Rhetorical Analysis A Trip
ANALYSIS OF THE TRIP
Have you ever been so excited for something that you literally cannot wait? Of course you have, I
m sure you have been really excited the night before Christmas. That same feeling is what I have
while planning and waiting for trips to happen. Some people can get a sort of high from
anticipating a trip, just like the night before your 21st birthday. This is just one of three different
phases you can go through during a trip: Anticipation, Experience Perceived Experience.
A. Anticipation: This is the first phase, where you decide to travel, choose where to go, plan the
details, and wait for the departure date. This phase can have an array of feelings attached to it:
feelings of excitement for the day you leave, stress ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though many people think that they had an incredible trip, one or two of the phases can
falsely simulate that feeling. For example, you may have been excited for over a year to go to
Paris and you can recall all of the amazing things that you saw, but in reality during the trip you
may have been stressed out of your mind and uncomfortable. I am not saying that your incredible
trip last month wasn t the best thing that you have ever done, just a realistic view at the emotional
roaster that you ride during your trip.

Get to the root of why you are traveling

Toddler Classroom Observation
Toddlers and preschoolers are at different developmental stages, and therefore require their
teachers to use different approaches and techniques to further learning. I completed my
observations at the Bright and Early Children s Learning Center where I observed a toddler
classroom and a preschool classroom. My observations took place from 8:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. on
the 21st and 28th of September. The first day that I observed I was placed in the toddler
classroom which had two teachers, Miss Ashlynn and Miss Miranda, and six students, most of
whom were two years old. In the preschool classroom there was one teacher, Miss Stephanie, and
eight students, each of whom were 3 years old or 4 years old. While the rooms were physically
similar, the teachers used different strategies and activities to appeal to the different age groups. In
the toddler classroom, the children interacted with each other, however many of them were more
interested in playing and exploring on their own. The children enjoyed free playat learningcenters,
story time, and outside play during my observation. The toddlers preferred parallel play in which
the children used similar toys in similar ways, but did not interact with each other. For example,
when one child began playing with the kitchen toys in the dramatic play center, soon all of the
children began playing with the available plastic food items. However, the children were more
interested in showing the teachers what they were doing and

My Most Memorable Moment In My Life
The definition of fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is
dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. One of my most memorable moments of my life was
the first time I went to Disney Land I was terrified but because of this trip I found out how to face
my fears.
The loud sounds of flying planes over me reminded me one of the scariest things I ve seen on tv
crashing in a plane. I didn t want to even go near the plane but I had to my parents paid
thousands for me to go on this trip so I stepped forward on the flimsy bridge that connects the
loud airport to the metal coffin plane. I knew I was a wimp but I had enough respect to do what
my parents wanted me to do. Flight to Las Angeles now departing. Were those the last words I
would hear besides me screaming to my death? The plane took off it wasn t bad at all maybe I
wouldn t die but time will tell. After an hour on the plane I realized I was going to be ok. Two
hours had passed and I really enjoyed this then over the loud speaker, Now landing in Las
Angeles please tighten seat belts as we land. The pilot stated. The landing, the death of me? But
when we touched the ground it wasn t bad felt a mild bump that was all more fun than scary. On
the way off the plane I looked into the cockpit that might be me one day. That was the day I came
over my fear of planes and actually made me want to be a pilot soaring over the skies seeing the
tiny people this became my dream.
We checked into our hotel and stayed their for the night thinking about the experince I had on
the plane, and thinking about the rides I would go on tomorrow. Most kids would be excited
and thrilled but my ten year old self a coward self was scared. The next day we went on a bus to
the front gates of Disney Land. I entered very anxious for if I would puke or as my mind seemed
set on dyeing. They said this place was magical I made up this stupid thing where if I would step
on certain tiles on the road I would be fine. I stepped up to Splash Mountain still only stepping on
the red tiles of the road. I climbed the walk way to the top of the mountain and stepped into the log
flume ride. I thought I might drown in the foot of water fall off the ride and

Sick Around the World
SW June 5, 2013 Sick Around The World Video Summary This movie went around the world to
different countries to show the comparisons and differences in healthcare compared to each other
and the U.S. The first country that was visited was the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom
spends 8.3% of their GDP on healthcare. The citizens pay nothing for premiums, all of it is paid
trough taxation. Some services require co pay, but all young people and all elderly are exempt
from drug co pays. The United Kingdom calls their healthcare system socialized medicine ; the
government provides for and pays for all healthcare. The taxes that Britons pay gets distributed up
to different healthcare providers. Since the United Kingdoms system is taxed,... Show more content

Because of this smart card, Taiwan has the lowest administrative costs in the world.
Unfortunately Taiwan is not bringing in enough money to support its healthcare services. The
fifth country that was visited was Switzerland. Switzerland spends 11.6% of its GDP on
healthcare. Citizens pay $750 a month for premiums. If you are too poor to pay for your
premiums, the government will pay. Citizens pay 10% of the cost of services for a co pay.
Switzerland also used the social insurance model. 95% of the population already had voluntary
insurance when they country switched systems. All citizens are required to have coverage.
Switzerland shows that in a high capitalist nation with powerful insurance and pharmaceutical
industries, universal coverage is possible. Insurance companies are not allowed to make a profit
off of basic care and are not able to select only young and healthy applicants. The government sets
the prices on drugs, but the insurers and providers negotiate on all other prices. Switzerland has
the second most expensive system behind the U.S. The Swiss do not have gatekeepers, some
insurance plans may require them or may give a discount for using them. I really would much
rather have one of these systems compared to the one that we have now. Although I do have good
insurance, I think some of these methods may be easier for most people. I could go

Family Robinson a courageous family who takes on several different creatures. The Donkey and
the Turtle were one of their creatures they carefully tamed. The Family established a donkey on
their unpredictable adventure on the island. The restraining of the donkey was not effortless. The
Family tied a rope slowly around the donkeys neck It was soon checked by the cord which, in
compressing the neck, almost stopped its breathing (Wyss, pg151). The Donkey soon determined if
he stays with the family he will stay safe. The second animal the family discovered was a turtle.

The Four Mythical Elements Of Whale Rider
Many voyages that heroin s encounter are regularly identified with the four mythical functions. In
the film, Whale Rider, through mythical creation powers, the hero endeavors to save her dying
culture. The creation myths power permits the courageous woman, Pai, to find her actual calling as
a real leader of the Maori tribe. By utilizing the myths, she dynamically finds her legend s adventure
by breaking down the images throughout her life. According to Campbell as discussed in Indick
article, this model The Monomyth has different functions as he clarifies the sociological,
mysterious, cosmological, and mental elements of myth (pg, 2). Campbell depicts the vital
capacities including myths as legendary or traditional story, typically... Show more content on

For the kid who might be the chief (Whale). Paikea turns out to be strongly fascinated on this
legend because of the way that she is the latest of the bloodline descendant, which implies she is
prepared to make every one of the basic decisions of being a chief other than the reality of being
female. The youthful heroic girl refers to the legend when contrasting with herself as an approach
to empower her rising as the current bloodline descendant. She keeps on participating in the myth
all through the movie with a specific end goal to express her enthusiasm for her way of life
(William, 3).
Similarly, William in page three explains that Campbell clarifies cosmological capacities as stories
enable the person to decide his/her place in the universe. The stellar capacity applies for the Whale
Rider because of the principle character growing up being recounted of their legend of how the
Maori tribe traveled to the territory they are acclimated to now. Pai characterizes herself
alongside her family history; she expresses a long time ago, my ancestor Paikea came to this
place on the back of a whale. Since then, in every generation of my family, the firstborn son has
carried his name and become the leader of our tribe... until now, (Whale). She continually alludes
back to the legend of her predecessor, Paikea, as a path for her to get the idea she is fit to do
likewise. Like her predecessor, Paikea could spare the way of life which is the thing that Pai is

The War Of A National Highway System
The term New Frontier was used by liberal, Democratic presidential candidate John F. Kennedy
in his acceptance speech. Kennedy entered office with the goal to get rid of Americas poverty,
and to raise America s eyes to the stars through the space program. During the New Frontier,
unemployment benefits were expanded, aid was provided to cities to improve housing and
transportation, funds were allocated to continue the construction of a national highway system
started under Eisenhower, a water pollution control act was passed to protect the country s rivers
and streams, and an agricultural act to raise farmers incomes was made law. The bay of pigs
invasion was a failed military invasion of Cuba. Brigade 2506, the group that attempted to
invade cuba, was made up of Cubans who fled the country after Castro s takeover, was trained
and funded by the CIA. The CIA Castro gone because he was a communist, and at the time
everyone was afraid of communists. This attack lasted three days before Brigade 2506 was
defeated. The Cuban missile crisis, also known as the October crisis, was a confrontation between
the U.S and Soviet Union and was the closest the Cold War came to being an actual war. In
response to the failed Bay of Pigs invasion, Castro reached out to the Soviet Union and asked for
nuclear missiles to scare away any more countries thinking about attacking Cuba. After a long
period of tense negotiations, an agreement was reached between President John F.

