Amway was founded in 1959 by Jay van Andel and Richard DeVos in Ada, Michigan, originally starting as the nutrilite distribution section of Ja-Ri corporation. It began with just one product but grew as it offered commissions to new distributors introduced by existing distributors, building a network of distributors. Over time Amway has expanded its product lines beyond just nutrilite and become a global company with a turnover of Rs. 30,000 crore, operating in India through direct sales and providing opportunities through its foundations.
