the
emotion and message that the artist is trying to convey. Its color, too, can provide clues: darker or lighter colors can play a role in how we...show more

The Stele depicts a simple scene: a seated man and standing woman behind him stare blankly straight ahead. A woman standing on the left looks
down upon them. All of them are ordinary humans. They are not gods or goddesses. They are private people. Their clothing is plain, consisting of
simple robes. It is representational of a regular family mourning the loss of one of its members, a scene that most people, even today, are able to relate
to hundreds or even thousands of years later.
The stele conveys a solemn forlornness that can be seen in the figures' faces. Their mouths are tightly shut; their eyes gaze blankly ahead. The woman
on the left stares ahead with little emotion on her face. The stele does not depict any motion. All of the figures are standing (or sitting) still, in quiet
memorial. This solemnity adds to the emotion of a grave where the stele once stood. There is no real clear answer as to who is being mourned. Are the
seated man and the woman mourning the loss of their daughter, on the left? Or is the woman on the left mourning the loss of a father? The sculpture's
ambiguity also adds to the emotion that it evokes. It might even be appropriate for its purpose. Its function was to mark a gravesite – the site of the
body of someone who has died. Death is one of the most complex parts of life. It is the most ambiguous, for nobody knows for sure what happens in
death. The ambiguity of the stele highlights

that, unlike animals, the reader does not have a 'heart' until he/she embraces a vegetarian diet. This connotation contradicts the primary phrase in Figure

associated with dairy and beef products within the consumer market. Through this the reader immediately associates the symbol with food products and

C. What is meant by the term 'earnings guidance'? Why might managers provide earnings guidance or earnings forecast in advance of the release of the
actual earnings number for a quarter? Why might managers choose not to provide earnings guidance in advance of earnings?
Earnings guidance (aka 'forward looking statements') is the forecast of earnings issued by management that is used to try and influence the opinions
issued by financial analysts. They use these to try and 'walk down' market expectations of future earnings of the corporation. Managers may choose not
to issue earnings guidance in the case that they expect strong earnings and actually want analysts to inflate expectations that in turn can drive stock
prices up or they may choose not to issue earnings guidance if there's not enough data to make a confident statement. The advantage of providing
earnings guidance before earnings are announced is to control the message and try to frame the changes. These comments often focus on sales or
earnings expectations in light of industry and macroeconomic trends. These comments are made to investors so that they can evaluate the company's
earnings potential. .
Some managers choose not to release this information before earnings as they have a different strategy for messaging

Abstract
A Week 3 assignment in the class, PHL/717 Constructing Meaning, required a philosophical analysis of an article in the Journal of Psychology. The
article investigated how the connection between knowledge and learning influenced individuals to think about controversial everyday issues. The
analysis included identifying philosophical assumptions, explaining practical significance and applicability, and relating assumptions and methodology

The scientific community has debated the methodology of the attainment of knowledge since Aristotle. Social science, such as the study analyzed here,
wants to develop a more engaged relationship between knowledge and practice (Delanty & Strydom, 2003). Conceiving their study on previous
research done about the nature of knowledge and the nature of learning that influences thinking, Schommer–Aikins and Hutter (2002) introduced an
additional element of contemporary controversial issues encountered in everyday life. Their research looked to populations outside of academia to
support their hypotheses. Generally, they were able to prove a relationship exists between individual beliefs about knowledge and learning and the
ability to demonstrate higher order thinking. Education and critical thinking influence these beliefs (p. 16). The nature of knowledge and learning
beliefs influence thinking in everyday life.
Methodology
Kuhn (1996) describes a paradigm as the accepted norm of a science. The standards, rules, and scientific tradition one follows in a particular area of
scientific study comprise the paradigm. Research, such as the one described here, "is a cumulative enterprise, eminently successful in its aim, the
steady extension of the scope and precision of scientific knowledge" (p. 52). The study provided

