What makes it a teen drama rather than an ordinary drama is that the main
characters are young and the problems that occur are most common with
teens. Such as stress, bullying and suicide.

Last year, in the U.S., a teenager convinced her boyfriend to kill himself after
sending thousands of text messages. Eventually he did and the girlfriend was
arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter.
This news story is very recent and is our stimulus for our opening.

We have also looked at famous movie and tv interrogation scenes to see
what differs between them and what conventions are the same.
To fit with our atmosphere, we will take inspiration from dark and miserable
interrogation scenes and use similar conventions for our opening.

8. Target Audience
Our film is targeted to teenagers amongst the 15 to 19 age group. This is
because as a teen drama, we think that people of this age would be able to
understand and relate to this issues raised in the film.

9. Sound, Camerawork and Editing
Some of the sound that will appear in our opening will include things such as the
ticking of the clock, rustling of paper, heartbeat, heavy breathing, clinks of
the handcuffs .
We are hoping to use a range of angles and movements and shots in our opening.
We will definitely included extreme close ups and a high angle to show mystery
and vulnerability.
When filming and editing we will use match on action and
continuity editing, and also use the 180 degree rule.

Setting: dark and dejected interrogation room
Characters: interrogator and Michelle
Lighting: dark and low key lighting to reflect a disturbed mood and atmosphere
Decor and Props: desk, chairs, lights, clock, voice recorder, handcuffs,
folders containing case evidence

Costume/Hair and Makeup: person getting interrogated will either be in prison clothes or
just plain normal clothes and the interrogator will be in a formal outfit
Framing and Composition: the face of the person getting interrogated will never be shown
until the end so her composition will be different to that of the interrogator, there will be close ups of the
clock, the evidence, eyes and hands to enhance the mysterious atmosphere

12. Atmosphere
Throughout our opening scene, the atmosphere will feel tense and intriguing
for the viewer. This will be achieved by hiding the ‘friends’ face throughout
the interrogation and only revealing their true identity at the very end. By
doing this, the viewer will feel eager and on edge to find out who this person
is, which will therefore create a tense and intriguing feel to the opening
sequence.
