Project Description The proposed generic IWF framework provides an inter-working
solution from any communication protocol to SIP and vice-a-versa.
It adapts to vast range of communication protocols, ranging from
packet switching to circuit switching based, and from wired or wireless
region, and enables inter-working with SIP. The solution provides an
easy plug-in of any communication protocol to the G-IWF with a
protocol dependent “adapter module” that talks with a protocol
independent IWF layer which in turn interfaces with SIP stack. Hence,
one region of the protocol independent layer communicates with the
SIP stack and other region with the protocol dependent adapter. The
protocol adapter converts all the protocol independent IWF messages
to the specific communication protocol and vice-a-versa. One or more
protocol-dependent-adapters can be plugged-in at the same time to
handle multiple protocols interworking with SIP.