The tragedy of Othello, written by William Shakespeare, presents the main character Othello, as a respectable, honorable, and dignified man, but
because of his insecurities and good nature, he is easily taken advantage of and manipulated by his peers and alleged friends. The dynamic of Othello's
character significantly changes throughout the play. The contrast is most pronounced from the beginning of the play to its conclusion, switching from
being calm and peaceful to acts of uncontrolled venomous rage. Othello's motivation in the play appears to be his love and concern for his wife

says this to Desdemona reassuring his love and care for her.
By the middle of the play Othello's mood and demeanor seem to shift from being peaceful and patient to very anxious, paranoid, and gullible. For
example when Othello is talking to Iago and Iago suggests that maybe his wife is not being faithful to him, it becomes Othello's obsession to get down
to the bottom of it and catch her. "I have been talking with your suitor here, a man that languishes in your displeasure / Who is't you mean / Why, your

his wife and believe she is being unfaithful to him which grows stronger and stronger each scene of the play. Because Iago is extremely cunning and

Although, the system would help some students they would not help them all, vouchers are offered in limited numbers. As each state works through
this political quagmire, the debate continues.
School vouchers are not the savior to public education that they set out to be, as long as the vouchers are not offered to everyone equally. Funding to
public education continues to be under siege so allocating funding toward a voucher program that everyone can not access may not be the best use of
these dollars. The assumption that a sense of competition may develop among schools for the best and the brightest may be true but what about
schools that can not compete. What happens to the children that will be left behind? Is the federal government prepared to improve public schools that
are suffering from lack of funds? "School voucher programs undermine two great American traditions: universal public education and the separation of
church and state" (Anti–Defamation League, 2005).
While researching the voucher system this writer found that there are several factors to take into consideration such as: is the use of funds for the
voucher program the best use of educational funds, what happens to the kids left behind in the public schools who do not get a voucher or can not
afford to take advantage of the option,

Example Of Decision Analytic Models
Decision analytic models are used to examine cost effectiveness of healthcare interventions. These models summarise available evidence succinctly for
analysis. When there is a lack of observed evidence, expert opinions on the mean or median values (occasionally the minimum and maximum range) for
the parameter of interest are commonly used. This does not provide sufficient information to examine whether the distribution of uncertainty
surrounding the parameter of interest is representative of the expert's opinion. As this is a key component in Probabilistic Sensitivity Analysis (PSA)

Following this 2013 systematic review, the same authors published an article in 2016, on a study that compared the results for two commonly used
elicitation methods, the histogram and hybrid methods(3). This study had the following 3 objectives
1)Examine how these two methods appealed to the experts,
2)Determine if there were any differences in the elicited distributions and;
3)Compare the impact of the elicited distributions on an actual decision model
The study results showed that
1)Generally, the experts found the histogram method easier to use compared to the hybrid method although the two elicitation methods were closely
ranked by the experts in terms of ease of use and face validity
2)The distributions from the histogram method were slightly narrower than the distributions from the hybrid method, suggesting greater certainty when
aggregated.

What is Google Analytics? Essay
What is Google Analytics?
Google Analytics is a free service from Google which provides a core set of statistics and analytical tools for website administrators to perform the
tasks of web analysts such as search engine optimisation and marketing purposes. It uses an advanced technology that can gather vast amount of data to
help measure how the company's presence and online marketing is working.
This powerful software has the ability to track website metrics, like the number of visits and visitors, number of specific pages viewed, bounce rate,
and abandonment rate. One of its more outstanding features is its ability to track certain website pages, referred to as "goal", which can identify what
visitor actions you want to monitor....show more content...
In addition, visit depths and bounce rates are also analyzed by Google Analytics. Visit depths show how many pages the user is requesting before
leaving the site while bounce rates show what percentage of users only view one page before leaving the website.
Aside from tracking goals, Google Analytics can track all different kinds of marketing initiatives such as AdWords, other types of paid searches, social
media, display advertising, email marketing, and many other types of ad one can think of.
Google Analytics uses the Map Overlay report needed by any analyst in performing segmentation. This involves deeper analysis into the data in order
to understand how the segments or smaller buckets of traffic are performed and ultimately impact the overall performance of the website. A row of
data shows all the values for a dimension, which is an attribute of a unique visitor or the visits that they create like visitor's campaign name, country,
browser version, speed of the ISP's involved, average time spent, etc.
This Google service is available to anyone with a Google account. The registration process is so easy that users do not need have their own hosting