Reflection Book In A Bag Reflection
Book in a Bag Reflection The first grade classroom at Putnam Elementary School that I am placed
at is currently focused on a fairytales unit. The students had previously discussed the story
elements of a fairytale which correlates with the standard RL1.3. This standard states: Describe
characters, settings, and major events in a story using key details. My teacher referred to key
details as story elements for this lesson. The students had also read Cinderellatwo days previous to
my activity. The book I worked with is called Cinderquaker by Mike Thaler. This is a spin off story
to Cinderella where the characters are various birds. This activity served similarly to a post

An unexpected element of their literacy development was evident when a student pointed out that
I forgot to put a period on the end of one of my sentence examples. This is a high focus in a
classroom as well as capitalizing the first letter in a sentence. This was not the focus of my project
but shows the students are successfully developing in this area because they are noticing it in other
content areas. I fluently read the story stopping to make sure students pointed their story element. I
would use inflection when I reached story element like Fairy Mom to emphasis the key words. This
was important to the reading because not all the elements were exactly the same as most story, for
example fairy godmother was called fairy mom and instead of once upon a time it reads Once
there was a little duck . These slight changes in word choice made it difficult for the students to
pick up on the elements. For the next time, I would consider explaining this to the students
before hand so that they know the exact key words to be looking for. The main skill I focused on
was vocabulary specifically story elements of fairytales. I printed out the student s the element
they were to look with a picture so that they could see the words and how it is spelled while also
relating it to the picture. Before I began to read, I had the students explain to me what

Church In The Canterbury Tales
Canterbury is an English cathedral city which was a popular pilgrimage site in the
Medieval Era. However, in the Middle Ages, the members of the clergy did not always live up to
their lofty expectations and standards. The Church s credibility, at this time, was diminishing due to
the actions of its officials. Geoffrey Chaucer, author of The Canterbury Tales, took this pilgrimage
and along the way met a few of these questionable clerical figures. During the
General Prologue of the work, Chaucer provides a comical representation of all the characters he
meets on his journey. His description of clerical members, such as the Monk, criticize their actions
and interests. In addition to the Monk, he meets a nun with questionable morals and a deceitful,
selfish friar. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of the Nun relaxing on this principle exhibits the decline of the Church s credibility. In
addition to her lax fashion choices, the Nun spoils herself in her diet. Similar to monks, nuns
maintained a very strict lifestyle. Chaucer s Nun fails to abide with this minimalist culture when it
comes to food.
Chaucer describes her as by no means undergown which insinuates that she is not a dainty
woman like her peers (GP 160). Nuns, like monks, also prohibited the donning of jewelry or other
items personal items. Once again, the Nun fails to observe this ideal and proceeds to bear a
glaring brooch on her clothing (GP 164). In addition to this, Chaucer observes, She wore a coral
trinket on her arm which further defies the monastic code (162). Furthermore, the Nun is by no
means an upstanding member of the medieval clerical community. Chaucer s portrayal of the Nun
as a immoral and pompous figure further aids the argument of the Church s hypocrisy.
Continuing the themes of hypocrisy and corruption, Chaucer s Friar contradicts his divine position
with his deceitful actions towards society. He exploits his position in order to get

Why Is Alexander The Great Bad
Alexander the Great was a Macedonian king, a fierce warrior, and able to conquer many lands.
He was from Macedonia but mainly associated with Greece. Although Alexander the Great may
have done amazing things, he was overall ruthless and evil. Alexander the Great should be
remembered as a villain because he mistreated many people, conquered lands in war and showed
rage and aggressiveness. Alexander the Great was a ruthless villain because he mistreated many
people. He mistreated people by selling 30,000 of them as slaves, and and killing 6,000 people. I
think this is uncalled for and in unnecessary. When you show that much anger and frustration for no
reason, you will be remembered in a negative way. This proves my point on Alexander the Great

The Professional Career Of An Mba Student

endeavor of higher education. This endeavor will in turn benefit the learner in many ways, it will
create an opportunity of higher earnings and potential sign on bonuses as well as allow for higher
positions within a company and often creates the next CEO of a company.

In the following article males or females did not solicit a significant result when other factors such
as marital status, or socioeconomic status were held constant however, when they did a cross
sectional study they found that women and blacks had lower chances of promotion which falls in
line with other studies findings. The main finding of the study by Supangco was that companies
mostly consider experience. Experience is essentially invaluable and can result in multiple
promotions and significant pay increases. (Supangco, 2011)
The Supangco study set out to better understand the world of business and the hiring processes
used. The previous findings show that it is still a male dominated field but women and African
Americans are starting to break down the walls. I would have liked to see a little more information
on the results of professionals that had a low socioeconomic status or single status. These two
categories were mentioned but never elaborated on in the results.
In the article by Agnello and Hunt it was debated if a part time degree or a full time degree was
more beneficial to the students, were they more successful? The authors stated we find a part time
degree is a worthwhile investment in human capital particularly if the degree is completed early
in an individuals career (Agnello Hunt, 1976). The article goes on to say that it doesn t seem to

Navajo Weavers Essay
No weaver can go without a loom. It is speculated that the Navajos adopted their vertical loom
style from the Pueblo people (Kaufman and Selser 10). The traditional vertical loom is made
from branches of wood tied together with cordage. This portable loom was perfect for the
nomadic lifestyle of the Navajos (Kaufman and Selser 10). Navajo weavers have always used the
same basic structure for the loom. The size of the loom depends on what the weaver is creating,
yet more recently looms have been made much smaller for beginners. In an interview with my
brother Chris Brown, an intermediate weaver, he said, When I first started weaving, my teacher at
DinГ© College had me work with a loom that was only a foot tall. (Brown). The length and width

There is a Navajo tradition of rubbing spider webs on a baby s hand or hair so that they will
become great weavers. In DinГ© Bahane or the Navajo Creation story, Spider Man made the
first loom and tools from sunshine, lightening, and rain and Spider Woman instructed the
Navajos in the techniques of weaving. It is said that they Holy People taught the Navajos how
to weave so that the Navajos could provide for themselves and stay warm (Brown). Throughout
the centuries, Navajos have wove to provide for their families. Unlike other Southwest tribes,
Navajos are not masters in the realms of pottery or basketry, instead Navajos are known for their
woven rugs. While weavers from the early 20th century and contemporary weavers differ in some
aspects, they both use the loom to depict Navajo designs. Navajo weaving has evolved in terms of
technique, materials, artistic style, and spiritual meaning. Despite the changes, weaving has and
will always be a key component in Navajo culture. When I interviewed Jaren Numkena, he said,
Weaving is my job right now but I only weave when it feels right. To me, weaving is life.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Many people in today s society tend to only listen to the beat of the song rather than the
meaning, and vise versa. They either like the lyrics or like the beat and do not fully understand
the meaning. For example, Foster the People s Pumped Up Kicks is a very catchy song with a
good chorus but the meaning is misconstrued. The meaning and the musicality is not intertwined.
It is a song about a a disturbed kid going on a killing spree. Unlike Foster the People, people
adore Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, a nineteenth century poet, not because he had a good rhythm,
but because he intertwines musicality and imagery. He merges sight and sound to establish a
cinematic orchestra and paints a vivid image full of depth and personality. Henry Wadsworth
Longfellow incorporates religion through the influence of nature and the strong presence of
musicality in The Cross of Snow , My Lost Youth , Autumn and The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls .
Many of Longfellow s influences on his works have sprouted from his early life experiences.
Longfellow was born in Portland, Maine to Stephen Longfellowand Zilpah Longfellow. As a child
Longfellow was known for his vivid imagination. Little did he know that his childhood
experiences sparked many of ideas for his future works. Stephen Longfellow was a leading
Portland lawyer who wished to start Longfellow s education early. Thus, Longfellow began
schooling at the age of three and attended college at fourteen. Gartner states that The tier of

