interior decorators suggest ethnic furniture designs to the homes, which add a touch of elegance to
individual personal space. Advantages of opting the suitable ethnic furniture: Natural feel The
ethnic furniture brings the natural feel back to our homes as they offer variety of imprints that
resonate with nature like water hyacinth, aquatic life, green woods, and exclusive natural
customised sets of furniture. Wide range of textures As ethnic furniture is not limited to a
particular texture or shade, experiments can be made which explores all shades of innovations.
The biggest advantage with ethnic decoration is that it provides wide range of texture for
experimentation. Eco friendly The weaving materials used in ethnic furniture are obtained from

A Family Vacation
A Family Vacation
Robbie always dreaded family vacations not because he didn t like spending time with his
family but rather the chaos of it all. His older sister Tina barely talks to him because she is too
focused on her new boyfriend Brad. His parents Dave and Betty spend most of their time worrying
about their jobs. One morning at 8am, Robbie s mom walks in his room completely ignoring that
fact that Robbie didn t go to bed until 5am, turns on the lights excitedly saying
Guess what Robbie tickets are booked, we are going to Disneyland for our family vacation this year
. Mom ! Robbie angrily yelled as he was awoken abruptly with no time to process what his mom
had just said.
Robbie, we are going to Disneyland ! Didn t you hear me ? At this point in time Robbie jumps
out a bed only to trip over his pile of dirty clothes he forgot to wash yesterday. Disneyland?! That s
sounds fun but as a family vacation heck no! , I rather go with some friends .
Well sweetie that was very rude of you to say, I know your sister is probably very thrilled to be
going on this family vacation.
Oh, yeah I bet so whenever she s not hanging out with that loser boyfriend of hers .
Excuse me Betty said offended that Robbie would ever describe her sister s boyfriend in that kind
of manner.
You know it s true Mom she could do so much better Robbie says as he frantically looks for his
favorite plaid maroon t shirt.
Well some things you should just keep to yourself Betty yells as she exits Robbie s room to go tell
her announcement to Tina.
Ohhh Tina!
Mom, I already heard, we are going to Disneyland Tina says as she finishes putting on her
sunscreen to go to the beach.
From this point on Robbie could only make a list of things that would go wrong on this family
vacation. Last vacation Tina got the stomach flu, Mom and Dad spent most of the vacation arguing
and we ended the trip early .
Before that, I got food poisoning, Tina was just in a bad mood and my parents decided to cancel the
trip a week before.
As Robbie made his way downstairs to make himself breakfast, Betty stopped in front of him, her
smile as bright as the sun.
Robbie I ll let you and your sister bring one person on our family vacation but you

The Minerals and Chemicals within Glass
Majority of glass used in our daily glass from jars, bottles, drinking glass and even windows are
called soda lime glass since it uses soda ashes in its production. Glass in general is mainly made
out of sand. In fact, sand alone can be fused to produce glass but it requires a high temperature
which is estimated about 1700В°C for the sand to completely melt. However, to mass produce glass
, other chemical and mineral are added to lower the melting temperature to ease the production.
Sodium Carbonate (Na2CO3) also known as soda ash is mixed with sand to produce a product of
75% silica (SiO2) and 25% sodium oxide (Na2O). This mixture will melt and fuse at a much
lower temperature of 800В°C. Unfortunately, the glass produced with this composition is water
soluble which is also known as water glass. This is not suitable for glass bottle since it need to
contain water so, to stabilise the glass, other chemical substance is mixed into the composition
such as calcium oxide (CaO) and magnesium oxide (MgO). The chemical mixtures are obtained by
the addition of lime stone which produce a pure and inert glass.
The glass produced is originally colourless and transparent. Addition of different chemicals into
the production of the glass results in different colour like green blue or brown. Most of glass bottle
produced have similar composition of chemicals as their ingredients. The composition of chemicals
are 70% 74% SiO2 (silica) 12% 16% Na2O (sodium oxide) 5% 11% CaO (calcium oxide)

A Rhetorical Analysis Of V-J-Day Kiss
For more than half a century, millions of eyes, young and old, have viewed this inspiring photo.
After the end of World War II in 1945, two random strangers were photographed snogging it out
amongst high spirits of celebration. This famous photograph, V J Day Kiss has been one to
remember for so many years because the rhetorical elements such as the focus point of the photo,
black and white contrasts, and the body language, which all indicate that this photograph was taken
at an unprepared moment, help to add a symbolic reference that World War II has concluded.
V J Day Kiss uses the focus point of the photograph to symbolize the end of a treacherous war. As
seen center photo, the sailor and nurse are kissing. The use for such ... Show more content on

The picture s absence of color denies the viewer pleasure of an overall picture of the celebratory
moment. When viewing the photo in color, a new perspective is built because color triggers
emotions such as yellow for happiness and blue for tranquility. Moreover, the original black and
white print of the photograph can be seen as dull compared to a colored version. The absence of
color accompanies a cold feel even though the photo is rather a celebratory moment. Even
though the loss of color is a con, a pro would be that the nurse s white dress atop the soldier s
dark uniform because it adds the sense of a center focus. Without the center focus, the key idea
of the photograph (kissing) would be lost. Along with the wardrobe, the color of the photo
indicates the era also. Black and white are typically viewed in pictures taken before colored
cameras appeared in technology so the viewer can assume that V J Day Kiss was one of those
photos.
Lastly, the body language of everyone in the photo can indicate that the picture was shot as an off
guard, or in simpler terms, an unprepared moment. The nurse being kissed has her arm in a weird
position seeming to add the element of surprise. Also the character s legs in the background are
blurry which can indicate that this photo was taken amidst a celebration. Blurred figures are the
support to the argument that this photo was taken at random rather than planned because
everywhere one may look at the picture, there is

How Does Emily Bronte s Use Of Food
In the novel Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte includes the consumption of food, and in certain
situations the lack of its consumption to develop the storyline so further progressions are able to
occur. Bronte also includes these scenes involving food to provide strong symbolic and thematic
qualities to the novel. In the novel, meals are not there to serve the purpose of providing
background information to other parts of the narrative, rather they are included so that the
characters have the opportunity to reveal a new piece of information or to allow the reader to have
deeper insight into how the character is currently feeling in the moment, and where their passion is
leading to. These characteristics are evident when Heathcliffdecides to starve... Show more content

Later on, Heathcliff locks himself in his room which is similar to what Catherine does and he
refuses to see a doctor, and in his weakened state finally succumbs to his death. Nelly, not
knowing of his death opens the door with a spare key and finds him on the floor soaking wet due
to the rain that came down through the open window above him. Bronte suggests the possible
reunion of Heathcliff and Catherine by explaining that the local residents believe that they see their
apparitions walking around the moors together. For the reader to notice and understand what is
occurring because of the involvement of food, they have to pay attention to the tiny details that
take place in the plot, setting, and diction that the author uses. The process of eating has the ability
to show how characters can overcome internal obstacles and enable the reader to empathize with
characters. One of Bronte s goals is to help the reader understand all of the characteristics and
various dynamics that take place during the simple, yet in some cases complex act of

Personal Contiguity And Personal Identity
Personal identity is the unique numerical identity of a person in the course of his or her lifetime.
Identification is necessary and sufficient conditions under which a person at one time and a person
at another tie can be said to the same person, persisting through time. Personal continuity or also
called personal persistence in psychology, is the uninterrupted connection that concerns between a
particular person of his or her private life and personality. Personal continuity is the property of a

continuity plays in the judgment of our ideas, while admitting the importance of psychological
instantiation at the same time. However, the appeal to physiology introduces an unacceptable
element of contingency into the answers to the persistence question envisaged by the defenders

