❖ Description Of Aloevera
➢ Common Name = Aloevera
➢ Scientific Name = Aloe barbadensis
➢ Family = Lilliaceae
➢ Chromosome Number = 2n = 14
➢ Origin = Sudan North Africa
❖ Introduction
I. It is also known as “ Wonder Plant “ .
II. It is useful medicinal crop .
III. It also known as “ Ghritkumari ,
Gvarpatha “.
IV. Normal height of this plant is 30 to 60
cm .
V. It used to make “ aloe gel “.
VI. It is also used in treatment of “ cough “.
❖ Soil and Climate
➢ Well drained laterite to loamy soil is
suitable for aloe cultivation .
➢ pH 7.0 to 8.5 .
➢ Commercially cultivation of aloe can be
done in 25 to 30 degree temperature .
❖ Varieties
➢ There are three mainly cultivated type of aloe.
• Guruguva aloe
• Cap aloe
• Sagotrine aloe
• Zenziber aloe
• Uganda
• Notal and
• Hyderabad
❖ Seed and Sowing
✓ It is propagated through suckers .
✓ The suckers are dipped in 0.1 % of carbendazim
for five minute.
✓ 10000 suckers are required for plantation in the
field.
❖ Plantation Season
.
I. The planting can be done during two seasons .
II. Namely June July and September – October
❖Planting
I. Field in thoroughly ploughed and bed of suitable
size are formed .
II. Suckers are planting at 90 -90 cm spacing .
❖Irrigation
a. It is grown as rainfed crop.
b. During summer months irrigations are
required .
c. In summer season 15 days interval is required
for irrigation .
d. In winter season 30 days interval is required
for irrigation .
❖Manure and fertilizer
a) 10 t ha of FYM is required for aloe cultivation .
b) For the fertile soil manuring is not required .
c) For low fertile soil 50:50:25 kg NPK is sufficient
for one hectare.
❖Plant Protection
I. No pest and disease infestation are
noticed in aloe .
II. However under water logged condition
,rotting will be occur which will be
overcome by good drainage practice .
➢ Harvesting and yield
I. Harvesting can be done 6 to 7 month after
planting plants are uprooted and processed
get extraction within 6 hours of harvest .
II. An average leaf yield is 15 t/ ha can be
obtained .