It ends with Hide telling Kaneki to live. It might not be stylish but live. Such a game changing
line. And at the bottom there we read A world is destroyed. Which is referring to Demian Hesse
s work. It means that someone has finally been reborn. It was also mentioned back in part 1 when
Kaneki fought Nishiki for the first time. It s also the one behind why the this chapter s title is K s
Egg. The K most likely refers to our main protagonist, Kaneki Ken.
While we re at it, there s actually an extensive meaning to it. The full quote reads The bird fights
its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world. The
bird flies to God. That God s name was Abraxas.
Abraxas is designated as the power above all. Pretty much praised as the first ruler. It s also said
that he is both an Egyptian and a demon. I guess that pretty much says a lot already. Also, Abraxas
looks a bit like Kaneki s recent kakuja. A bird like figure.
Almost forgot to mention his hair. It s finally white again! Don t think it really suddenly turned

Book showed us how people whose parents that are gone or left can still be cared for by others
and it shows the audience that a dead corpse can love a child as much as the living which shows
that anyone can be cherished or loved by anybody. I think it out does any other book in the genre

by doing that the book appeals to me both emotionally and logically because it makes you love

History Of Roman Number Symbols
The history of Roman Number Symbol are represented by letters. The Roman numerbs are
represented by seven different letters are I, V, X, L, and D. Therefore, these roman letters represent
1, 5, 10, 100, and 500. Ancient Roman use these seven letters to make a lot of different numbers
and to be written of the Roman alphabet. In the Etruscans was an ancient civilization of Italy
developed their own numeral systemwith different symbols. A common theory of the origin Roman
numeral system was represented by hand signal. For example, the Roman numeral system by hand
signal was used like one, two, three and four signaled by the equivalent amount of fingers that were
used. Then, The numberfive is represented by the thumb and fingers separated, making a V shape
and The number ten is represented by either crossing the thumbs or hands, signaling an X shape
(Pollard). Therefore, the numbers; six, seven, eight and nine are represented by one hand signaling
a five and the other representing the number 1 through to 4. The hand signal was used for counting
by either crossing the thumbs, fingers separated, and signaled, which helped to hand... Show more

After selecting a group composed mainly of my close friends, we began to read through the various
materials given to us to help us successfully complete the simulation. After watching a few of the
videos from our customers and reading the given document about Minnesota Mircromotors, we
began the simulation. Before the simulation started our group decided that we wanted to put
customer satisfaction as our top priority, over market share and profit. After our first quarter, we
began to panic because every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From then on out I left market research at the required $50,000 just to stay safe. One of the most
important parts of the game I found was spending on IMC. After the first quarter as a group,
when we did very poorly, we found that putting money into IMC was the best way to increase
our profit and market share. What I found that worked best regarding IMC, was to basically put
all additional budget into it. Almost every quarter I did this, my profits would continue to rise.
When I did the simulation individually, every time I gained more money in my total budget that
money would address IMC first. IMC was definitely the key to the game for me. The single most
argued part of the simulation for our group was the distribution of money in Power To Size Ratio,
Manufacturing, and Thermal Resistance. At first it seemed that no matter what we did as a group
some customer would complain about something. No customer complained more than Customer B
complaining about wanting more thermal. Our group found ourselves always arguing over how
much money to put into which of the three categories. We never really did a great job doing so
because there was always an unhappy customer. What I found to be the best method was based on
sure luck. I really wanted to take some relatively large risks in my last attempt at the individual
simulation so I cut out Manufacturing Efficiency Improvement entirely. After two quarters of
making a huge profit, I kept that up until the end. This

The Age Of Revolutions And The Modern World
The Age of Revolutions and the Modern World
Name:
Institution:
Introduction
The period from 1774 to 1848, is referred to as the Age of Revolution. This is because it saw
various significant revolutionary movements take place that gave way to the complex modern
world. These revolutions took place in different regions in Europe and across America. Some of the
revolutions include: American Revolution, the Haitian Revolution, the revolt of the slaves in Latin
America, the Greek Revolution, the French Revolution, and the independence movements of nations
in Latin America. These revolutions are considered to have impacted the world as they changed
different aspects of society including social setup, political aspects and the economic set up of the
world (Matson, 2005).
The term modernization refers to the transformation or change of a society from a rural and
agrarian position to a more urban, secular and industrial position. Modernization developed rapidly
after the age of revolution and changed the society. The idea of modernization is derived from the
notion of an evolutionary society. This involves the transition of society from barbarism to a

events that led to the rise of these revolutions. Some of these factors include citizens of each state

Battle of Lexington. The American Revolutionary Warwas a fight for the independence from the
colonial rule of the British. The French revolution started a decade after the American revolution.
Similar to the American revolution, the French revolution occurred following the desire to change

Sustainability In Marketing
The Relevance of Sustainability in Marketing Decision Making
Introduction
Sustainable marketing calls for socially and environmentally responsible actions that meet the
present needs of consumers and businesses while preserving and enhancing the ability of future
generations to meet their needs (Kotler amp; Armstrong 2012, p. 582). The aim of sustainable
marketing is to satisfy the customer s the needs and wants while also putting high emphasis on the
environment and the social issues and thus creating profits in a socially responible way. Mention

customers and build strong customer relationships in order to capture value from customers ... Show

Walmart constantly initiates sustainability initiatives which postively affects the customer s
environmental behaviors, employees and its suppliers. It also promotes sustainablity to its
employees by initiating personal sustainability project (PSP) where employees are committed to
responsible acts in front of their coworkers like from quitting smoking to replacing their lighting
system at their house with energy saving bulbs. Because Walmart operates under very stringent
environmentally focused practices they also enforce many laws to its suppliers to examine the
carbon life cycle of their products and change the way they manufacture, package and transport the
goods. This strategy saves Walmort extra costs which in turn reduce costs on the poducts they sell
and which adversely can save customers money. This creates a win win scenario for both Walmart

Mortal Women In The Aeneid
Through Vergil s characterization of mortal women in the Aeneid, he strengthens his narrative and
deepens its poetic effect by displaying them repeatedly as expenses necessary for the founding of
Rome. The first woman sacrificed to the greater cause of Rome is Aeneas s wife, Creusa, who was
left behind in the burning of Troy and died. The second woman abandoned was Dido, who Aeneas
had to leave behind heartbroken so he could fulfill his fate. The third women lost for Rome was
Camilla, the warrior maiden who was killed by a Trojan because she was the Trojan s enemy in
battle for Italy. These three mortal women were the expenses to found Rome, emphasized by Vergil
by characterizing all them as obstacles of Aeneas s fate and giving them the similar outcome of
death.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If he brought his Trojan wife to Italy, then they would just be reestablishing the Trojan race,
which was not his fate. Aeneas needed to marry another woman from another nation, so they
could have children that would be not solely Trojan; however, Aeneas had a wife. Vergil could
not have polygamy in his epic because he under the family orientated Emperor Augustus. Emperor
Augustus was trying to encourage family values back into Rome, and Vergil was aware of this.
To avoid this complication, Vergil wrote Creusa off by having her perish in the fall of Troy. She
needed to die in order for Aeneas to found the Roman

Essay about The Revolutionary War
The Revolutionary War
The Revolutionary War started on April 19, 1775 at Lexington and Concord. America was very
much unprepared with no central government or army. The congress stepped up as the government
and began to organize an army. The Revolutionary War did not end until September 3, 1783 with
the signing of the final peace treaty between America and Great Britain. The victory in the
Revolution War led to the birth of a new independent nation. After the Revolution it was a time of
cooperation. People in the nation were focusing on building a government, migrating west and their
new found freedom. Military actions were more in surrounding areas mainly France, Mexico and
Britain. In 1798 was the XYZ affair, an event that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the first battle of the Civil War the Upper states in the South also seceded. Abraham Lincoln
was able to persuade Maryland, Delaware, Kentucky, and Missouri to stay in the Union. By doing
this Lincoln gained access to the river systems in Kentucky and Missouri that led into the heart of
the South. This control effected the 1862 invasions of the south, which provided the North with
most of its early military successes. The Civil War was total trench warfare. Technology was the
main event that influenced total trench warfare. Technology led to ideas such as strategy, weapons,

The Civil War was an event that impacted the United Statesgreatly economically, politically and

*Political Constitutional Developments After the American Revolutionended there was a debate on

How Did The Light Bulb Affect Society
The incandescent light bulb was a phenomenal discovery that occurred during the late 1800 s and
was mainly invented by a man named Thomas Edison. It became a recent essential product that we
humans use on a daily basis in many more appliances than one. This invention was created in 1890