Pension Reform Case Study
The Rhode Island Pension Reform Background There are over a million residents living in Rhode
Island between the ages of 21 to 65. The majority of the Rhode Island population is not employed
by the state nor does an individual concern oneself with state issues (Randazzo, 2013). The
Employee Retirement System of Rhode Island (ERSRI) was originated to cover state employees
and teacher s retirement, disability, survivor, and death benefits (Randazzo, 2013). In 1987 and
1989, the State Police Retirement Benefits Trust and the Judicial Retirement Benefits Trust were

the General Assembly special hearing (Randazzo, 2013). The board met consistently for two
months to review solutions to the pension crisis and actively listen to the public, pensioners, and
state workers for feedback on ways to resolve the ERSRI problems (Randazzo, 2013). All meetings
were publicized for transparency and board members used the opportunity to educate the public on
the new retirement reform bill through radio and television broadcasts (Randazzo, 2013).
EngageRI, a nonprofit organization was invited to join the board to assist with implementing an all
inclusive pension reform resolution and advocate to the General Assembly (Randazzo, 2013). The
combined house and Senate Finance Committee held four meetings that included 30 hours of
public testimony (Randazzo, 2013). Enough information was collected to recommend the current
retirement reform bill. Governor Chafee and Treasurer Raimondo introduced legislation of the new
retirement bill to the house and the Senate. The changes are (Randazzo, 2013): How the

The Early Modern Era Between The 1500s And The 1800s
The timespan between the 1500s and the 1800s is commonly regarded as the Early Modern Era
of European history. This period directly follows the Middle Ages and ends around the time of the
French Revolution, which thereafter the modern period seemingly begins. This specific era
consists of profound and significant developments in Europe s economic history and here we can
see the beginnings of capitalism. This early modern periodexperienced important technological
advances, the Protestant Reformationand the decline of the Church, the formation of banking
systems and savings, nation state building, mercantilism and the beginnings of industrialization.
The economic ideas that emerged during this period are markedly different and some times at odds
with those that prevailed just right before during the Middle Ages. The early 1500 s began with a
burst of economic activity, which is largely credited to the important technological advances that
occurred in Europe during this time, which then led to relatively rapid economic, social and
political changes throughout Europe.
The period preceding the Early Modern Era, the Middle Ages, reflects a society that is much
different to the world we see today. The Middle Ages can be characterized as a decentralized
society where the Church held great influence in both politics, economics and the society as a
whole. The economy placed much greater emphasis on agriculture, with Feudalism as the prevailing
system of society. What came with

I mean for crying out loud my computer is made WITH plastic! Also after reading it I have
started to feel a little bit of guilt. Not that it has me overly messed up it s just got me asking
questions. Such as, How in the world can this issue be reversed? Or Am I compounding the
issue with my own consumer notions? Of course I personally find it disturbing that I would
even be remotely linked to this issue. But I am. Most all of America is linked to it with the rest
of the world following in suit. But I tend to try and put a positive spin on it myself so that maybe
just maybe there is a solution. A clean up method that could work, or a better way of using our
current materials so as to try and make our economy bounce back and stop or slow this whole
water pollution issue. This chapter is now also making me consider whether or not the shrimp I
ate at a restaurant awhile ago may have been affected as well. If it did then what effect has it had
on me physically? Also, another thought that comes to mind is if it has had any major affects
on the U.S. population as a whole? Or if it has anything to do with why our politicians don t
seem to do anything remotely right or close to what they say they are going to do. Then there is
the fact that FOUR MILLION tons of plastic just up and poof, disappear, every year. That in itself

Murillo s Representations of Seville
BartolomГ© Esteban Murillo was a Spanish Baroque painter born in Seville in late December
of 1617. While many of his contemporaries would leave their native lands to seek commissions
elsewhere, Murillo stayed true to his roots and remained in Seville for most of his life, with the
exception of two short stays in Madrid: one from 1642 1645 and the other for several months in
1658. While these excursions particularly the first played a noteworthy role in the development of
his personal style, Murillo ultimately chose to found his Academy of Painting in his hometown.
Murillo was a prolific and talented painter who acquired numerous followers as well as
international recognition during his artistic career. He is best known for his religious... Show more

At the age of fifteen, he began training in the studio of Juan del Castillo, a Venetian influenced
Sevillian painter who went on to only be recognized in history as the teacher of Murillo. In 1642,
Murillo took the money that he had earned by making crude tempera paintings called sargas and
moved to Madrid, where he studied the works of Titian, Rubens, and Van Dyck. He even had the
opportunity to study with VelГЎzquez for a short time, though Murillo never ended up doing royal
court art. He received his first commission in 1645 from the Convent of San Francisco, and he
ascended to become one of the predominant painters of his city over the course of the 1650s. This
increased renown was fueled by a commission to create paintings for the Seville Cathedral. In 1648,
Murillo married DoГ±a Beatriz Cabrera and went on to have three children with her. His works
became high in demand and he received many important commissions, both from churches and
from individual collectors and merchants, particularly those who had come to Spain from the
Netherlands. He died in 1682 while in the process of making a cycle of paintings for a church in
Cadiz. During the mid 17th century, the period of Murillo s rise to prominence, Seville was a
suffering city. The impoverished and hungry citizens were overtaxed in order to fund the foreign

Networks Are Ideal Targets For Hackers
Based on what s been presented so far it should be clear that the wireless router is critical to your
home network. However, it should also be clear that these systems are ideal targets for hackers.
For example, a compromised router can be used by an attacker to eavesdrop on all traffic sent to
and from the router. Additionally, once a router has been compromised, the devices protected by
the router s firewall (e.g. laptops, tablets, game consoles, etc.) can also become victims of remote
attacks. Even technically sound users can find it difficult to detect/prevent wireless router attacks.
In itself eavesdropping an encrypted wireless LAN may seem trivial. However, when combined
with other techniques, the information collected can be quite valuable. For example, with a man
in the middle (MITM) attack, an attacker can place himself between a victim and a legitimate
resource, such as an online banking server. The attacker can then eavesdrop on the messages
being sent between the two parties, and while masquerading (or impersonating) the victim, replay
the captured messages back to the bank server in an effort to steal money from the victim s bank
account. This is also referred to as a replay attack, which is considered a specific MITM technique.
Because the attacker is impersonating an authorized user, by using authentic transactions (or
messages), the bank server can be tricked into believing that the replayed messages are actually
originating from a legitimate

presented through personal desire to use the products and access to the various available discounts.
Additionally, these contractors are not forced to remain within the company; however, they are

Character Analysis Of Gary O s Seventh Grade By Gary Soto
Even though Victor, a 7th grader from the story of Seventh Grade by Gary Soto, is trying to find
his way socially, academically and personally, he is motivated to get his girl but in doing this he
matures and develops. On the first day of seventh grade, Victor s personality is sheepish and shy.
When he was in his math room for his second period, he sat in the back because math was at his
weakest subject. On Victor s way to math class the narrator says After English, Victor had math,
his weakest subject. He sat in the back by the window, hoping that he would not be called on.
Victor understood most of the problems, but some of the stuff looked like the teacher made it
up as she went along. It was confusing, like the inside of a watch. (Soto 4). This illustrates that
Victor is not very good at math and does not want to try harder in math. It is important to notice
that he has not been able to grasp the knowledge of this class and is not willing to catch up. The
moment Victor develops is when Teresa asks if he can tutor her he this sparks that he knew he
did not fail and impressed her in French class. The teacher beamed and said, TrГЁs Bien. Parlez

