3. Death is, without a doubt, the most painful
reality, most mysterious and at the same time,
most unavoidable of the human condition.
4. However, the Christian faith, replaces this fatalistic
and pessimistic statement with light and meaning
5. God, by becoming incarnate in Jesus Christ, has not
only assumed death as a necessary stage of human
existence, but has transcended it, has conquered it.
6. the Church wants to imply that “death is a reality that can and must be
assumed, since it constitutes a stage in the following of the risen Christ
7. It has given the
answer to our
temporal and
transient condition
that the whole of
humanity, for many
centuries, has been
waiting for.
Death is no longer
the end of the road.
8. We do not live just in order to die, but death is rather the key to
eternal life, which is the deepest and definitive aspiration of all men.
9. "Dying is only dying. Dying is over./
Dying is a fugitive bonfire.
Is to cross a door adrift /
and find what you were looking for so much./
Stop crying and ask questions,/
see Love without enigmas or mirrors; /
rest from living in tenderness; /
have peace, light, the house together /
and find, leaving the pains far away, /
the Night-light after so much dark night ".
José Luis Martín Descalzo
"Morir sólo es morir.
Morir se acaba./
Morir es una hoguera fugitiva./
Es cruzar una puerta a la deriva/
y encontrar lo que tanto se buscaba./
Acabar de llorar y hacer preguntas,/
ver al Amor sin enigmas ni espejos;/
descansar de vivir en la ternura;/
tener la paz , la luz, la casa juntas/
y hallar, dejando los dolores lejos,/
la Noche-luz tras tanta noche oscura".
José Luis Martín Descalzo
10. Communion with
the deceased.
"The pilgrim
Church, perfectly
aware of this
communion of the
whole mystical
Body of Jesus
Christ, from the
earliest times of
Christianity
honored with
great piety the
memory of the
deceased and also
offered prayers
for them;
CIC 958.
11.
12. the church
prays daily
for all the deceased.
In the Holy Mass
there is the memorial
of the dead, and
it actualizes the
passion, death and
resurrection of Christ
on the altar,
presenting it to all
the deceased who
have died in the
hope of eternal life.
13. Remember with affection
the deceased, they will thank you.
One day you will be with them.
Let it be said that they may
offer masses and prayers
for you when you die.
14. "for it is a holy and
profitable thing to pray
for the departed that
they may be freed
from their sins""
(2 Maccabees 12:45)
15. Our prayer for them can not only help them, but also
make their intercession on our behalf effective.
16. "All the children of God and members of the same family
in Christ, by uniting ourselves in mutual love and in the
same praise of the Blessed Trinity, we are responding
to the intimate vocation of the Church." CCC 959.
17. Some relatives usually
put a candle in the
window of their house
for each deceased
person in the family.
souls that are not perfectly cleansed of
venial sins at the time of leaving the body
19. or have not made full reparation for past sins,
are deprived of the beatific vision.
20. believers on earth can help
them with prayers, almsgiving
and above all through the
Sacrifice of the Mass.