The first reason for this is because after the invention of the light bulb helped people sell the
incandescent light bulbs and earn money from it ( Incandescent Light Bulb. ). During that time,
the incandescent light bulb was very expensive to buy since it was a very new invention and
idea to many people. But later on, they adjusted the prices so that people in the middle class
could buy it as well. This helped the economy since more work could be done because people
who worked in factories produced more goods, therefore, there was more to sell ( Lighting A
Revolution: 19th Century Consequences. ). As well as that, an electric industry was produced
and more people were spending money on electricity to power their homes. The electric light
bulb also brought new ways of leisure such as film projections. The incandescent light bulb also
lead to other inventions such as the microwave oven, televisions, microscopes and cameras and
those are only a few of the inventions that came out of the incandescent light bulb ( Light Bulb
History Invention of the Light Bulb. ). In the end, the incandescent light bulb caused a huge
economical boom from when it was created since it was at a high demand of electricity and
required a lot of money, as well as that, it helped people to be able to work for longer periods of

The United States had a huge impact on Ireland. It can be stated that it started off with the
Americas shipping potatoes up to Ireland. The Irish became dependent on the spud as there were

them, or stick them in a stew along with many other delicacies. By 1845, 40 percent of the country
s population routinely lived almost entirely on potatoes.
Along came Ireland s great famine between 1845 and 1952. This famine not only killed through

Jim Sardonis Reverence Analysis
The sculpture that caught my eye the most for this assignment is called Reverence by Jim
Sardonis. This piece of artwork is a three dimensional assemblage sculpture. It is made of pieces
of granite which is an igneous rock. It was put together piece by piece which required special
tools and equipment and also a lot of space to work. It is an in the round sculpture, which means the
whole thing cannot be photographed in one photo and there are many different views of it
depending on where you are standing. This is a beautiful sculpture that has many meaning to it.
It depicts two whales tails as they appear to be diving into a field of grass. The grass represents the

Sardonis made this art to show the world that we, as a whole, have a great effect on the living
creatures in this world, no matter how big or how small. We should have much more respect
towards animals that live in our oceans. The whales tails in the sculpture are about 12 feet long.
I assume they would look very large in person but they are nowhere near the size of a realistic
whale s tail. I think seeing the big tails in person would make people realize little things can and
should be prevented so we don t destroy the habitats and homes of underwater creatures like these
huge whales. Whenever humans let unnatural substances into the water, (example: oil spills) it
causes pollution which is leading to the extinction of whales. This sculpture is making people
notice the beauty of these humongous whales in hopes of making us more cautious in what we do
in our everyday lives to preserve the lives of these mammals. It will be our fault when the species
of whales are extinct. Humans continue to pollute oceans everyday by putting our dirty, untreated
sewage water straight into the water where these animals live. This is causing the population of
whales and other animals in the ocean to die down

2. Do you agree with Wal Mart s entry strategy? From a cross cultural perspective, what are the
inherent risks? Do you think that a faster market entry would be more effective?
Yes, I agree. From the perspective of crossing culture, the inherent risks include trust, power
problems, and communication problems. Wal Mart bought Seiyu to enter Japanese market. It is
difficult to communicate between 2 countries which have totally difficult cultures. No matter in the
language or in mind. Language problem may be more easy to solved. They can apply interpreters,
but the culture stuff influent people s thinking, behavior. People from different culture think
from different ways. Trust can be also a big problem. Firm engaged in international trade have to
trust someone they may have never seen, who lives in a different country, who speaks a
different language, who abides by ( or does not abide by) a different legal system, and who could
be very difficult to track down if he or she defaults on an obligation.(Charles, 1994) Another
problem is power. Both Japan and U.S are the masculinity country, they are ambitious and fight for
power while work in same place.
I don t think the faster market entry would be effective. Because Wal Mart

Difference Between Altruism And Altruism
INTRODUCTION
Our generation today focuses much more on personal gain, prioritizing themselves for pleasure
and self enjoyment. We are in a generation where good name is no more preferred or precious
than gold, rather, money is a good name and more precious than a good one, where love for one
self, vanity, and giving importance on earthly things counts as a way of having success by
pursuing what is best for us and for our loved ones. The Me Generation only shows that people
give so much gratitude and admiration to themselves, and that their concentration is self centered
and egoistic. This kind of attitude leads people to care less about the social, political, economic
and environmental aspects of our lives. Today s generation focuses on acquiring worldly things
by having so much money, power, and fame, whereas the idea of having concern with other
people in the society is starting to disappear. The I syndrome is placing ourselves before others; a
situation whereby people seek their own interests and needs to satisfy themselves, families,
relatives and those close to them first before others. Regardless of the fact that there are people that
are into the I syndrome, there still exists an act of being concerned about other people s happiness
called Altruism . Altruism, in contrast with the I syndrome, is an unselfish concern for other ... Show

This behavior refers to any action that benefits other people, no matter what the motive or how
the giver benefits from the action. By that, we could say that altruistic acts are pro social.
However, pure altruism consists of true selflessness and that, not all pro social acts are fully
altruistic. Perhaps, this is the reason why some people could not set apart altruism from egoism.
Pure and absolute altruism can be found once a person fully recognizes a selfless act from an act
that is self beneficial and

Preventing Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a medical condition that causes the bones to become delicate and breakable due
to a loss of tissue, usually caused by hormonal changes and even a deficiency of calcium, which
includes vitamin D. If upon a minor fall, or lifting an object the wrong way you may experience a
broken bone, that could be a sign of osteoporosis. Although it is true that while people age, they
lose bonedensity, it is not true that everyone will for sure get Osteoporosis. There is no known cure
yet for Osteoporosis, however, there are several treatment plans available. The most important part
of dealing with Osteoporosis is knowing proper prevention, providing your body with the right
nutrients to maintain healthy bones, and knowing the treatments accessible to you if you happen to
acquire the disease.
In preventing Osteoporosis you must increase bone density as much as you can while you re young

Trends Of Property Prices Are Negatively Tracked By...
Trends in property prices are passionately tracked by economists because it is often a person s
biggest purchase and can also affect the rest of the economy. Property price trends are affected by
many factors, however they are like all other normal goods, price and demand are inversely related,
if the houseprices are high fewer people will be willing and able to buy a house. Property prices
tend to increase as time goes by, this is positive equity as the owners are better off. However, as
seen in the 2008 recession many people were in negative equity because the outstanding debt is
more than the house s retail value. If consumer confidence is absent it discourages expenditure,

Since there are more people in the UK, and they are living longer, the number of second hand
properties being sold is less, causing the prices of ones on the market to increase.
Dwellings have a high income elasticity of demand, so if the level of income increases demand for
property will also increase. Also, when people s income increases they are more likely to buy
properties than rent, also increasing average prices. There has been an overall increase in house
prices because 20 years ago average income was ВЈ19,774, peaking to 24,683 in 2008, then
decreasing to ВЈ22,524 in 2014 (source: rate inflation).
Social trends can also affect house prices, recently a trend has emerged for later marriages, the

has led to an increase in demand for smaller dwellings such as apartments, causing the prices of
these forms of residence to rise.
The Bank of England can change the base rate of interest; this will be passed on by banks to the

people out from being able to afford the house they want, decreasing demand for houses and
lowering the value of ones on the market. Recently, due to the economic crash the interest rate has

Art Nouveau Rhetorical Analysis
The article that I chose to analyze was The Role of Women in the Iconography of Art Nouveau
by Jan Thompson. The main argument in this essay is the depiction of women as objects in the
Nouveau style and how they were highly idealized and depicted very differently than they
appeared in real life. The intended audience for this essay is women. The author was able to
successfully argue and prove their thesis through historical perspective, detailed analyses of the
depiction of women as objects, and the use of relevant primary sources. Thompson gives a brief
description of what was happening during the time of the Art Nouveau style and how it affected
the depiction of women. During this time, suffrage was beginning to take hold in society and
women were beginning to embrace their own individualism and began taking their lives into their
own hands. The author argues that the depiction of women as highly idealized objects was a
reaction to this movement and was an attempt by artists to resist the changes in society. The
depiction of women as fragile, helpless objects was to reinforce the belief that women were inferior
to men. The idealization of women in the Art Nouveau style was an attempt by artists of the time to

She argues that Job Cigarettes by Alphonse Mucha shows how women were used as sexual
objects in advertising. This supports her thesis, as using women as an appealing factor in
advertising during the time shows how women were considered objects in the Art Nouveau style.
Delftsche Slaolie by Jan Toorop also shows how hair was used as an exaggeration of women s
sexuality. The use of women as sexual objects in a simple salad oil advertisement further reinforces
the idea that women were objects meant to appeal towards male audiences. Using works from the
time gives her argument credibility because she is supporting her thesis with works from the Art