How Does Orwell Use Power In Animal Farm
Animal Farm by George Orwell is a magnificent novel highlighting what power can really do to a
person or in the novel s case an animal. Orwell makes multiple relations with Russia and what went
on during the Cold War throughout the course of the novel. He also shadows different forms of
government, such as communism, capitalism, and totalitarianism by how the farm runs. In Animal
Farm Napoleon and Snowball the pig are suddenly thrown into power when the animals throw out
Mr. Jones for his poor treatment of them. The animals decide to change how everything runs on
the farm which is good in the beginning. As the novel progresses Napoleon becomes greedy with

For example when Snowball was chased out by Napoleon s dogs relates to how Stalin overthrew
Trotsky. Napoleon is a lot like Stalin in that he overthrew Snowball and manipulated other animals

he keeps changing the Seven Commandments in order to might his needs. For example, when
Napoleon beginnings brewing and drinking alcohol commandment number five goes from No
animal shall drink alcohol (25) to No animal shall drink alcohol to excess (109). This shows that
Napoleon was a selfish leader with only his own best interest in mind. Also Napoleon relates to
Stalin when he begins killing other animals is similar to all the genocides that Stalin committed.

aspects of how they would develop. Questions like whether a colony would be agricultural or
based on trade, what kind of immigrants would come to each region, which colonies would
develop an economic backbone based off of slavery, how stable a colony would be, and what a
colony s basic unit of local government can be answered by geographybecause it was the primary
factor in shaping the development of these aspects of British North America in the seventeenth
century. Due to the geographic differences between the Northern and Southern colonies, the

In the South, its geography lent itself to the large scale production of crops, which as a result
required substantial amounts of labor to tend to large plantations and keep the South s economy
running by keeping up with the European demand for crops like tobacco. This demand for labor
was first filled by indentured servants, people who, for four to seven years, gave up their
freedom in exchange for land once their indenture was over and a passage across the Atlantic.
As soon as the death rates began to fall in the South began to fall though, slaves became the
more profitable investment, and the switch from servitude to slavery occurred. The number of
African slaves sold by British dealers swelled to 20,000 annually (Davidson, et al 67). Masters
could expect their slaves to work for them for more than the four to seven years of a servant for
nothing in return. On top of that, the masters would have ownership to the children that the slaves
had. It was because of the large amounts of farmable land in the Southern colonies why slavery
inevitably became indispensable to its economy (Davidson, et al 67). In the North though, because
of its geography, large scale agriculture was impossible, so the need for large scale labor was not
present as it was in the South. As a result, the north s settlements remained relatively homogenous
(Davidson, et al 92) throughout the seventeenth

The Importance Of Our Thoughts
Our thoughts also are too numerous to count sometimes. Have you ever had an opportunity or a
time when you may have been sitting idle and your mind just started racing from one thing to the
next? Nothing was conclusive. You just kept going from one thing to the next. You were being
bombarded with all of these different thoughts and you could not concentrate on anything.
Understand this; the only thing that the enemy is trying to do to you and I is to bring you to a
place of confusion. He wants you to be confused. He wants you to be so confused that you can t

Influence Of Parenting Styles And Practices Globally
Numerous factors have been studied to account for different parenting styles and practices globally.
The attitude and response of parents to various parenting practices is based on the knowledge or
information they are exposed to or available to them. This study intends to examine the influence of
education on parents involvement in raising their children especially outside of school. Quantitative
method will be utilized based on the secondary data from national survey of parents.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Parent education probably began with the first grandmother in the cave telling her daughter how to

2008).
Research on parenting also has shown that parent education is related to a warm, social climate in
the home. Shumow and Miller (2001) described parental home involvement as those conversations
between parent and child that focused on school experiences, while school involvement was
conceptualized as parents availability for contact with the school. Epstein and Sanders (2002)
looked at both direct behaviors, such as attending parent teacher conferences, and indirect behaviors,
such as sharing educational expectations with the child. Research indicates that home involvement
had greater impact on academic achievement (VanVoorhis, 2003), while regular parent child
discussions about school and expectations had the greatest impact on educational outcomes of
adolescents, including truancy and dropping out (McNeal, 1999). Klebanov et al. (1994) found that
both mothers education and family income were important predictors of the physical environment
and learning experiences in the home but that mothers education alone was predictive of parental
warmth. Although parental involvement is an important contributor to children s positive school
outcomes, much less is known about the factors that motivate parents involvement practices.
Avvisati et al. (2010) opined that due to recent local and national reforms, parent s behavior and

Why Was Edgar Hoover Reluctant To Pursue The Mafia Essay
In contrast, Hoover s rival from the Federal Bureau of Narcotics, Harry Anslinger, sent dossiers to
the FBI on over 300 high level mafia members beginning in the early 1950s. Somehow, Hoover
even remained reluctant to pursue the mafia after one of the most highly publicized mafia
conventions took place Apalachin, NY in 1957. This meeting was portrayed in the opening scene of
Analyze This and approximately 100 different mafiabosses from around the country were at this
gathering. Yet, in that same year there wasn t a single FBI agent stationed in Las Vegas. Likewise,
only four agents from their New York offices pursued organized crimein 1959, while there were
400 FBI agents dedicated to communist subversives. Why was J. Edgar Hoover so reluctant to
pursue the mafia? Obviously, no one knows for sure, but many people have reasonably speculated
that he had been blackmailed by the mafia. Rumors about Hoover s sexuality have spanned
decades. Several sources of those rumors were pure gossip, but some sources came from... Show

Review Of The City Of Ladies
The Role of Stories in The City of Ladies Christine De Pizan s The City of Ladies is
acknowledged as one of the earliest feminist texts. The character of Lady Reason tells Christine
numerous stories about significant female rulers with the intention of helping Christine build the
City of Ladies. Lady Reason tells Christine various stories to expunge the propagated lies men
have insisted upon to maintain their patriarchy. Lady Reason also states that the stories will
serve as a foundation for the city walls; it will be the base of protection in the city. However, the
argument about the city s selective acceptance is brought into question because it appears to
accept the very principals Lady Reason is trying to prove wrong. This assumption is incorrect
because it does not take into account the possibility that some people would be denied entrance
because of past deeds, like committing crimes. The role of stories in The City of Ladies is
essential to the development and execution of the story, which brings to light modern day issues
with gendersocialization and inequality. Christine De Pizanutilizes herself as the main character in
the story of The City of Ladies. Not unlike the reality of her situation the character Christine is very
well read, and clearly an intellectual who values the pursuit of knowledge. However, she faces a
crisis of identity following a revelation that most philosophical and literary works condemn
womankind. She convinces herself that women must

The Influence Of Magic Johnson In Basketball
Most people in the world have an individual that they look up to, someone who they want to model
their life after. For many, parents or celebrities are this individual. Some children even choose
athletes such as NBA players. One of the most influential people in the basketball world during the
time was Magic Johnson. Earvin Magic Johnson was a 6 9 point guardin the National Basketball
Association. With his height and exceptional ball handling skills for his size, he took the NBA by

Magic changed how the NBA worked by breaking the barrier of bigger players playing at point
guard which is mostly for smaller players. Magic also worked hard and stayed determined
whether it was at basketball or school. Magic defied all expectations after being drafted as a first
round pick and after his announcement about HIV, he has been a positive public figure for them
for years. However, his affairs with other men during his basketball career, which was his
presumed cause of HIV, put many question marks on his overall character. Magic Johnson sets
an example for people and children today. Despite all of his hardships in life, he did not give up.
Given how easy losing hope is, Magic s character has stayed with him. Even after getting the

