The Metropolitan Design Center (CMD) in Buenos Aires, Argentina was created to promote the local design industry and act as the main public organization supporting the economic, cultural, and social importance of design. The CMD offers programs to help small- and medium-sized businesses incorporate design into their operations to increase competitiveness and innovation, including providing strategic planning, design consulting, funding, and workforce training. After over a decade of efforts, the CMD has helped thousands of companies use design and now operates a 14,000 square foot facility as an ideas laboratory for the city.

EU INTERREG IV Program. CURE develops innovative solutions to the question of how the creative economy can play an active role in urban renewal processes in medium-sized cities in NWE. In contrast to bigger cities and metropoles with growing development conditions, where the market mainly pushes the development of creative urban quarters, the development of creative zones in medium-sized cities has to be pushed by local authorities and other local players. An active intervention of key stakeholders in the form of an integrated approach is needed.