Analytical Essay Examples

  • 1. Analytical Essay Examples The Analytical essay's topic was focused on the Governments' infringement on electronic/Internet privacy, and why it was important for citizens of the United States to protect their rights to privacy. I chose to revise this essay, because I am very interested in the subject of cyber security. My proposal essay argued how high school students should be required to take Physical Education classes throughout all four years of high school. I revised this essay, because it was a topic that I personally related to as a high school student. My analytical essay needed better placement of its supporting evidence, so that the content didn't accidently confuse the reader. This was carried out by simply using my supporting evidence as background, before...show more content... Additionally, they showed how I learned to provide as much background as possible to the main ideas within essays, to help the reader understand exactly what I am trying to say. Getting my rough drafts corrected by Professor Mays helped me to recognize huge flaws in my writing technique, and improve by trial and error. Another common practice in English 101 that helped improve my writing ability was workshops, because they provided me with student feedback on how my essays could be strengthened. Similarly, the students within English 102 class provided feedback and ideas that I could apply to my papers, which helped me extensively develop my essays. English 101 changed my approach to the process of drafting and revising in many ways. To be more specific, they prompted me to include as much detail and background into the main ideas of my paragraphs as possible. Additionally, I now create outlines before composing a draft of my essay, so that I can organize my thoughts before writing the material. The course conveyed the importance of taking advantage of your rough drafts, because it allows you to fix your errors and create an exemplary Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Literary Analysis Of Two Texts Essay Literary Analysis of Two Texts Renita Redding Instructor: Irene Robles–Huerta ENG 125 March 21, 2015 The short story, "Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been", by Joyce Oates, (1966), and the poem, "What it's Like to Be a Black Girl", by Patricia Smith, (1991), are both about the coming of age of young girls and the conflicts that they encounter. The two pieces explore issues that most young girls have with their bodies and others during their puberty years. The literary elements that will be compared in this essay is imagery and symbolism. The main conflict in both pieces that will be explored is individual versus self. These literary elements and conflict will help us to explore the issues that these two individual young girls...show more content... "First of all, it's being 9 years old and feeling like you're not finished". It's as though, the changes that are to come are going to be better than what's already been. The main change she hopes is that she will be considered beautiful because unlike Connie in the first story this 9 year old girl don't believe she's pretty at all. So she's hoping that, what's to come? Is better than what's been? Although there are many different literary techniques used in these two pieces imagery is an element that is depicted in the both of them. Imagery is a literary technique that appeals to the senses of its readers. It gives the reader a visual of what the writer is feeling about what he or she is writing. In the poem, "What it's Like to Be a Black Girl", by Smith, (1991), imagery is used to display the writers feelings of being black and not necessary proud of being black, "it's dropping food coloring in your eyes to make them blue and suffering their burn in silence". The writer could be using the word blue as a way to depict the wanting to have beautiful blue eyes like many White women as opposed to the dark brown or black eyes that she probably possessed. Imagery is also seen in the way how the writer explains her encounter with the opposite sex. "It's finally having a man reach out for you then caving in around his fingers". It is having a man finally paying attention to you but not knowing that he only wants to control your body. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Essay on Intelligence Analysis If you had that one piece of the puzzle that would have prevented the bombings of the twin towers in New York and the Pentagon on September 11 2001 would you know it? If you saw someone do something weird or suspicious before the attack on September 11 2001, would you have called the police? If someone had walked into a United States Embassy in a foreign country and said that they know someone was going to use a plane to destroy New York in two days, could this have stopped the attack?Intelligence Analysis puts the raw sources of information together, make predictions based on the data, and finally publish the results. • 6. Analysis Of Two Documentaries Essay examples Analysis Of Two Documentaries I will be analysing two very different types of documentary, 'Dogtown and the Z–Boys', which takes the role of being a full length movie type documentary, and 'Teenage Transsexuals' which was recently shown on Channel 4. 'Dogtown and the Z–Boys' is a documentary which takes a look at the transformation of surfing into skateboarding. The film follows the evolution of skating through it's heyday in the 70's, to it's decline in the 80's, and then back upto it's popular return in the 90's. It also follows the Zephyr team, a high profile surf/skate club which revolutionised the skating industry right upto the present day. The film is written and produced by Stacy...show more content... The narrator uses mostly factual information and few opinions which makes the film feel fairly personal. The narrator hypes up what otherwise be quite a dull and unexciting film by using exaggeration and sarcastic humour in some places. The documentary is informative, as the reader would otherwise probably not be aware of 'Dogtown and the Z–Boys'. But it informs in an entertaining fashion with a popular, interesting soundtrack and an original editing/camera technique. Dogtown and Z–Boys uses all of John Corner's central elements of documentary and most of documentaries typical codes and conventions. The film contains lots of areas of observation, mostly showing the boy's when they are young and just starting out. This is unseen observation because the camera is ignored by the people taking part in the event which is being shown. This method places the viewer in the role of being an eye–witness. A narrative is used over this type of observation throughout the film to explain and describe what is taking place. Interviews are also used throughout the film to make it more in depth and realistic. The interviews used are there to establish truth and fact of what's happening on screen. Eye witness/expert testimonies from the original members of the Zephyr Team are used to validate the things which are being

