opinions on the English language and its variations in this country or others. I am a writer. And
by that definition, I am someone who has always loved language. I am fascinated by
language in daily life. I spend a great deal of my time thinking about the power of language—the
way it can evoke an emotion, a visual image, a complex idea, or a simple truth. Language is the
tool of my trade. And I use them all—all the Englishes I grew up with.
Recently, I was made keenly aware of the different Englishes I do use. I was giving a talk
to a large group of people, the same talk I had already given to half a dozen other groups. The
nature of the talk was about my writing, my life, and my book, The Joy Luck Club. The talk was
going along well enough, until I remembered one major difference that made the whole talk
sound wrong. My mother was in the room. And it was perhaps the first time she had heard me
give a lengthy speech, using the kind of English I have never used with her. I was saying things
like, “The intersection of memory upon imagination” and “There is an aspect of my fiction that
relates to thus-and-thus”—a speech filled with carefully wrought grammatical phrases, burdened,
it suddenly seemed to me, with nominalized forms, past perfect tenses, conditional phrases, all
the forms of standard English that I had learned in school and through books, the forms of
English I did not use at home with my mother.
Just last week, I was walking down the street with my mother, and I again found myself
conscious of the English I was using, the English I do use with her. We were talking about the
price of new and used furniture and I heard myself saying this: “Not waste money that way.” My
husband was with us as well, and he didn't notice any switch in my English. And then I realized
why. It’s because over the twenty years we’ve been together, I’ve often used that same kind of
English with him, and sometimes he even uses it with me. It has become our language of
intimacy, a different sort of English that relates to family talk, the language I grew up with.

something. The conventional wisdom tells us that getting that something
means that the conflict is dissolved. Did you get what you asked for?
If so, then you are happy. If you did not get what you wanted, then
you are not happy. In the first scenario, your expectation is that, when
you finally decide on a solution, the employee will be satisfied. In the
second scenario, you do not expect the employee to leave your office
satisfied unless you take some action that is acceptable to her. But the
reality is often more complex than that. Just as important—sometimes
more important—are the other two sides of the satisfaction triangle,
shown in Figure 3-1: process satisfaction and emotional satisfaction.
Understanding all three sides of the satisfaction triangle can provide
managers with a more extensive set of tools for resolving conflicts.

In 1955, when Robert Guthrie, PhD, enrolled in a master's program at the University of Kentucky, he was a singular dark face against a backdrop of white.
"I remember one of my white professors eyeing me as if I were an anthropological specimen and remarking, 'You are from one of our Negro schools,'" Guthrie recalls.
His fellow white students didn't offer much support, either, he says, though he once attended a football game after a white student begged him. But when the band played "My Ol' Kentucky Home," a song that at the time included favorable portrayals of slavery, Guthrie knew he had to "get my education, then get the hell off campus."
Despite the discomfort and frustration he felt, however, Guthrie always knew he had a right to be there. That sense of confidence is what propelled him to pursue a degree in psychology when few blacks could, to go on to teach at the University of Pittsburgh, to study multicultural issues as a senior research psychologist in Washington, D.C., and to pen the now-classic tome, "Even the Rat Was White: A Historical View of Psychology."
Last spring, the National Archives of American Psychology honored Guthrie as the first African-American psychologist to deposit his papers there. Asking Guthrie to contribute was a natural choice for the archives because he has worn almost every one of psychology's hats, from research to teaching to government service, says director David Baker, PhD.
"We know almost nothing about the development of psychology at historically black colleges and universities, and only Bob Guthrie's work examines this in detail," Baker explains. "African Americans have much to be proud about their struggle against adversity, like the fact that in my lifetime they were not allowed to attend many grad schools simply because of their race. Most gunshot victims do not die. In some estimates, 80
percent live to see another day. Yet social scientists
continue to focus on gun homicide. What happens to
individuals who get shot and survive? How do they
experience life after the shooting? This article examines
how gunshot injuries transform the lives of victims. In
practical ways, gunshot injuries complicate sleeping,
eating, working, and other previously taken-for-granted
activities. These disruptions also have much larger exis
tential significance to victims. Indeed, daily experiences
with a wounded body become subjective reminders that
individuals are no longer who they used to be. Ironically,
in some interactions, being wounded becomes attrac
tive and advantageous to victims. Together, these
themes illustrate the need for more sustained ethno
graphic work on the foreground of violent crime vic
timization.