This article is about a conspiracy theory involving the destruction of our planet. In this conspiracy
theory people believe that Planet X is soon going to collide with Planet Earth. The question is
how could this be possible seeing Planet X is 10 times bigger than our planet. With this conspiracy

The Kardashians Are Encouraging Young Women to Be Promiscuous What exactly is the
definition of promiscuous? Most people would say being sexy, others might think it s being

Essay about Music throughout Society
Music throughout Society
We ve been talking a lot about social rituals. Well, just what exactly is a social ritual? Social
rituals are, basically, traditions or customs that a society has followed for many years. For
example, in America, most people follow the custom of dating. In Israel, they tend to follow the
tradition of arranged marriages. Yet, in some countries, they use courtship. Even though all
three of these approaches to finding a mate are different, they all are very similar because they are
all Social Mating Rituals. Now, of course, mating isn t the only social ritual. The way our culture
responds to and views death is a social ritual in and of itself. So is the way we do warfare. The way
we eat and the way we clothe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many artists knew this to be true and took advantage of it. Music rapidly began to influence
every aspect of American lives. It was heard in their homes, cars, offices, theaters, movies,
elevators and countless other places. Music made it s way everywhere. The songs that were
sung defined what every American loved and worked for. It gave people hope and joy, as well as
bringing out every other emotion possible. Music was around during the bad times as well as the
good. When people were down there were songs they could relate to, and when they were happy
there were songs they could sing and dance to (Ennis, 1992).
In the 1920 s the first pop music began with the big bands. They were a popular choice for many
listeners, but new forms of it were already starting to branch. Swing and Jazz soon became very
popular styles of music. They mainly consisted of several trumpets, saxophones, and even stringed
instruments. A deeper bass, piano and percussion then supported them. Jazz got it s influence from
African American folk music, such as ragtime, fife and drum bands, string bands and spirituals.
Because of the newness of Jazz music, it exploded though out the United States quickly. Jazz had
a huge impact on the people of the early 1900 s. It lessened racism to some degree, and started
opening people s minds to other forms of dancing, which was considered an indecent act among
many societies. African American people gained a little more acceptance through Jazz music

Pro Bono Cons
Introduction The concept of mandatory pro bono and whether or not lawyers should be required to
participate in this public service has been the contentious subject of debate over recent years.
Focusing on Mirko Bagaric and Penny Dimopoulos statement: In our view not only do lawyers not
have a duty to act for free, but they are misguided in doing so and should, for the long term benefit
of the community, cease engaging in pro bono work, this essay will critically analyse the
implications of introducing mandatory pro bono into the legal profession by examining both the
positive and negative aspects through the issues of altruism, tradition, government funding and the
onus on small firms. Arguments for Mandatory Pro Bono The benefits of... Show more content on

Mirko Bagaric and Penny Dimopoulos argue that the introduction of mandatory pro bono will
only encourage the government to continue to decrease it s funding of legal aid services as the
government will further shirk the responsibility onto the legal profession. For example, the
current Australian budget has proposed yet another large decrease in government funding for
2017 2018, this includes the quarantining of some of the community legal centre funding.
Furthermore, it is not fair of the government to place an expectation on the legal to perform legal
services for free when there is no similar altruistic expectation placed on professional from other
areas, such as: physiotherapists, chiropractors, doctors and psychologists. All the services
provided by these other professions for free or at a discount are usually done so because the costs
are then subsidized by the government. The introduction of mandatory pro bono should not be seen
as a means for the government to avoid their responsibility to the legal community, instead if it is
to be introduce it would need to be followed by the agreement of the government to provide more
funding to legal

Horseshoe Crab Essay
The horseshoe crab, Limulus polyphemus
The horseshoe crab, Limulus polyphemus is known as a marine chelicerate arthropod. It s from the
Limulidae family and more commonly found along the northern Atlantic coast of North America.
The horseshoe crab makes use of different habits depending on it s current stage of development.
They lay there eggs on the coastal beaches during the late spring and summer. Once the eggs hatch,
the young horseshoe crabs are found offshore, within sandy areas of tidal flats. Adult horseshoe
crabs are found in deeper parts of the ocean waters (National Wildlife Federation). The horseshoe
crab is more related to arachnids, which is a group related to spiders and scorpions, rather than
crustaceans, which are more related to crabs, shrimps and lobsters (Florida Fish and Wildlife
Conservation Commission).
The lifespan of a horseshoe crab is up to 20 40 years in the wild. There structure has not changed
much for the past 445 million years. One hypothesis is that the hard exoskeleton of horseshoe
crab allows them to survive predators and as a result they have been to live through many decades.

I, myself, have found that I do try to multi task with several different things in a days time. I find
that if you focus on one thing at a time, it helps you understand it better. I plan on working
towards just doing one thing at a time; by first learning not to rush things so I have time to do it.
With kids, and work at times, it is hard to just sit down and focus on one certain thing at a time.
When it comes to focusing on school work, I find that it is best to find somewhere quiet and
calm to do your work. Although I have a hard time doing this at times, I know the importance of
focusing on one thing. When you try to do more than one thing, you tend to let some things slip.
As an adult with kids, you try to do as much as possible in a short amount of time. At times, you
will forget about something or overlook something, all because you were multi tasking. In order
to succeed, I feel as though you should only focus on one thing/item at a time. In order to do so,
you must make time in your day/agenda. If I can learn anything aside from Criminal Justice, it is

Mission Command As A Military Leader
Mission Command is a military leader s guide to being an effective and reasonable leader
maintaining both command and control of garrison and wartime environments. Mission Command
is guided by six principles beginning with build cohesive teams through mutual trust, create shared
understanding, provide a clear commander s intent, exercise disciplined initiative, use mission
orders, and accept prudent risk ( 3. Army Staff. Mission Command. Fort Benning, Maneuver
Center of Excellence). These six principles are what Mission Command is built around and they
allow leaders to reach their full potential, if adhered to properly. The problem is that leaders
believe they are following these principles, when in reality their subordinates may not see it the
same way. The principles that show the biggest issues would be shared understanding, and a clear
commander s intent. Creating a shared understanding and providing a clear commander s intent
really go together, because without one you cannot have the other. The problem with these
principles is that what is clear to one subordinate or individual is not clear to another, not everyone
has the same reading comprehension skills or the same train of thought. It has been discussed
numerous times throughout the years about how to use orders and a commander s intent that gives
orders without directly saying so, or in other words, implied tasks. In combat arms military
occupational specialties, enlisted combat arms schools, particularly

Essay On Gold Rush
Gold Rush in the United States It is amazing how a small gold nugget drew a large mass of
miners into Cherokee Nation s grounds. Most people never associate Georgia and gold. Instead
they associate Georgia with slaves, plantations, and cotton fields. One of the unusual events in
the Gold Rush was the surprising find of gold in Georgia. A three ounce gold nugget was found.
People began to search for gold in the caves. Once more gold was found they began to dig for the
precious gold nuggets. First, gold was found in Georgia records indicate to have been in 1829.
John Witheroods found a three ounce nugget along Duke s Creek in Habersham County (present
day) White County . (David Williams) Others will dispute who actually found the first piece of
gold nugget. Some people say it was a gentlemen from North Carolina, found gold nugget in the
same location. There is no concrete evidence who was the first one to find gold. Once the news
reached the surrounding areas and states. The large number of miners was greater than initially
expected to have been. Many Gold Rush towns were quickly built in the north part of Georgia,
which was near the area where gold was found. The towns grew from a handful of families to...