In today's tech–savvy era, the use of analytics can be seen as a necessity rather than a competitive advantage. More companies are realizing the benefits that come with the use of analytics within the business environment. Like anything else, there are both pros and cons that come with this approach. However, the benefits far outweigh the negatives. Business analytics are the future of the business world. It is through these three types of analytics, that business analytics can be distinguished from just being the plain process of analytics. These three types of analytics help make this process useful in the business environment. It requires "a clear relevancy to business, a resulting insight that will be implementable, and performance and value measurement to ensure a successful result." Business analytics includes a combination of all three types to generate new information used for business organization decision–making. Descriptive analytics basically gives you a general idea of the data you are looking at. Predictive analytics takes the next step and predicts what is likely to happen next. Finally, prescriptive analytics figures out what is the best course of action. All three of these types of analytics can be very useful when used in combination with one another. Business analytics can be instrumental to a business' success when implemented properly. (Schniederjans et al., 2014). Pros and Cons The benefits in relation to business analytics far outweigh the negatives within any business. Despite this, however, there still are drawbacks related to business analytics. The three major issues relating to business analytics are ease of use, speed, and scalability. When we first view a painting or a statue or other piece of art, we notice first the visual details – its size, its medium, its color, and its condition, for example – before we begin to ponder its greater significance. Indeed, these visual clues are just as important as any other interpretation or meaning of a work, for they allow us to understand just what that deeper meaning is. The expression on a statue's face tells us the emotion and message that the artist is trying to convey. It is representational of a regular family mourning the loss of one of its members, a scene that most people, even today, are able to relate to hundreds or even thousands of years later. The stele conveys a solemn forlornness that can be seen in the figures' faces. Their mouths are tightly shut; their eyes gaze blankly ahead. The woman on the left stares ahead with little emotion on her face. The stele does not depict any motion. All of the figures are standing (or sitting) still, in quiet memorial. This solemnity adds to the emotion of a grave where the stele once stood. There is no real clear answer as to who is being mourned. Are the seated man and the woman mourning the loss of their daughter, on the left? Or is the woman on the left mourning the loss of a father? The sculpture's ambiguity also adds to the emotion that it evokes. It might even be appropriate for its purpose. Its function was to mark a gravesite – the site of the body of someone who has died. Death is one of the most complex parts of life. It is the most ambiguous, for nobody knows for sure what happens in death. The ambiguity of the stele highlights Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Examples Of Semiotic Analysis 1. Introduction and Background In this essay I will evaluate the various components used to construct meaning in Figure 1 by means of a semiotic analysis. I will discuss the theory of certain semiotic concepts and apply them to Figure 1 throughout the text. The image in Figure 1 delivers a visual message and it is supported by illustrated text, three captions, and two logos. The knowledge necessary to interpret the illustration is knowledge of writing and English (Barthes 1977: 153). This analysis is applicable to an adult audience familiar with 'food'– and 'diet' ideologies, as well as concepts of celebrity endorsement. 1.1 Context and Representation of Figure 1 The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) were founded in 1980 and...show more content... The consumption of meat becomes a moral issue. If consuming meat is considered to be immoral, then a vegetarian diet is the morally acceptable option. This logo challenges the morals of the viewer and is used to illicit a guilty response (Bailey 2007: 44, 50). Connotatively6 this sign can imply that, unlike animals, the reader does not have a 'heart' until he/she embraces a vegetarian diet. This connotation contradicts the primary phrase in Figure 1; "All animals have the same parts". Another connotation deliberately used by PETA, is the image of the blue silhouetted cow; its shape is popularly associated with dairy and beef products within the consumer market. Through this the reader immediately associates the symbol with food products and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Essay about Google Analytics Concept A. What type of opinion did the auditors issue on Google's financial statements for 2007? What is the date of the audit opinion? Explain why the opinion date is different than the date of the financial statements. Ernst & Young provides an unqualified opinion following their review of Google'sfinancial statements. They state that Google has performed effective internal