- Much of the growth for MySQL come from on-line applications Shows top 20 sites, rated by Alexa – all but 4 (mainly M$) properties run on MySQL This is very relevant to database momntum as most new on-line app development in start-ups and enterprises and carriers done on MySQL – not Oracle, not on M$. So would expect MySQL to continue to grow and become more critical to orgs – Also key for telcos is that MySQL has proven products and expertise in web apps – exactly where telco are moving in order to monetise their network assets above voice and broadband access delivered over a dumb pipe
