I am excited to take this opportunity to offer a recommendation on behalf of Kylie Hickey as a possible
candidate for the open position of speech-language specialist in your district. Kylie is a second-year
graduate student in the Master of Science in Communication Disorders (MSCD) program here at Stockton
University and has demonstrated a host of redeeming qualities that would make her an optimal candidate
for this position.
First and foremost, Kylie is a woman of outstanding character and professionalism. She exhibits a positive
sense of self and a commitment to excelling in professional performance. As an undergraduate student
clinician here at Stockton, Kylie was under my supervision as she completed her on-campus clinical
experience. Even then, Kylie stood out as being cognizant of her service delivery with regards to shaping
her clinical skills, developing rapport with clients and families, and putting her best efforts in play. As a
graduate student, Kylie’s clinical experiences have included a required on-campus clinical practicum, an
elective second on-campus practicum, and a school placement within the Egg Harbor City Public School
District, and the level of professionalism, thoughtfulness, and insight she demonstrated as an
undergraduate student clinician continued well into her graduate career. As a clinician under my
supervision, Kylie developed well thought-out treatment plans complete with measurable objectives,
creative and engaging activities, and independently made data-driven decisions regarding the content and
direction of each session using best practice methods. She was proactive in researching evidence-based
practices that would offer the most effective treatment methods for targeting her clients’ challenges, and
she used that information to drive her therapy sessions. It is my hope that future clinicians will have the
same passion and drive as Kylie in making a difference in the lives of their clients.
Please accept my highest recommendation of Ms. Hickey as a candidate for the open position of speech-
language specialist. She is a professional in every sense of the word and would be an asset to your district.