control over their financial reporting, but they do go onto state that they changed their accounting methods in previous years as a note. The date of the audit, February 14th, is later than the issuance of the statements, January 31st, because the auditors must wait for the statements to be finalized before performing their review. Why might managers provide earnings guidance or earnings forecast in advance of the release of the actual earnings number for a quarter? Why might managers choose not to provide earnings guidance in advance of earnings? Earnings guidance (aka 'forward looking statements') is the forecast of earnings issued by management that is used to try and influence the opinions issued by financial analysts. They use these to try and 'walk down' market expectations of future earnings of the corporation. Managers may choose not to issue earnings guidance in the case that they expect strong earnings and actually want analysts to inflate expectations that in turn can drive stock prices up or they may choose not to issue earnings guidance if there's not enough data to make a confident statement. The advantage of providing earnings guidance before earnings are announced is to control the message and try to frame the changes. These comments often focus on sales or earnings expectations in light of industry and macroeconomic trends. These comments are made to investors so that they can evaluate the company's earnings potential. . Some managers choose not to release this information before earnings as they have a different strategy for messaging Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Journal Article Analysis Essay example Journal Article Analysis tgkoontz University of Phoenix Abstract A Week 3 assignment in the class, PHL/717 Constructing Meaning, required a philosophical analysis of an article in the Journal of Psychology. The article investigated how the connection between knowledge and learning influenced individuals to think about controversial everyday issues. The scientific community has debated the methodology of the attainment of knowledge since Aristotle. Social science, such as the study analyzed here, wants to develop a more engaged relationship between knowledge and practice (Delanty & Strydom, 2003). Conceiving their study on previous research done about the nature of knowledge and the nature of learning that influences thinking, Schommer–Aikins and Hutter (2002) introduced an additional element of contemporary controversial issues encountered in everyday life. Their research looked to populations outside of academia to support their hypotheses. Generally, they were able to prove a relationship exists between individual beliefs about knowledge and learning and the ability to demonstrate higher order thinking. Education and critical thinking influence these beliefs (p. 16). The nature of knowledge and learning beliefs influence thinking in everyday life. Methodology Kuhn (1996) describes a paradigm as the accepted norm of a science. The standards, rules, and scientific tradition one follows in a particular area of scientific study comprise the paradigm. Research, such as the one described here, "is a cumulative enterprise, eminently successful in its aim, the steady extension of the scope and precision of scientific knowledge" (p. 52). I was the typical procrastinator because I would wait until the night before a paper was due to start it. My writing styles have many strengths and weaknesses and I have been able to improve my writing because of them. I have learned from my strengths and weaknesses how to become a better writer. This class has helped me to learn to take the little steps along the way because then there will not be as much work to do towards the end. This has also made me realize that the final product of my writing will turn out better because it will have had more time to develop, which means that there would have been more opportunities to proofread. I think by learning many styles of writing, such as paraphrasing, summarizing, analyzing, and researching; it has enabled me to be able to write more broadly. By knowing how to correctly use all of these kinds of writing styles, it will help me in the future for other classes because I will have the knowledge that I need to write these types of papers. I still procrastinate sometimes, but not as much as I used to. I will be able to improve on this as time goes along because I will become more motivated by seeing the end result, which usually would be better grades. • 15. Othello Analysis Essay examples The tragedy of Othello, written by William Shakespeare, presents the main character Othello, as a respectable, honorable, and dignified man, but because of his insecurities and good nature, he is easily taken advantage of and manipulated by his peers and alleged friends. The dynamic of Othello's character significantly changes throughout the play. The contrast is most pronounced from the beginning of the play to its conclusion, switching from being calm and peaceful to acts of uncontrolled venomous rage. Othello's motivation in the play appears to be his love and concern for his wife Desdemona, which ironically, ends up being his downfall in the end. In the beginning of the play Othello exhibits behaviors leading one to believe that he...show more content... The duke then sent Othello and