Geopoliticus Child Watching the Birth of the New Man
Salavador Dali was a very talented artist from Spain. He was born in
1904 and died of heart failure in 1989. A lot of his work was influenced by his dreams and he
depicted them on canvas. Dali s work was also influenced by surrealism, a style of artwork that
expressed images through unconventional techniques and distortions. Although the work seems to
be a little out of the ordinary, I still find it very interesting and extra ordinary. His painting,

brightness of the bottom canvas sends signals of happiness and rest.
I feel this way because I was taught to morn at birth, this world is full of heartbreaks and let downs
and to rejoice at death, in death there is rest and the hope of eternal life. The thick blood oozing
out from the opening of the earth signifies the sweat and blood he has been sacrificing to become
an adult. As the ordeal is taking place, a person that seems to be both male and female is
watching. I say that the person is both genders because his or her features carries is both of male
and female. A small child is holding tightly to the legs of this person looking in the direction the
person is pointing. The child seems to be watching with curiosity and fear. The person may be
trying to teach the child the lesson of the event. I feel the lesson that is trying to be taught is, no

When I look at Salavador Dali s painting, Geopoliticus Child Watching the Birth of the New Man,
I really can relate to the struggles that is illistrated in the painting. I cannot for certian say that my

she decided to go to San Francisco, where her essay Slouching Towards Bethlehem takes place.
San Francisco is a place where there are full of hippies. In her essay, she illustrates the detailed
encounters with the hippies and portrays their personalities and lifestyles. Although Joan Didion
describes the hippies as immature, she also feels pity for their situation at the same time. Didion
expresses that the hippies are very immature and uses different examples to back it up. She goes

These girls are not at the age where they should be drinking or live on the celebrity and power and
sex a band projects (90). These girls are taking interest in the areas they should not even be
thinking about, but only the instant pleasure they would get. They should be focusing on getting
education to pursue their goals in their lives. It seems as if they do not care about what going to
happen to their future. An even greater example is when Didion walks into Otto s house, she sees
a 5 year old girl on acid. It is really tragic to see such a really young girl on acid, especially
because her mother has given her both acid and peyote (128). The mother should be encouraging
her child to live a drug free life, but instead she exposes it to her at an early age. Imagine how the
young girl s life would turn out as she gets older. She would end up hanging out with the wrong

do have the right to live their lives the way they want; however, they should not make choices that
will ruin their lives and lead them to failure. Instead they should try to work their way up to
success. The hippies should get their senses together and start living a proper life, such as getting

Theme Of Love In Attars Conference Of The Birds And...
Love is a central theme in both Attars Conference of the Birds and Dante s The Inferno. Whilst both
explore this theme in varying ways and take extremely contrasting routes, their final destination to
faith is achieved. The authors explore the divine through love and investigate the ways in which
passion and devotion are intertwined. In both texts, as the characters fall deeper into love, they fall
deeper into their faith. A spiritual journey led by passion is seen to be a constructive way to
attain one s closeness to God. Attars description of a spiritual journey towards God is at times
opposing to the path often associated with a religious experience, yet perfectly mimics his Suffi
background. In Suffism a belief widely held is that complete submission to love ends in the soul
becoming one with G d and this is shown by Sheikh Sam ans all consuming love for the Christian
woman, which is not a path away from God but a path towards him. Dante s the Infernois based off
a completely contrasting belief system and culture, yet love seems to be the only guidance on
his path through all and towards faith. Love is the very essence of the Conference of the birds,
from Sufism s core belief that love is the path towards God, to the story posed in the text of Sheik
Sam ans journey of love towards enlightenment. Love was the motivator for all of Sam ans actions
on his journey away from Islam and towards the way . Within the first introductory lines of the
poem, love is mentioned multiple times. It starts with Love thrives on inextinguishable pain and
finishes with a convulsion of each heart yet in Dante s The Inferno, this is not as blatant. The text
is surrounded by fury and anger, and many argue the existence of the text is a ploy to frighten and
embitter people into commitment towards Christianity. We move through every sphere of hell,
each entailing a more intense punishment, further embedding our faith to god out of the existence
of fear. The notion of a fear of hell to motivate faith seems to be a theme for the text and a way to
motivate the masses into believing in a Christian God. This seems to deter away from Attars
optimistic tone and the acceptance he offers to various faiths and paths towards finding

Security Threats Of Small Business Accounting
Security Threats to Small Business Accounting
Small business accounting becomes increasingly difficult for owner/operators to handle personally
or delegate to untrained employees. As your business grows, accounting becomes more complex,
and savvy business owners often consider hiring a professional accounting service instead of one or
more employees to do the work. There are many advantages to doing so that include generating tax
savings, ensuring that reports are filed correctly and on time and getting guaranteed service when
an accountant or bookkeeper becomes incapacitated.
However, the biggest advantage of hiring professionals is their ability to identify and prevent
common security threats. Hiring professional accountants and certified computer security
specialists helps to prevent many common digital threats. When even the smallest hack or breach is
discovered or suspected, take advantage of fraud alerts and business identity protections services.
Remain security conscious, and make security practices an essential condition of employment for
your staff. The following categories of threats are easily overlooked but easy to remedy with
forethought and safe practices.
1. In House Threats
Internal security risks include both deliberate and unintended breaches. Disgruntled workers can
generate dangerous threats, especially members of your IT team. Rogue employees can sell
confidential information or computer access to competitors, steal money through embezzlement and