The technology also increased the accuracy in production due to the machinery that was more accurate than the human labour and the company was able to cut down the waste again. The company reduced its expenditure in terms of the losses incurred due to poor production.
It is important to consider the environment while thinking about the strategy change. The supply and demand within the business affect organizational ability. The demand and the supply stimulate each other impacting the prices of the goods and services in the budget. The customer's interest in specific products exhausts the supply available and increases demand. The demand and supply of goods and services have a high influence in determining the prices of goods and services. The prices of the product are likely to fall if the supply keeps on growing and if the supply keeps on decreasing the prices are likely to keep on growing (Becker, 2017). However, with the market economy, the interest consumers, as well as the companies, produce limits product that matches the demand and the supply and it is used in determining the product development and production.

For example, allowing early release to prisoners. In order to release inmates from prison early into the community it should be based on their sentence. If a prison is in for a minor crime that was not life threatening, I would agree. Minor cases could also be handled out of the criminal justice system. If an individual continues to do the same crime, they should not be given early release. Every case should be treated differently. Special alternatives can be made for vulnerable or at-risk groups such as children, mothers with dependent children and individuals with mental health issues. There should also be rehabilitation programs given to those released early from prison. Overcrowding is a major issue, this is why early released is crucial, but we also must think of the safety of our community so precautions must be made and well thought out. Prisons are not a very sanitary place and prisoners run the risk of possibly contracting hepatitis, HIV and sexually transmitted diseases. This is another reason to allow early release for crimes which are not life threatening.

The French revolution is a period in Europe when the basic ideas of society were
transformed through the adoption of liberal views. Historians view Napoleon Bonaparte as an
essential component in the transformation that occurred in most of the European societies.
However, Napoleon's contributions towards revolutionizing France and other European nations
are weighed against some of his actions that appeared to resist the revolution. Napoleon's
predecessors were mainly supporters of the aristocratic society. On the contrary, he opposed this
order and introduced the system of meritocracy. Napoleon would not have risen to become the
emperor of France without the French revolution, which he strongly supported during his initial
years, but later modified the revolution to suit his idea of a cohesive society.
In Allan Forrest's historical collection, Napoleon was born from a modest and noble
family in Corsica, where his ideologies of liberty and independence were shaped. Although he
was serving France as a military officer, his letters to Paoli, one of the exiled leaders of Corsica,
shows his belief in freedom from the aristocratic rule. During this period, Napoleon condemned
the French rule and rebuked its corrupt and malicious governance of Corsica. He believed that
aristocrats did not deserve to rule his hometown since there were people capable of providing
better leadership.
Nonetheless, his belief in opposing the French rule did not hinder him from displaying
unshakable loyalty to the king. In one of the occasions where he was required to display
pragmatism in Corsica’s desire to join the revolution, he chose to protect the ruling class. In

African Americans are 10.4%, American Indian, Alaska Native is about 3.7%, and the Asian are the least with a percentage of about 0.2%.
Sample Selection
The neighborhood I would like to focus on is the Industrial Heights since it has many health hazards. The neighborhood will be studied in a broader perspective that incorporates the geriatrics whereby the number of the elderly in this region is significant, and the nature of the Industrial heights can pose health risks to this population group in the Sentinel City. After touring the city, it is clear that safety risks are stray animals, disserted buildings, and pollution, amongst other health hazards. From the analysis, the Industrial Heights appears to have the most risks compare to the rest. For instance, there were poorly disposed cans lying around and spilled out garbage in the neighborhood with smoke like pollutants. Downtown in the crossroads, there was a stray dog, and there were graffiti drawings on some of the walls. Besides, there are cases of reckless driving indicated by a motorcycle that signaled red lights as it drove off.
Therefore, considering such health hazards, it might be challenging an older person to navigate through the neighborhood, considering that older adults may have different health complications. For instance, in case a person an older adult has difficulty breathing, and by bad luck pass by the smoking cans littered in the streets, they would have escalated the respiratory system (Houser, 2018). This means that they may develop health problems related to the respiratory system, or they can worsen the alrea.