The Pros And Cons Of Human Security
INTRODUCTION
Human security unlike security definition extends to include the many non military threats to
harmony and individual dignity. In simple terms it means freedom from fear and freedom from
want. It s about protecting citizens from persistent threats, building on their aspirations and
strengths, and allowing them the attainment of personal empowerment (UNESCO, 2007). Human
security also comprises of protection from natural tragedies along with environmental pollution,
global violence, global pandemics, forced manual labour, famine and genocide.
However the term human security can be defined in different ways but meaning one and the same
for example: Kofi Annan stated that in its broadest sense, human security embraces far more than
the absence of violent conflict. It encompasses human rights, good governance, access to education
and health care and ensuring that each individual has opportunities and choices to fulfill his or her
potential. Every step in this direction is also a step towards reducing poverty, achieving economic
growth and preventing conflict. Freedom from want, freedom from fear, and the freedom of future
generations to inherit a healthy natural environment these are the interrelated building blocks of
human and therefore national security (Kofi Annan, 2000). Similarly Ramesh ... Show more content

The Hoover Administration And The New Deal
The Great Depression started in 1929 right after the stock market crashed. AT
least 20% of people were unemployed which makes millions of people with no jobs
and it s considered to be one of the most devastating moments in American history. In
1930, the production rate would slow down dramatically. Also, that same year banks
would close and people couldn t get their money back. The Hoover Administration would
give government loans to the banks so that they could payback the people that had
savings in their accounts, but instead, the government loans would create jobs so that
people could get rehired and work for money again.

During the great depression, about 17 out of 100,000 people would commit
suicide a year. This is one of the reasons FDR created the New Deal. When the New
Deal took effect then the suicide rate went down by 10% which makes it 14 out of
100,000. To some Americans and to FDR, this was a big progression. More and more
people would get their jobs back and families would be happy. The New deal helped

Americans a lot. Then the Dust bowl happened, in 1934 a storm went passed the west

destruction the storm made. Many families lost their homes and some jobs were
destroyed, but that didn t stop FDR and the New Deal. Right after the dust bowl, the

The Symptoms Of Jenny s Condition
Some of the symptoms of Jenny s condition was that she first kept a messy desk at school, in
which her teachers would complain about. She then began hiding her toys from her father and
thus, became very emotionally attached to them. After she was put on medication for her
ADHD, she was having troubles making simple decisions such as what to wear for the day, and
had extreme troubles with throwing away boxes, in which she justified that she knew they would
come in handy for something one day (34). Jenny began making excuses like this for other
irrational hoarding behaviors, such as keeping the original packaging for her toys because, she
knew that an item would typically sell at a higher price if it were in the original packaging (34).
She had anxietywhen she thought about losing these types of items, and even had an emotional
breakdown when her mother threw away all of her toilet paper rolls. Once she became engaged,
she began to become obsessed with wedding planning, which then turned her office into a mess.
Even after she had kids, she continued collectingthings that she believed were important, refusing
to throw away anything, which only took over their whole house. She would even constantly buy
items off Ebay or Amazon to hoard. All of these dynamic symptoms combined, described hoarding
disorder, identified within the book, which is excessive acquisition and difficultying discarding
items, which results in extreme clutter in the living environment. This is

The utilization of OOP for the J. Smith Associates (JSA) furniture equipment project could be
useful with additional training of the OOP software. The JSA furniture equipment project will

The OOP software functions as a scheduler allowing a software user the ability to visualize former,

The athlete escaped the pain of watching himself loose his ability. The athlete now will be
remembered as a champion and nothing else (John 1858).
In every stanza some new theme or idea is introduced. The first stanza or lines 1 4 seems to have
an association with the Greek Olympiad. In lines 2 4 the reaction of the townspeople is
established. The athlete ...was placed on an emotional and psychological pedestal... (Ruby230).
This athlete was carried shoulder high through the towns place. In line 3 the men and boys are
single out. This singly out could refer to the Greek obsession and love for the physical beauty of
the male body (Ruby 231). Critic Bruce Meyer believes that the athlete was not only a champion
in himself, but was the champion for the town or this society of people. This athlete is a symbol
of the perfection and idealism that society craves. (Meyer 238). The townspeople adore what the
athlete has done because they feel he represents their people (Meyer 238). The athlete has now
died in stanza two, and moved on. The athlete is still being carried shoulder high but know to his

In western culture, fairy tale is an ancient literary form with simple plot and character setting. In
Oxford Advanced Leaner s English Dictionary, fairy tale is definite as a story about magic and
fairies, usually for children. Fairy tales play an important role in western society which is
regarded as next to the Bible in importance. They are necessary and essential to continue the
cultural customs and values passed down from one generation to another generation. There are
three distinctive features of traditional fairy tales. Firstly, nearly in all the fairy tales, men are
active and dominant; in contrast, women are passive and submissive. Fairy tales are male
dominated, while female is often placed secondary to male, which corresponds to the expectations
about the two sexes in patriarchal society. Secondly, the complexity of human nature is often

The True Beauty Of Society In The 21st Century
Every minute there are about 105 deaths and every minute there s 250 babies born. This is the
reality of the beautiful and brutal earth within the 21st century. No matter what changes we make
upon our actions, history would repeat itself. This unfortunate motif is seen through texts such as
The Book Thief and V for Vendetta which displays key contextual ideas and values that is relevant
and relates to the 21st centurytoday. These contextual values consist of totalitarianism, rebellion for
freedom and oppression.
Brutality to some people is rare to their eyes, but when experienced they are scarred for life.
Within The Book Thief , it is evident that totalitarianism has been a continuous event occurring for
the past century and in the present moment as we speak. Its purpose is to convey a message that
words play a significant and powerful role in manipulating individuals into believing that brutality
is the true beauty of nature. This is represented within the novel The Book Thief , set in 1939 the
beginning of World War II, were the Nazi Party was in control in the movement and the changes
made within Germany. The Book Thief has effectively represented the value of beauty through
Hitler s birthday, in which every individual had to gather and appreciate and hail him as their

approved malaria vaccine. With the new contribution announced today, MVI will support the
development of next generation vaccines that could provide even superior and longer lasting
protection.
I m very hopeful that the malaria vaccine presently in advanced testing will be proven successful,
but that will just be the first step, said Gates, co chair of the Gates Foundation. Now it s time to
take precautionary measures, to develop a new generation of vaccines that are even more effective,
and may possibly someday help eradicate malaria

Lao Tzu Wag The Dog
The government s role is to control a country. However, people have different views of how a
ruler should control, especially over righteousness. In the movie, Wag the Dog, there are two
different political views of Machiavelli and Lao tzu shown. Machiavelli believes that a good leader
must know to avoid bad reputation or they would lose their title, and that is what happens in the
movie. When the president of the United Statesgets into a sex scandal, Brean, a spin doctor, calls a
Hollywood producer to make an artificial war as distraction. The president is in the middle of an
election, if he didn t act up, he could ve lost his position. Lau tzu claimed that a leader should lead
their people by weakening and confusing their determinations.