Of course you have, I m sure you have been really excited the night before Christmas. That same feeling is what I have while planning and waiting for trips to happen. Some people can get a sort of high from anticipating a trip, just like the night before your 21st birthday. This is just one of three different phases you can go through during a trip: Anticipation, Experience Perceived Experience. A. Anticipation: This is the first phase, where you decide to travel, choose where to go, plan the details, and wait for the departure date. This phase can have an array of feelings attached to it: feelings of excitement for the day you leave, stress ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I am not saying that your incredible trip last month wasn t the best thing that you have ever done, just a realistic view at the emotional roaster that you ride during your trip. TO BE CONTINUED... • 3. Toddler Classroom Observation Toddlers and preschoolers are at different developmental stages, and therefore require their teachers to use different approaches and techniques to further learning. I completed my observations at the Bright and Early Children s Learning Center where I observed a toddler classroom and a preschool classroom. My observations took place from 8:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. on the 21st and 28th of September. The first day that I observed I was placed in the toddler classroom which had two teachers, Miss Ashlynn and Miss Miranda, and six students, most of whom were two years old. In the preschool classroom there was one teacher, Miss Stephanie, and eight students, each of whom were 3 years old or 4 years old. While the rooms were physically similar, the teachers used different strategies and activities to appeal to the different age groups. In the toddler classroom, the children interacted with each other, however many of them were more interested in playing and exploring on their own. The children enjoyed free playat learningcenters, story time, and outside play during my observation. The toddlers preferred parallel play in which the children used similar toys in similar ways, but did not interact with each other. For example, when one child began playing with the kitchen toys in the dramatic play center, soon all of the children began playing with the available plastic food items. However, the children were more interested in showing the teachers what they were doing and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. My Most Memorable Moment In My Life The definition of fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. One of my most memorable moments of my life was the first time I went to Disney Land I was terrified but because of this trip I found out how to face my fears. The loud sounds of flying planes over me reminded me one of the scariest things I ve seen on tv crashing in a plane. I didn t want to even go near the plane but I had to my parents paid thousands for me to go on this trip so I stepped forward on the flimsy bridge that connects the loud airport to the metal coffin plane. I knew I was a wimp but I had enough respect to do what my parents wanted me to do. Flight to Las Angeles now departing. Were those the last words I would hear besides me screaming to my death? The plane took off it wasn t bad at all maybe I wouldn t die but time will tell. After an hour on the plane I realized I was going to be ok. Two hours had passed and I really enjoyed this then over the loud speaker, Now landing in Las Angeles please tighten seat belts as we land. The pilot stated. The landing, the death of me? But when we touched the ground it wasn t bad felt a mild bump that was all more fun than scary. On the way off the plane I looked into the cockpit that might be me one day. That was the day I came over my fear of planes and actually made me want to be a pilot soaring over the skies seeing the tiny people this became my dream. We checked into our hotel and stayed their for the night thinking about the experince I had on the plane, and thinking about the rides I would go on tomorrow. Most kids would be excited and thrilled but my ten year old self a coward self was scared. The next day we went on a bus to the front gates of Disney Land. I entered very anxious for if I would puke or as my mind seemed set on dyeing. They said this place was magical I made up this stupid thing where if I would step on certain tiles on the road I would be fine. I stepped up to Splash Mountain still only stepping on the red tiles of the road. I climbed the walk way to the top of the mountain and stepped into the log flume ride. I thought I might drown in the foot of water fall off the ride and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Sick Around the World SW June 5, 2013 Sick Around The World Video Summary This movie went around the world to different countries to show the comparisons and differences in healthcare compared to each other and the U.S. The first country that was visited was the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom spends 8.3% of their GDP on healthcare. The citizens pay nothing for premiums, all of it is paid trough taxation. Some services require co pay, but all young people and all elderly are exempt from drug co pays. The United Kingdom calls their healthcare system socialized medicine ; the government provides for and pays for all healthcare. The taxes that Britons pay gets distributed up to different healthcare providers. Since the United Kingdoms system is taxed,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of this smart card, Taiwan has the lowest administrative costs in the world. Unfortunately Taiwan is not bringing in enough money to support its healthcare services. The fifth country that was visited was Switzerland. Switzerland spends 11.6% of its GDP on healthcare. Citizens pay $750 a month for premiums. If you are too poor to pay for your premiums, the government will pay. Citizens pay 10% of the cost of services for a co pay. Switzerland also used the social insurance model. 95% of the population already had voluntary insurance when they country switched systems. All citizens are required to have coverage. Switzerland shows that in a high capitalist nation with powerful insurance and pharmaceutical industries, universal coverage is possible. Insurance companies are not allowed to make a profit off of basic care and are not able to select only young and healthy applicants. The government sets the prices on drugs, but the insurers and providers negotiate on all other prices. Switzerland has the second most expensive system behind the U.S. The Swiss do not have gatekeepers, some insurance plans may require them or may give a discount for using them. I really would much rather have one of these systems compared to the one that we have now. Although I do have good insurance, I think some of these methods may be easier for most people. In the film, Whale Rider, through mythical creation powers, the hero endeavors to save her dying culture. The creation myths power permits the courageous woman, Pai, to find her actual calling as a real leader of the Maori tribe. By utilizing the myths, she dynamically finds her legend s adventure by breaking down the images throughout her life. According to Campbell as discussed in Indick article, this model The Monomyth has different functions as he clarifies the sociological, mysterious, cosmological, and mental elements of myth (pg, 2). Paikea turns out to be strongly fascinated on this legend because of the way that she is the latest of the bloodline descendant, which implies she is prepared to make every one of the basic decisions of being a chief other than the reality of being female. The youthful heroic girl refers to the legend when contrasting with herself as an approach to empower her rising as the current bloodline descendant. She keeps on participating in the myth all through the movie with a specific end goal to express her enthusiasm for her way of life (William, 3). Similarly, William in page three explains that Campbell clarifies cosmological capacities as stories enable the person to decide his/her place in the universe. The stellar capacity applies for the Whale Rider because of the principle character growing up being recounted of their legend of how the Maori tribe traveled to the territory they are acclimated to now. Pai characterizes herself alongside her family history; she expresses a long time ago, my ancestor Paikea came to this place on the back of a whale. Since then, in every generation of my family, the firstborn son has carried his name and become the leader of our tribe... until now, (Whale). • 8. The War Of A National Highway System The term New Frontier was used by liberal, Democratic presidential candidate John F. Kennedy in his acceptance speech. Kennedy entered office with the goal to get rid of Americas poverty, and to raise America s eyes to the stars through the space program. During the New Frontier, unemployment benefits were expanded, aid was provided to cities to improve housing and transportation, funds were allocated to continue the construction of a national highway system started under Eisenhower, a water pollution control act was passed to protect the country s rivers and streams, and an agricultural act to raise farmers incomes was made law. The bay of pigs invasion was a failed military invasion of Cuba. Brigade 2506, the group that attempted to invade cuba, was made up of Cubans who fled the country after Castro s takeover, was trained and funded by the CIA. The CIA Castro gone because he was a communist, and at the time everyone was afraid of communists. This attack lasted three days before Brigade 2506 was defeated. The Cuban missile crisis, also known as the October crisis, was a confrontation between the U.S and Soviet Union and was the closest the Cold War came to being an actual war. The students had previously discussed the story elements of a fairytale which correlates with the standard RL1.3. This standard states: Describe characters, settings, and major events in a story using key details. My teacher referred to key details as story elements for this lesson. The students had also read Cinderellatwo days previous to my activity. The book I worked with is called Cinderquaker by Mike Thaler. This is a spin off story to Cinderella where the characters are various birds. This activity served similarly to a post assessment because we re analyzed Cinderella and the differences... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An unexpected element of their literacy development was evident when a student pointed out that I forgot to put a period on the end of one of my sentence examples. This is a high focus in a classroom as well as capitalizing the first letter in a sentence. This was not the focus of my project but shows the students are successfully developing in this area because they are noticing it in other content areas. I fluently read the story stopping to make sure students pointed their story element. I would use inflection when I reached story element like Fairy Mom to emphasis the key words. This was important to the reading because not all the elements were exactly the same as most story, for example fairy godmother was called fairy mom and instead of once upon a time it reads Once there was a little duck . These slight changes in word choice made it difficult for the students to pick up on the elements. For the next time, I would consider explaining this to the students before hand so that they know the exact key words to be looking for. The main skill I focused on was vocabulary specifically story elements of fairytales. I printed out the student s the element they were to look with a picture so that they could see the words and how it is spelled while also relating it to the picture. • 10. Church In The Canterbury Tales Canterbury is an English cathedral city which was a popular pilgrimage site in the Medieval Era. However, in the Middle Ages, the members of the clergy did not always live up to their lofty expectations and standards. The Church s credibility, at this time, was diminishing due to the actions of its officials. Geoffrey Chaucer, author of The Canterbury Tales, took this pilgrimage and along the way met a few of these questionable clerical figures. During the General Prologue of the work, Chaucer provides a comical representation of all the characters he meets on his journey. His description of clerical members, such as the Monk, criticize their actions and interests. In addition to the Monk, he meets a nun with questionable morals and a deceitful, selfish friar. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The idea of the Nun relaxing on this principle exhibits the decline of the Church s credibility. In addition to her lax fashion choices, the Nun spoils herself in her diet. Similar to monks, nuns maintained a very strict lifestyle. Chaucer s Nun fails to abide with this minimalist culture when it comes to food. Chaucer describes her as by no means undergown which insinuates that she is not a dainty woman like her peers (GP 160). Nuns, like monks, also prohibited the donning of jewelry or other items personal items. Once again, the Nun fails to observe this ideal and proceeds to bear a glaring brooch on her clothing (GP 164). In addition to this, Chaucer observes, She wore a coral trinket on her arm which further defies the monastic code (162). Furthermore, the Nun is by no means an upstanding member of the medieval clerical community. Chaucer s portrayal of the Nun as a immoral and pompous figure further aids the argument of the Church s hypocrisy. Continuing the themes of hypocrisy and corruption, Chaucer s Friar contradicts his divine position with his deceitful actions towards society. He exploits his position in order to get ... Although Alexander the Great may have done amazing things, he was overall ruthless and evil. Alexander the Great should be remembered as a villain because he mistreated many people, conquered lands in war and showed rage and aggressiveness. Alexander the Great was a ruthless villain because he mistreated many people. He mistreated people by selling 30,000 of them as slaves, and and killing 6,000 people. I think this is uncalled for and in unnecessary. When you show that much anger and frustration for no reason, you will be remembered in a negative way. This proves my point on Alexander the Great ... The traditional vertical loom is made from branches of wood tied together with cordage. This portable loom was perfect for the nomadic lifestyle of the Navajos (Kaufman and Selser 10). Navajo weavers have always used the same basic structure for the loom. The size of the loom depends on what the weaver is creating, yet more recently looms have been made much smaller for beginners. In an interview with my brother Chris Brown, an intermediate weaver, he said, When I first started weaving, my teacher at DinГ© College had me work with a loom that was only a foot tall. (Brown). It is said that they Holy People taught the Navajos how to weave so that the Navajos could provide for themselves and stay warm (Brown). Throughout the centuries, Navajos have wove to provide for their families. Unlike other Southwest tribes, Navajos are not masters in the realms of pottery or basketry, instead Navajos are known for their woven rugs. While weavers from the early 20th century and contemporary weavers differ in some aspects, they both use the loom to depict Navajo designs. Navajo weaving has evolved in terms of technique, materials, artistic style, and spiritual meaning. Despite the changes, weaving has and will always be a key component in Navajo culture. • 16. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Many people in today s society tend to only listen to the beat of the song rather than the meaning, and vise versa. They either like the lyrics or like the beat and do not fully understand the meaning. For example, Foster the People s Pumped Up Kicks is a very catchy song with a good chorus but the meaning is misconstrued. The meaning and the musicality is not intertwined. It is a song about a a disturbed kid going on a killing spree. Unlike Foster the People, people adore Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, a nineteenth century poet, not because he had a good rhythm, but because he intertwines musicality and imagery. He merges sight and sound to establish a cinematic orchestra and paints a vivid image full of depth and personality. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow incorporates religion through the influence of nature and the strong presence of musicality in The Cross of Snow , My Lost Youth , Autumn and The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls . Many of Longfellow s influences on his works have sprouted from his early life experiences. Longfellow was born in Portland, Maine to Stephen Longfellowand Zilpah Longfellow. As a child Longfellow was known for his vivid imagination. Little did he know that his childhood experiences sparked many of ideas for his future works. What I found that worked best regarding IMC, was to basically put all additional budget into it. Almost every quarter I did this, my profits would continue to rise. When I did the simulation individually, every time I gained more money in my total budget that money would address IMC first. IMC was definitely the key to the game for me. The single most argued part of the simulation for our group was the distribution of money in Power To Size Ratio, Manufacturing, and Thermal Resistance. At first it seemed that no matter what we did as a group some customer would complain about something. No customer complained more than Customer B complaining about wanting more thermal. Our group found ourselves always arguing over how much money to put into which of the three categories. We never really did a great job doing so because there was always an unhappy customer. We are in a generation where good name is no more preferred or precious than gold, rather, money is a good name and more precious than a good one, where love for one self, vanity, and giving importance on earthly things counts as a way of having success by pursuing what is best for us and for our loved ones. The Me Generation only shows that people give so much gratitude and admiration to themselves, and that their concentration is self centered and egoistic. However, as seen in the 2008 recession many people were in negative equity because the outstanding debt is more than the house s retail value. Since there are more people in the UK, and they are living longer, the number of second hand properties being sold is less, causing the prices of ones on the market to increase. Dwellings have a high income elasticity of demand, so if the level of income increases demand for property will also increase. Also, when people s income increases they are more likely to buy properties than rent, also increasing average prices. There has been an overall increase in house prices because 20 years ago average income was ВЈ19,774, peaking to 24,683 in 2008, then decreasing to ВЈ22,524 in 2014 (source: rate inflation). Social trends can also affect house prices, recently a trend has emerged for later marriages, the mean age for marriage has increased by 8 years for men and women since 1972 (source: ONS). This has led to an increase in demand for smaller dwellings such as apartments, causing the prices of these forms of residence to rise. The Bank of England can change the base rate of interest; this will be passed on by banks to the general public, increasing the amount paid on variable rate mortgages. A higher rate will rule some people out from being able to afford the house they want, decreasing demand for houses and lowering the value of ones on the market. In the title, You Can t Write A Poem About McDonalds states that the writer can t and is challenging themselves. The challenge is answered by R.W writing this poem. There is quite a lot of sensory details in this poem. For example, in line 2, the word singing you can hear the grumbling and feel the rumbling in the readers belly. Also, in line 7, the reader can hear the screaming doom , as well as in line 10, the reader can see how people are really slow and lazy and basically carrying themselves and their weight. This makes the think that people who eat a lot at McDonald s and other fast food restaurants are addicted and they can t stop and their body reacts in a bad way, such as they get larger, are lazier, and many more. Next, in line 13, the reader can smell the saltiness of not only sweat but also their fries and burgers. When the reader thinks about this line, it makes the reader think: People are not exercising too much after eating a lot of McDonald s so there must be a lot of people and when there is too much people in a room things can get smelly. Though luckily, to his benefit, he was only ordered to write a 2000 word RBI and report for duty 30 minutes early. • 39. Art Nouveau Rhetorical Analysis The article that I chose to analyze was The Role of Women in the Iconography of Art Nouveau by Jan Thompson. The main argument in this essay is the depiction of women as objects in the Nouveau style and how they were highly idealized and depicted very differently than they appeared in real life. The intended audience for this essay is women. The author was able to successfully argue and prove their thesis through historical perspective, detailed analyses of the depiction of women as objects, and the use of relevant primary sources. Thompson gives a brief description of what was happening during the time of the Art Nouveau style and how it affected the depiction of women. During this time, suffrage was beginning to take hold in society and women were beginning to embrace their own individualism and began taking their lives into their own hands. The author argues that the depiction of women as highly idealized objects was a reaction to this movement and was an attempt by artists to resist the changes in society. The depiction of women as fragile, helpless objects was to reinforce the belief that women were inferior to men. Social rituals are, basically, traditions or customs that a society has followed for many years. For example, in America, most people follow the custom of dating. Even though all three of these approaches to finding a mate are different, they all are very similar because they are all Social Mating Rituals. Now, of course, mating isn t the only social ritual. Many artists knew this to be true and took advantage of it. Music rapidly began to influence every aspect of American lives. It was heard in their homes, cars, offices, theaters, movies, elevators and countless other places. Music made it s way everywhere. The songs that were sung defined what every American loved and worked for. It gave people hope and joy, as well as bringing out every other emotion possible. Music was around during the bad times as well as the good. When people were down there were songs they could relate to, and when they were happy there were songs they could sing and dance to (Ennis, 1992). In the 1920 s the first pop music began with the big bands. They were a popular choice for many listeners, but new forms of it were already starting to branch. Swing and Jazz soon became very popular styles of music. They mainly consisted of several trumpets, saxophones, and even stringed instruments. A deeper bass, piano and percussion then supported them. Jazz got it s influence from African American folk music, such as ragtime, fife and drum bands, string bands and spirituals. Because of the newness of Jazz music, it exploded though out the United States quickly. Jazz had a huge impact on the people of the early 1900 s. It lessened racism to some degree, and started opening people s minds to other forms of dancing, which was considered an indecent act among many societies. Mirko Bagaric and Penny Dimopoulos argue that the introduction of mandatory pro bono will only encourage the government to continue to decrease it s funding of legal aid services as the government will further shirk the responsibility onto the legal profession. For example, the current Australian budget has proposed yet another large decrease in government funding for 2017 2018, this includes the quarantining of some of the community legal centre funding. Furthermore, it is not fair of the government to place an expectation on the legal to perform legal services for free when there is no similar altruistic expectation placed on professional from other areas, such as: physiotherapists, chiropractors, doctors and psychologists. All the services provided by these other professions for free or at a discount are usually done so because the costs are then subsidized by the government. Mission Command As A Military Leader Mission Command is a military leader s guide to being an effective and reasonable leader maintaining both command and control of garrison and wartime environments. Mission Command is guided by six principles beginning with build cohesive teams through mutual trust, create shared understanding, provide a clear commander s intent, exercise disciplined initiative, use mission orders, and accept prudent risk ( 3. Army Staff. Mission Command. Fort Benning, Maneuver Center of Excellence). These six principles are what Mission Command is built around and they allow leaders to reach their full potential, if adhered to properly. The problem is that leaders believe they are following these principles, when in reality their subordinates may not see it the same way. The principles that show the biggest issues would be shared understanding, and a clear commander s intent. Creating a shared understanding and providing a clear commander s intent really go together, because without one you cannot have the other. The problem with these principles is that what is clear to one subordinate or individual is not clear to another, not everyone has the same reading comprehension skills or the same train of thought. • 52. Theme Of Love In Attars Conference Of The Birds And... Love is a central theme in both Attars Conference of the Birds and Dante s The Inferno. Whilst both explore this theme in varying ways and take extremely contrasting routes, their final destination to faith is achieved. The authors explore the divine through love and investigate the ways in which passion and devotion are intertwined. In both texts, as the characters fall deeper into love, they fall deeper into their faith. A spiritual journey led by passion is seen to be a constructive way to attain one s closeness to God. Attars description of a spiritual journey towards God is at times opposing to the path often associated with a religious experience, yet perfectly mimics his Suffi background. In Suffism a belief widely held is that complete submission to love ends in the soul becoming one with G d and this is shown by Sheikh Sam ans all consuming love for the Christian woman, which is not a path away from God but a path towards him. Dante s the Infernois based off a completely contrasting belief system and culture, yet love seems to be the only guidance on his path through all and towards faith. Love is the very essence of the Conference of the birds, from Sufism s core belief that love is the path towards God, to the story posed in the text of Sheik Sam ans journey of love towards enlightenment. Love was the motivator for all of Sam ans actions on his journey away from Islam and towards the way . Within the first introductory lines of the poem, love is mentioned multiple times. It starts with Love thrives on inextinguishable pain and finishes with a convulsion of each heart yet in Dante s The Inferno, this is not as blatant. The text is surrounded by fury and anger, and many argue the existence of the text is a ploy to frighten and embitter people into commitment towards Christianity. We move through every sphere of hell, each entailing a more intense punishment, further embedding our faith to god out of the existence of fear. The notion of a fear of hell to motivate faith seems to be a theme for the text and a way to motivate the masses into believing in a Christian God. This seems to deter away from Attars optimistic tone and the acceptance he offers to various faiths and paths towards finding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