In 1955, when Robert Guthrie, PhD, enrolled in a master's program at the University of Kentucky, he was a singular dark face against a backdrop of white.
"I remember one of my white professors eyeing me as if I were an anthropological specimen and remarking, 'You are from one of our Negro schools,'" Guthrie recalls.
His fellow white students didn't offer much support, either, he says, though he once attended a football game after a white student begged him. But when the band played "My Ol' Kentucky Home," a song that at the time included favorable portrayals of slavery, Guthrie knew he had to "get my education, then get the hell off campus."
Despite the discomfort and frustration he felt, however, Guthrie always knew he had a right to be there. That sense of confidence is what propelled him to pursue a degree in psychology when few blacks could, to go on to teach at the University of Pittsburgh, to study multicultural issues as a senior research psychologist in Washington, D.C., and to pen the now-classic tome, "Even the Rat Was White: A Historical View of Psychology."
Last spring, the National Archives of American Psychology honored Guthrie as the first African-American psychologist to deposit his papers there. Asking Guthrie to contribute was a natural choice for the archives because he has worn almost every one of psychology's hats, from research to teaching to government service, says director David Baker, PhD.
"We know almost nothing about the development of psychology at historically black colleges and universities, and only Bob Guthrie's work examines this in detail," Baker explains. "African Americans have much to be proud about their struggle against adversity, like the fact that in my lifetime they were not allowed to attend many grad schools simply because of their race. There are stories of inspiration, courage and strength, and also of anger, frustration and hurt."

Most gunshot victims do not die. In some estimates, 80
percent live to see another day. Yet social scientists
continue to focus on gun homicide. What happens to
individuals who get shot and survive? How do they
experience life after the shooting? This article examines
how gunshot injuries transform the lives of victims. In
practical ways, gunshot injuries complicate sleeping,
eating, working, and other previously taken-for-granted
activities. These disruptions also have much larger exis
tential significance to victims. Indeed, daily experiences
with a wounded body become subjective reminders that
individuals are no longer who they used to be. Ironically,
in some interactions, being wounded becomes attrac
tive and advantageous to victims. Together, these
themes illustrate the need for more sustained ethno
graphic work on the foreground of violent crime vic
timization.

The company can cut down the waste as well as keep up with the demands due to technological advancement. The technology also increased the accuracy in production due to the machinery that was more accurate than the human labour and the company was able to cut down the waste again. The company reduced its expenditure in terms of the losses incurred due to poor production.
It is important to consider the environment while thinking about the strategy change. The supply and demand within the business affect organizational ability. The demand and the supply stimulate each other impacting the prices of the goods and services in the budget. The customer's interest in specific products exhausts the supply available and increases demand. The demand and supply of goods and services have a high influence in determining the prices of goods and services. The prices of the product are likely to fall if the supply keeps on growing and if the supply keeps on decreasing the prices are likely to keep on growing (Becker, 2017). However, with the market economy, the interest consumers, as well as the companies, produce limits product that matches the demand and the supply and it is used in determining the product development and production.

Special alternatives can be made for vulnerable or at-risk groups such as children, mothers with dependent children and individuals with mental health issues. There should also be rehabilitation programs given to those released early from prison. Overcrowding is a major issue, this is why early released is crucial, but we also must think of the safety of our community so precautions must be made and well thought out. Prisons are not a very sanitary place and prisoners run the risk of possibly contracting hepatitis, HIV and sexually transmitted diseases. This is another reason to allow early release for crimes which are not life threatening.