The And The Bible
Introduction
For centuries predestination has been a meticulously discussed subject which causes many divides
in opinion due to some verses in the Bible being potentially ambiguous or contradictory and it is
therefore necessary to look at this ancient text as a whole in order to get an accurate understanding.
Predestination is a significant topic as it brings into question the nature of the traditional Judeo
Christian God who has long been seen as omniscient (possessing universal and complete
knowledge), omnibenevolent (infinitely good and all loving), omnipotent (all powerful) and
immanent (permanently interacting with the universe). For some, the idea of having a supreme
god and yet a sin filled world is either impossible or simply means that this god is the father of
all evils . Could it be that God is the alpha and the omega (the beginning and the end) but not the
intermediate because he lacks the power, knowledge and love to regulate this world which has
been spiralling out of control since the Fall of Man in Genesis 3? Another reason as to why it is
significant is that it will reveal to us whether we are accountable for our actions or whether God s
sovereignty takes precedence over our culpability. The examination can be fragmented into two
opposing perspectives, Calvinism and Arminianism, which both try to explain the predicament of
predestination in regards to seven key areas: sovereignty, man s depravity, election, Christ s
atonement, grace, man s will and

I Am Charlotte Simmons Character Analysis
In I am Charlotte Simmons, Tom Wolfe accurately portrays modern day college life through his
exploration of the complexities of sexual relationships, academics, and morality as they relate to
social status. Through Charlotte Simmons character and the people with whom she interacts,
Wolfe asserts that sexual relationships are crucial to an individual s social status. This becomes
immediately evident to Charlotte when she gets to Dupont. After being at Dupont for only a few
weeks, Charlotte is kicked out of her room at 2:00 in the morning by her roommate, Beverly
because Beverly wants to have sex with a boy she met; in other words, Charlotte is sexiled. While
she is sexiled in the common area of her building, she meets Bettina, another freshman... Show

Throughout the novel, it is apparent the most popular people are the ones with the lowest moral
standards. This is evidenced through the negative relationship between Charlotte s declining
morals and social ascension. When Charlotte first arrives at Dupont, she is appalled by alcohol
and anything related to sex. As the book progresses, however, Charlotte changes. Soon after
Charlotte becomes friends with Bettina and Mimi, however, she goes to the frat party where she
meets Hoyt. Until this point, Charlotte stayed completely away from alcohol and was could not
believe grinding was considered an acceptable thing to do in public. At this party, however, Hoyt
easily convinces her to drink wine. After this Charlotte realizes that the more she drinks, the more
fun she has, and the more people like her. This became clear less than three months later at the
Saint Ray formal when Charlotte gets drunk and has sex with Hoyt, completely going against
everything she believed in when she started school.
The relationship between morality and social status is also evident with the guys in Saint Ray and
the basketball players. They are the most popular people at Dupont, and they curse, drink too much
alcohol, and have sex. Though she began her time at Dupont innocent and convinced she is
Charlotte Simmons, not to be influenced by other people, the more Charlotte is exposed to this
lifestyle, the more she embraces

1920s America s Ignorance
America during the 1920 s is often described as a time of prosperity and change that allowed the
United States to peak. However, what is commonly overlooked is that this era was conflict filled in
which society was blinded by luxurious lifestyles and the entertainment industry; preventing any
solutions from being formed that could deal with the various issues. It was the people s ignorance
and the problem filled cities that slowly pushed America into the great depressionwithin a decade.
After World War I finally came to an end on June 28, 1999 through the Treaty of Versailles, the
United Statesbecame the most powerful nation in the world since it was the least affected by the
war compared to Europe. In fact, American industry and economy... Show more content on

There were several conflicts that arose, but the three that had the most negative impacts upon the
United States would have to be the effects of the Red Scare, the return of the KKK, and the
increase of organized crime. In the midst of World War I, Russia and Germany signed a peace
treaty known as the Treaty of Brest Litovsk, in which Russia agreed to exit the Great War and deal
with issues back home. Shortly after this occurred, Vladimir Lenin led the Bolshevik Revolution.
This caused the Czar of Russia to be overthrown, in which Lenin became the new ruler of Russia
and set up the very first communist regime. Communism was determined to be capitalism s rival
and abolish it within the world economy, sparking a wide spread panic among the United States
known as the Red Scare. Americans were scared of communist spreading throughout the United
States in the form of spies or invasion. This caused the government to take rash, unconstitutional
actions towards non natural born Americans throughout the nation, commencing the Palmer Raids
and the quota system. The Palmer raids was General Mitchell Palmer s counter to the Red Scare, in
which he used police brutality to crack down on communists, socialists, and anarchists to protect the

Paul Bernardo s Case Study
When Paul Bernardo was a teenager, he became interested in women because of his porn
obsession and acted on what he saw through films and magazines ( Paul Bernardo: Criminal
Biography, 2017). By viewing this inappropriate media, he knew what type of woman he lusted
after; one that was submissive and eager to please him ( Paul Bernardo: Criminal Biography,
2017). Later on in life, Bernardo was known for doing multiple attacks against women in the late
80s in Scarborough, Canada, but became known for the deaths of three high school girls; Tammy
Lyn Homolka, Leslie Mahaffyand Kristen French. Tammy Lyn was drugged and raped by
Bernardo; Karla participated in the sexual acts on her sister and videotaped the ordeal (Butts, n.d.).

Identification means the steps needed in the analysis of unknown fluids to see what the
substance is ( Biology, 2016). Individualization determines whether a certain individual may or
may not be the donor of a bodily substance by examining various markers ( Biology, 2016).
Processing biological trace evidence uses highly complex, automated technology to create a
DNA profile that helps the investigators through the association of suspects to victims and to
crime scenes ( Biology Services, 2017). By using techniques such as polymerase chain reaction
(PCR), forensic biologists can use variable markers found on the regular chromosomes (STR s),
the sex chromosomes (Y STR s) and within the mitochondrial DNA to distinguish one person s
DNA from another to a high degree of certainty ( Biology, 2016). Forensic biologists are involved
in assisting investigative agencies because police were led to Bernardo by a police sketch ( Serial
Killers: Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka, 2013). The police took DNA (hair, blood and saliva)
from Bernardo as a matter of routine to test it against specimens found on a rape victim s clothing
(Butts, n.d.). Forensic biologists were able to name the substances left on Kristen French s body
and match it to Bernardo s DNA by processing it. On February 17th, 1995, Bernardo was arrested
for the murders of Mahaffy, French, and the Scarborough rapes (Butts,

The Application Of Direct Effect
This question concerns the application of direct effect to the facts in question. In particular, Fergie
requires advice on whether or not he can rely on Directive 15/2012 and enforce his EU law rights
in the national court. Fergie takes legal proceedings against Charlston Council to claim
compensation for his injury.
The council seems to have complied with the domestic law which stipulate only that, the caterers
has a duty to eliminate unhealthy food. The Act is silent on genetically modified food. The act also
does not stipulate the percentage limit of the production of genetically modified food. Charlston
Council is therefore not in breach of the national provisions. The directive, however, sets out more
stringent provisions in relation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, directives can only be vertically directly effective: that is, they can only be enforced
against a state or a public authority (Marshall)
In this case, the conditions seem to be met. The Directive is clear and precise as well as
unconditional. It sets out the limit percentage of the production of genetically modified food,
2%, if it is more than 2%, member states has to take all the necessary measures to eliminate it.
The Directive is not too vague. There is no evidence to suggest any conditions are attached to
these rights or that they are in any way ambiguous. The implementation deadline has clearly
passed. Fergie s claim is against the Charlston Council which is clearly an organ of the state. This
is not affected by the fact that in this case, it acts in the capacity of an employer (Marshall). Fergie
s claim is therefore vertical and he can rely on the Directive and the more generous rights within it
in preference to the more limited provisions of the national acts.
If Fergie is not employed by a state body or public body, the answer would be different as there
would be no direct effect, he cannot rely on Directive. The conditions for direct effect are not met.
While the conditions relating to clarity and precision as well as the passing of the implementation
deadline are the same as mentioned above and are thus not reiterated here, the requirement that
there exists a vertical relationship between

black families Essay example
Family is a basic unit in every society. However, the makeup of a family is more complex to
define. There are so many types of families that it is impossible to have one distinct definition in
trying to explain how a true family is defined. For example, there are married couples with or
without children, single parent families, and even families headed by gay menor lesbians. These
may not have been considered families not too long ago, but now must be recognized because we
live in such a diverse society. What I want to focus on is the African American family, in terms of
what they had to go through before, during, and after slavery. As well as, where they are now and
where it s going in the future.

