A woodcutter who lived in a village and worked diligently from dawn to dusk to support his family accidentally dropped his axe into a river. An angel appeared and offered the woodcutter axes made of silver and gold to replace the iron axe, but the woodcutter insisted each time that they were not his axe. Impressed by the woodcutter's honesty, the angel rewarded him with the axes of silver and gold in addition to returning his original iron axe.