some of his men to command a military patrol in Cyprus. Othello takes Desdemona with him and in Cyprus he continued to be polite, respectful, and charming, saying things like, "It gives me wonder great as my content to see you here before me" (II.i.83). He says this to Desdemona reassuring his love and care for her. By the middle of the play Othello's mood and demeanor seem to shift from being peaceful and patient to very anxious, paranoid, and gullible. For example when Othello is talking to Iago and Iago suggests that maybe his wife is not being faithful to him, it becomes Othello's obsession to get down to the bottom of it and catch her. "I have been talking with your suitor here, a man that languishes in your displeasure / Who is't you mean / Why, your lieutenant, Cassio. Good my lord" (III.iii.41–43). In this dialog between Othello and Iago, with just two sentences Iago causes Othello to lose trust in his wife and believe she is being unfaithful to him which grows stronger and stronger each scene of the play. Because Iago is extremely cunning and manipulative, he is able to control almost anyone he chooses and he is in control of Othello's emotions because he knows the things Othello fears. Iago is pretending to be Othello's friend but secretively is going behind his back and bringing him down. Iago convinces Othello that Cassio is having an affair with Desdemona. • 16. The School Voucher program was designed to give families a choice about where their children could go to school. The program offered a fixed dollar amount each year to put toward a child's tuition. Their choices ranged from private or parochial schools, these are schools that many of these children may not experience otherwise. Charter schools were also options because they are run much like private schools. The thought behind voucher programs is that a sense of competition would be created. Although, the system would help some students they would not help them all, vouchers are offered in limited numbers. As each state works through this political quagmire, the debate continues. School vouchers are not the savior to public education that they set out to be, as long as the vouchers are not offered to everyone equally. Funding to public education continues to be under siege so allocating funding toward a voucher program that everyone can not access may not be the best use of these dollars. The assumption that a sense of competition may develop among schools for the best and the brightest may be true but what about schools that can not compete. What happens to the children that will be left behind? Is the federal government prepared to improve public schools that are suffering from lack of funds? "School voucher programs undermine two great American traditions: universal public education and the separation of church and state" (Anti–Defamation League, 2005). While researching the voucher system this writer found that there are several factors to take into consideration such as: is the use of funds for the voucher program the best use of educational funds, what happens to the kids left behind in the public schools who do not get a voucher or can not afford to take advantage of the option, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Example Of Decision Analytic Models Decision analytic models are used to examine cost effectiveness of healthcare interventions. These models summarise available evidence succinctly for analysis. When there is a lack of observed evidence, expert opinions on the mean or median values (occasionally the minimum and maximum range) for the parameter of interest are commonly used. This does not provide sufficient information to examine whether the distribution of uncertainty surrounding the parameter of interest is representative of the expert's opinion. As this is a key component in Probabilistic Sensitivity Analysis (PSA) commonly used in decision analytic models, as recommended by NICE(1), there is need to ensure the appropriate distribution of parameter uncertainty to...show more content... This systematic review by Grigore et al(2) highlighted the need for guidelines to critically appraise elicitation exercises and suggested for more research to define these measurement criteria. The authors proposed that until a definitive checklist is developed, the validity and reliability of the elicitation exercise should always be reported explicitly. Following this 2013 systematic review, the same authors published an article in 2016, on a study that compared the results for two commonly used elicitation methods, the histogram and hybrid methods(3). This study had the following 3 objectives 1)Examine how these two methods appealed to the experts, 2)Determine if there were any differences in the elicited distributions and; 3)Compare the impact of the elicited distributions on an actual decision model The study results showed that 1)Generally, the experts found the histogram method easier to use compared to the hybrid method although the two elicitation methods were closely ranked by the experts in terms of ease of use and face validity 2)The distributions from the histogram method were slightly narrower than the distributions from the hybrid method, suggesting greater certainty when aggregated. While, the new opportunity offered a higher salary, the responsibilities where not tasks of interest.