Extended Family
As I stated before the extended family has played an important role in African American families
throughout history. Extended family is made up of the family that is outside of your immediate
nuclear family, your uncles, aunts, grandparents and/or cousins. I don t come from a nuclear family,
instead I m from a single parent family, so my mom usually depended on some members of our
extended family to help get by . Even now, I m living with my grandparents, so my extended
family has always played an important role, at least to this point, in my life. The extended
family is sometimes used as an economic unit. African American families are especially known
for this type of households. It allows the family to use resources and exchange goods and
services, and other things that probably wouldn t possible if they were on their own (Dickerson,
1995). This type of living arrangement goes back to West African cultures. For example, in the
Ashanti tribe young women remained in their family compound because the mothers weren t
believed to be able to manage on their on. So they stayed and received help from the older women
in the tribe and other young mothers to help care for the children (Dickerson, 1995). An extended
family gives children someone other than their mother or father to relate to (Staples, 1994). It can
be viewed as a special friendship that isn t shared with either of the parents.
As effective and helping as the extended family has been, its

How European Law ( Eu And Echr ) Has An Impact On The Uk
Better off out or in?
Gaining an insight on How and Why European Law (EU and ECHR) has an impact on the UK
can be challenging. Before overcoming this obstacle it is advised to acquire basic knowledge on
the founding treaties and those currently in force. The sources of law and their effect will analyse,
whether the UK should remain a part of the European Union or not.
The end of WW2 resulted in the creation of an intergovernmental organization The United Nation,
promoting Peace and Human Rights. In 1946, the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill
announced we must build a kind of United States of Europe . Those actions undoubtedly sparked a
new sense of enthusiasm across Europe and demonstrates Britain s influence on the community.
In 1948 Britain,France,Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg creating a unified defence
alliance after signing the Brussels Treaty and the UN adopted the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights.
An unclear soviet strategy boosted the desire to strengthen military alliances and led towards the
establishment of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation in 1949
The Council of Europe, was founded in 1949 to provide advice and promote legal standards, human
rights, democratic development, the rule of law and cultural co operation.
Influenced by the UDHR the CoE drafted the European Convention on Human Rights in 1950 and
advised on the creation of the European Court of Human Rights.

Effects Of Italian American Internment
Italian American Internment
The internment of non citizens by the United States during World War II included Italians. Unlike
Japanese Americans, the Italians never received reparations. But unlike Japanese Americans, who
were rounded up whether citizens or not, only non citizen Italians faced internment. At the outbreak
of World War II, Italians over the age of fourteen who were not born in the United Statesand had
not become naturalized were deemed enemy aliens. These included Italian businessmen, diplomats,
and international students studying in the United States. In some cases, temporary residents (such
as diplomats) were expelled or given a chance to leave the country when war was declared. Some
were interned, as were Italian merchant seamen stranded at U.S. ports after their ships were

The WRA authorized the removal from designated areas of persons whose removal is necessary in
the interests of national security. It did not distinguish between native born Americans and citizens
of other nations living in the United States; the orders simply said persons. Historian Lawrence
DeStasi cites a number of such cases of mistreatment and internment of Italian Americans, although
he apparently defines Italian American as anyone within the Italian community, be they native
born U.S. citizens or Italian born non U.S. citizens. In October 1942, the 600,000 non naturalized
Italians living in the United States were freed from the stigma of being alien enemies. Members
of the Italian community could now travel freely, own cameras and firearms, and were not
required to carry ID cards. Italy s surrender on September 8, 1943 brought about the release of most
of the Italian American internees by year s

The Great Storm Essay
The Great Storm
At the edge of the 19th century, Galveston, Texas was roaring with a occupancy of roughly 40,000
residents. Galveston had become a flourishing commercial port since the city s founding in 1839.
The Island had surmounted countless tropical storms, which the city survived each time but on
September 8, 1900, the storm that would change everything crashed down.
The 1900 s storm came to town with devastating winds reaching up to 130 140 miles per hour and
storm surges that climbed to 15 feet. The death toll climbed each moment making the hurricane the
deadliest natural disaster in U.S. history so far. Approximately 20% of Galvestons population was

pressure pushed the storm west into the Gulf of Mexico, where conditions were ideal to