The French revolution is a period in Europe when the basic ideas of society were
transformed through the adoption of liberal views. Historians view Napoleon Bonaparte as an
essential component in the transformation that occurred in most of the European societies.
However, Napoleon's contributions towards revolutionizing France and other European nations
are weighed against some of his actions that appeared to resist the revolution. Napoleon's
predecessors were mainly supporters of the aristocratic society. On the contrary, he opposed this
order and introduced the system of meritocracy. Napoleon would not have risen to become the
emperor of France without the French revolution, which he strongly supported during his initial
years, but later modified the revolution to suit his idea of a cohesive society.
In Allan Forrest's historical collection, Napoleon was born from a modest and noble
family in Corsica, where his ideologies of liberty and independence were shaped. Although he
was serving France as a military officer, his letters to Paoli, one of the exiled leaders of Corsica,
shows his belief in freedom from the aristocratic rule. During this period, Napoleon condemned
the French rule and rebuked its corrupt and malicious governance of Corsica. He believed that
aristocrats did not deserve to rule his hometown since there were people capable of providing
better leadership.
Nonetheless, his belief in opposing the French rule did not hinder him from displaying
unshakable loyalty to the king. In one of the occasions where he was required to display
pragmatism in Corsica’s desire to join the revolution, he chose to protect the ruling class. In

Purpose of the System Design Document

Provide the purpose of the
System Design
Document. This document
should be tailored to fit a particular project’s needs.
The System Design document documents and tracks the necessary information required to effectively define architecture and system design in order to give the development team guidance on architecture of the system to be developed. Design documents are incrementally and iteratively produced during the system development life cycle, based on the particular circumstances of the IT project and the system development methodology used for developing the system. Its intended audience is the project manager, project team, and development team. Some portions of this document such as the user interface (UI) may on occasion be shared with the client/user, and other stakeholder whose input/approval into the UI is needed.

The population of Sentinel City is approximately 634 000 and above, with the percentage of people living below the poverty level as 18.9%. At Sentinel City, there are four different major neighborhoods, which include the Casper Park District, Industrial Heights, Nightingale Square, and Acer Tech Centre. By focusing on the individual neighborhood and first the Industrial Heights, the average household earnings are about $24672 with 37.5% of the persons not insured under 65 years (Houser, 2018). The Casper Park District has an average income of about $80 134; Acer Tech Centre has an average salary of about $166300 ad Nightingale Square has average earnings per household of approximately $269550. Concerning the population distribution, the leading neighborhood is Casper Park, with a population of 352 643 followed by Acer Tech with a population of 168390, Nightingale Square with 103, 974, and Industrial Heights with the least population of 38855. The distribution of the overall population in Sentinel City is in this order, 7.4 % for those below five years, 21.7% for those below 18 years, and 10.5% for persons of 65 years and above. The racial percentage in this city is highly characterized by the whites who make about 80% of the total population. African Americans are 10.4%, American Indian, Alaska Native is about 3.7%, and the Asian are the least with a percentage of about 0.2%.
Sample Selection
The neighborhood I would like to focus on is the Industrial Heights since it has many health hazards. The neighborhood will be studied in a broader perspective that incorporates the geriatrics whereby the number of the elderly in this region is significant, and the nature of the Industrial heights can pose health risks to this population group in the Sentinel City. After touring the city, it is clear that safety risks are stray animals, disserted buildings, and pollution, amongst other health hazards. From the analysis, the Industrial Heights appears to have the most risks compare to the rest. For instance, there were poorly disposed cans lying around and spilled out garbage in the neighborhood with smoke like pollutants. Downtown in the crossroads, there was a stray dog, and there were graffiti drawings on some of the walls. Besides, there are cases of reckless driving indicated by a motorcycle that signaled red lights as it drove off.
Therefore, considering such health hazards, it might be challenging an older person to navigate through the neighborhood, considering that older adults may have different health complications. For instance, in case a person an older adult has difficulty breathing, and by bad luck pass by the smoking cans littered in the streets, they would have escalated the respiratory system (Houser, 2018). This means that they may develop health problems related to the respiratory system, or they can worsen the alrea.
