An Overview of the Advanced Trauma Life Support Certification Program
1.
2. Since 1997, Dr. Chris Endfinger has treated
patients as an attending physician in the
emergency department at TeamHealth
Southeast in Alabama. A skilled emergency
medical professional, Dr. Chris Endfinger has
received certifications in Pediatric
Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced
Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and
Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
3. First introduced in the United States by the
American College of Surgeons in January
1980, the ATLS certification program gives
doctors and other medical professionals the
knowledge and skills needed to
immediately manage patients with a wide
range of injuries. Through the program,
participants learn how to quickly assess a
patient’s condition, resuscitate and stabilize
him or her, and determine if the patient’s
injuries can be treated at their facility.
4. Appropriate for medical professionals with
or without previous trauma care
experience, ATLS provides an easy-to-remember
and reliable approach for
quickly assessing and treating trauma
patients. The program has been conducted
for doctors around the globe and is
currently available in the United States,
Canada, and nearly 60 other countries.