  • 3. A Family Vacation A Family Vacation Robbie always dreaded family vacations not because he didn t like spending time with his family but rather the chaos of it all. His older sister Tina barely talks to him because she is too focused on her new boyfriend Brad. His parents Dave and Betty spend most of their time worrying about their jobs. One morning at 8am, Robbie s mom walks in his room completely ignoring that fact that Robbie didn t go to bed until 5am, turns on the lights excitedly saying Guess what Robbie tickets are booked, we are going to Disneyland for our family vacation this year . Mom ! Robbie angrily yelled as he was awoken abruptly with no time to process what his mom had just said. Robbie, we are going to Disneyland ! Didn t you hear me ? At this point in time Robbie jumps out a bed only to trip over his pile of dirty clothes he forgot to wash yesterday. Disneyland?! That s sounds fun but as a family vacation heck no! , I rather go with some friends . Well sweetie that was very rude of you to say, I know your sister is probably very thrilled to be going on this family vacation. Oh, yeah I bet so whenever she s not hanging out with that loser boyfriend of hers . Excuse me Betty said offended that Robbie would ever describe her sister s boyfriend in that kind of manner. You know it s true Mom she could do so much better Robbie says as he frantically looks for his favorite plaid maroon t shirt. Well some things you should just keep to yourself Betty yells as she exits Robbie s room to go tell her announcement to Tina. Ohhh Tina! Mom, I already heard, we are going to Disneyland Tina says as she finishes putting on her sunscreen to go to the beach. From this point on Robbie could only make a list of things that would go wrong on this family vacation. Last vacation Tina got the stomach flu, Mom and Dad spent most of the vacation arguing and we ended the trip early . Before that, I got food poisoning, Tina was just in a bad mood and my parents decided to cancel the trip a week before. As Robbie made his way downstairs to make himself breakfast, Betty stopped in front of him, her smile as bright as the sun. • 4. The Minerals and Chemicals within Glass Majority of glass used in our daily glass from jars, bottles, drinking glass and even windows are called soda lime glass since it uses soda ashes in its production. Glass in general is mainly made out of sand. In fact, sand alone can be fused to produce glass but it requires a high temperature which is estimated about 1700В°C for the sand to completely melt. However, to mass produce glass , other chemical and mineral are added to lower the melting temperature to ease the production. Sodium Carbonate (Na2CO3) also known as soda ash is mixed with sand to produce a product of 75% silica (SiO2) and 25% sodium oxide (Na2O). This mixture will melt and fuse at a much lower temperature of 800В°C. Unfortunately, the glass produced with this composition is water soluble which is also known as water glass. This is not suitable for glass bottle since it need to contain water so, to stabilise the glass, other chemical substance is mixed into the composition such as calcium oxide (CaO) and magnesium oxide (MgO). The chemical mixtures are obtained by the addition of lime stone which produce a pure and inert glass. The glass produced is originally colourless and transparent. Addition of different chemicals into the production of the glass results in different colour like green blue or brown. Most of glass bottle produced have similar composition of chemicals as their ingredients. The composition of chemicals are 70% 74% SiO2 (silica) 12% 16% Na2O (sodium oxide) 5% 11% CaO (calcium oxide) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Rhetorical Analysis Of V-J-Day Kiss For more than half a century, millions of eyes, young and old, have viewed this inspiring photo. After the end of World War II in 1945, two random strangers were photographed snogging it out amongst high spirits of celebration. This famous photograph, V J Day Kiss has been one to remember for so many years because the rhetorical elements such as the focus point of the photo, black and white contrasts, and the body language, which all indicate that this photograph was taken at an unprepared moment, help to add a symbolic reference that World War II has concluded. V J Day Kiss uses the focus point of the photograph to symbolize the end of a treacherous war. As seen center photo, the sailor and nurse are kissing. The use for such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The picture s absence of color denies the viewer pleasure of an overall picture of the celebratory moment. When viewing the photo in color, a new perspective is built because color triggers emotions such as yellow for happiness and blue for tranquility. Moreover, the original black and white print of the photograph can be seen as dull compared to a colored version. The absence of color accompanies a cold feel even though the photo is rather a celebratory moment. Even though the loss of color is a con, a pro would be that the nurse s white dress atop the soldier s dark uniform because it adds the sense of a center focus. Without the center focus, the key idea of the photograph (kissing) would be lost. Along with the wardrobe, the color of the photo indicates the era also. Black and white are typically viewed in pictures taken before colored cameras appeared in technology so the viewer can assume that V J Day Kiss was one of those photos. Lastly, the body language of everyone in the photo can indicate that the picture was shot as an off guard, or in simpler terms, an unprepared moment. The nurse being kissed has her arm in a weird position seeming to add the element of surprise. Also the character s legs in the background are blurry which can indicate that this photo was taken amidst a celebration. Blurred figures are the support to the argument that this photo was taken at random rather than planned because everywhere one may look at the picture, there is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Does Emily Bronte s Use Of Food In the novel Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte includes the consumption of food, and in certain situations the lack of its consumption to develop the storyline so further progressions are able to occur. Bronte also includes these scenes involving food to provide strong symbolic and thematic qualities to the novel. In the novel, meals are not there to serve the purpose of providing background information to other parts of the narrative, rather they are included so that the characters have the opportunity to reveal a new piece of information or to allow the reader to have deeper insight into how the character is currently feeling in the moment, and where their passion is leading to. Bronte suggests the possible reunion of Heathcliff and Catherine by explaining that the local residents believe that they see their apparitions walking around the moors together. For the reader to notice and understand what is occurring because of the involvement of food, they have to pay attention to the tiny details that take place in the plot, setting, and diction that the author uses. The process of eating has the ability to show how characters can overcome internal obstacles and enable the reader to empathize with characters. • 11. The Early Modern Era Between The 1500s And The 1800s The timespan between the 1500s and the 1800s is commonly regarded as the Early Modern Era of European history. This period directly follows the Middle Ages and ends around the time of the French Revolution, which thereafter the modern period seemingly begins. This specific era consists of profound and significant developments in Europe s economic history and here we can see the beginnings of capitalism. This early modern periodexperienced important technological advances, the Protestant Reformationand the decline of the Church, the formation of banking systems and savings, nation state building, mercantilism and the beginnings of industrialization. The economic ideas that emerged during this period are markedly different and some times at odds with those that prevailed just right before during the Middle Ages. The early 1500 s began with a burst of economic activity, which is largely credited to the important technological advances that occurred in Europe during this time, which then led to relatively rapid economic, social and political changes throughout Europe. The period preceding the Early Modern Era, the Middle Ages, reflects a society that is much different to the world we see today. The Middle Ages can be characterized as a decentralized society where the Church held great influence in both politics, economics and the society as a whole. The economy placed much greater emphasis on agriculture, with Feudalism as the prevailing system of society. What came with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While many of his contemporaries would leave their native lands to seek commissions elsewhere, Murillo stayed true to his roots and remained in Seville for most of his life, with the exception of two short stays in Madrid: one from 1642 1645 and the other for several months in 1658. While these excursions particularly the first played a noteworthy role in the development of his personal style, Murillo ultimately chose to found his Academy of Painting in his hometown. At the age of fifteen, he began training in the studio of Juan del Castillo, a Venetian influenced Sevillian painter who went on to only be recognized in history as the teacher of Murillo. In 1642, Murillo took the money that he had earned by making crude tempera paintings called sargas and moved to Madrid, where he studied the works of Titian, Rubens, and Van Dyck. He even had the opportunity to study with VelГЎzquez for a short time, though Murillo never ended up doing royal court art. He received his first commission in 1645 from the Convent of San Francisco, and he ascended to become one of the predominant painters of his city over the course of the 1650s. This increased renown was fueled by a commission to create paintings for the Seville Cathedral. In 1648, Murillo married DoГ±a Beatriz Cabrera and went on to have three children with her. His works became high in demand and he received many important commissions, both from churches and from individual collectors and merchants, particularly those who had come to Spain from the Netherlands. He died in 1682 while in the process of making a cycle of paintings for a church in Cadiz. During the mid 17th century, the period of Murillo s rise to prominence, Seville was a suffering city. • 15. Networks Are Ideal Targets For Hackers Based on what s been presented so far it should be clear that the wireless router is critical to your home network. However, it should also be clear that these systems are ideal targets for hackers. For example, a compromised router can be used by an attacker to eavesdrop on all traffic sent to and from the router. Additionally, once a router has been compromised, the devices protected by the router s firewall (e.g. laptops, tablets, game consoles, etc.) can also become victims of remote attacks. Even technically sound users can find it difficult to detect/prevent wireless router attacks. In itself eavesdropping an encrypted wireless LAN may seem trivial. However, when combined with other techniques, the information collected can be quite valuable. For example, with a man in the middle (MITM) attack, an attacker can place himself between a victim and a legitimate resource, such as an online banking server. The attacker can then eavesdrop on the messages being sent between the two parties, and while masquerading (or impersonating) the victim, replay the captured messages back to the bank server in an effort to steal money from the victim s bank account. This is also referred to as a replay attack, which is considered a specific MITM technique. Because the attacker is impersonating an authorized user, by using authentic transactions (or messages), the bank server can be tricked into believing that the replayed messages are actually originating from a legitimate ... In the British colonies of North America, geography determined almost all aspects of how they would develop. Questions like whether a colony would be agricultural or based on trade, what kind of immigrants would come to each region, which colonies would develop an economic backbone based off of slavery, how stable a colony would be, and what a colony s basic unit of local government can be answered by geographybecause it was the primary factor in shaping the development of these aspects of British North America in the seventeenth century. In the South, its geography lent itself to the large scale production of crops, which as a result required substantial amounts of labor to tend to large plantations and keep the South s economy running by keeping up with the European demand for crops like tobacco. This demand for labor was first filled by indentured servants, people who, for four to seven years, gave up their freedom in exchange for land once their indenture was over and a passage across the Atlantic. As soon as the death rates began to fall in the South began to fall though, slaves became the more profitable investment, and the switch from servitude to slavery occurred. The number of African slaves sold by British dealers swelled to 20,000 annually (Davidson, et al 67). Masters could expect their slaves to work for them for more than the four to seven years of a servant for nothing in return. On top of that, the masters would have ownership to the children that the slaves had. It was because of the large amounts of farmable land in the Southern colonies why slavery inevitably became indispensable to its economy (Davidson, et al 67). In the North though, because of its geography, large scale agriculture was impossible, so the need for large scale labor was not present as it was in the South. As a result, the north s settlements remained relatively homogenous (Davidson, et al 92) throughout the seventeenth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Research on parenting also has shown that parent education is related to a warm, social climate in the home. Shumow and Miller (2001) described parental home involvement as those conversations between parent and child that focused on school experiences, while school involvement was conceptualized as parents availability for contact with the school. Epstein and Sanders (2002) looked at both direct behaviors, such as attending parent teacher conferences, and indirect behaviors, such as sharing educational expectations with the child. Research indicates that home involvement had greater impact on academic achievement (VanVoorhis, 2003), while regular parent child discussions about school and expectations had the greatest impact on educational outcomes of adolescents, including truancy and dropping out (McNeal, 1999). Klebanov et al. The character of Lady Reason tells Christine numerous stories about significant female rulers with the intention of helping Christine build the City of Ladies. Lady Reason tells Christine various stories to expunge the propagated lies men have insisted upon to maintain their patriarchy. Lady Reason also states that the stories will serve as a foundation for the city walls; it will be the base of protection in the city. However, the argument about the city s selective acceptance is brought into question because it appears to accept the very principals Lady Reason is trying to prove wrong. This assumption is incorrect because it does not take into account the possibility that some people would be denied entrance because of past deeds, like committing crimes. The role of stories in The City of Ladies is essential to the development and execution of the story, which brings to light modern day issues with gendersocialization and inequality. Christine De Pizanutilizes herself as the main character in the story of The City of Ladies. • 42. The And The Bible Introduction For centuries predestination has been a meticulously discussed subject which causes many divides in opinion due to some verses in the Bible being potentially ambiguous or contradictory and it is therefore necessary to look at this ancient text as a whole in order to get an accurate understanding. Predestination is a significant topic as it brings into question the nature of the traditional Judeo Christian God who has long been seen as omniscient (possessing universal and complete knowledge), omnibenevolent (infinitely good and all loving), omnipotent (all powerful) and immanent (permanently interacting with the universe). For some, the idea of having a supreme god and yet a sin filled world is either impossible or simply means that this god is the father of all evils . Could it be that God is the alpha and the omega (the beginning and the end) but not the intermediate because he lacks the power, knowledge and love to regulate this world which has been spiralling out of control since the Fall of Man in Genesis 3? Another reason as to why it is significant is that it will reveal to us whether we are accountable for our actions or whether God s sovereignty takes precedence over our culpability. The examination can be fragmented into two opposing perspectives, Calvinism and Arminianism, which both try to explain the predicament of predestination in regards to seven key areas: sovereignty, man s depravity, election, Christ s atonement, grace, man s will and ... • 43. I Am Charlotte Simmons Character Analysis In I am Charlotte Simmons, Tom Wolfe accurately portrays modern day college life through his exploration of the complexities of sexual relationships, academics, and morality as they relate to social status. Through Charlotte Simmons character and the people with whom she interacts, Wolfe asserts that sexual relationships are crucial to an individual s social status. This becomes immediately evident to Charlotte when she gets to Dupont. After being at Dupont for only a few weeks, Charlotte is kicked out of her room at 2:00 in the morning by her roommate, Beverly because Beverly wants to have sex with a boy she met; in other words, Charlotte is sexiled. While she is sexiled in the common area of her building, she meets Bettina, another freshman... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this party, however, Hoyt easily convinces her to drink wine. After this Charlotte realizes that the more she drinks, the more fun she has, and the more people like her. This became clear less than three months later at the Saint Ray formal when Charlotte gets drunk and has sex with Hoyt, completely going against everything she believed in when she started school. The relationship between morality and social status is also evident with the guys in Saint Ray and the basketball players. However, what is commonly overlooked is that this era was conflict filled in which society was blinded by luxurious lifestyles and the entertainment industry; preventing any solutions from being formed that could deal with the various issues. It was the people s ignorance and the problem filled cities that slowly pushed America into the great depressionwithin a decade. After World War I finally came to an end on June 28, 1999 through the Treaty of Versailles, the United Statesbecame the most powerful nation in the world since it was the least affected by the war compared to Europe. There were several conflicts that arose, but the three that had the most negative impacts upon the United States would have to be the effects of the Red Scare, the return of the KKK, and the increase of organized crime. In the midst of World War I, Russia and Germany signed a peace treaty known as the Treaty of Brest Litovsk, in which Russia agreed to exit the Great War and deal with issues back home. Shortly after this occurred, Vladimir Lenin led the Bolshevik Revolution. This caused the Czar of Russia to be overthrown, in which Lenin became the new ruler of Russia and set up the very first communist regime. Communism was determined to be capitalism s rival and abolish it within the world economy, sparking a wide spread panic among the United States known as the Red Scare. Americans were scared of communist spreading throughout the United States in the form of spies or invasion. This caused the government to take rash, unconstitutional actions towards non natural born Americans throughout the nation, commencing the Palmer Raids and the quota system. In particular, Fergie requires advice on whether or not he can rely on Directive 15/2012 and enforce his EU law rights in the national court. Fergie takes legal proceedings against Charlston Council to claim compensation for his injury. The council seems to have complied with the domestic law which stipulate only that, the caterers has a duty to eliminate unhealthy food. The Act is silent on genetically modified food. In addition, directives can only be vertically directly effective: that is, they can only be enforced against a state or a public authority (Marshall) In this case, the conditions seem to be met. The Directive is clear and precise as well as unconditional. It sets out the limit percentage of the production of genetically modified food, 2%, if it is more than 2%, member states has to take all the necessary measures to eliminate it. The Directive is not too vague. There is no evidence to suggest any conditions are attached to these rights or that they are in any way ambiguous. The implementation deadline has clearly passed. Fergie s claim is against the Charlston Council which is clearly an organ of the state. This is not affected by the fact that in this case, it acts in the capacity of an employer (Marshall). Fergie s claim is therefore vertical and he can rely on the Directive and the more generous rights within it in preference to the more limited provisions of the national acts. If Fergie is not employed by a state body or public body, the answer would be different as there would be no direct effect, he cannot rely on Directive. The conditions for direct effect are not met. While the conditions relating to clarity and precision as well as the passing of the implementation deadline are the same as mentioned above and are thus not reiterated here, the requirement that there exists a vertical relationship between ... There are so many types of families that it is impossible to have one distinct definition in trying to explain how a true family is defined. For example, there are married couples with or without children, single parent families, and even families headed by gay menor lesbians. These may not have been considered families not too long ago, but now must be recognized because we live in such a diverse society. What I want to focus on is the African American family, in terms of what they had to go through before, during, and after slavery. As well as, where they are now and where it s going in the future. Extended family is made up of the family that is outside of your immediate nuclear family, your uncles, aunts, grandparents and/or cousins. I don t come from a nuclear family, instead I m from a single parent family, so my mom usually depended on some members of our extended family to help get by . Even now, I m living with my grandparents, so my extended family has always played an important role, at least to this point, in my life. The extended family is sometimes used as an economic unit. African American families are especially known for this type of households. It allows the family to use resources and exchange goods and services, and other things that probably wouldn t possible if they were on their own (Dickerson, 1995). This type of living arrangement goes back to West African cultures. For example, in the Ashanti tribe young women remained in their family compound because the mothers weren t believed to be able to manage on their on. So they stayed and received help from the older women in the tribe and other young mothers to help care for the children (Dickerson, 1995). An extended family gives children someone other than their mother or father to relate to (Staples, 1994). It can be viewed as a special friendship that isn t shared with either of the parents. At the outbreak of World War II, Italians over the age of fourteen who were not born in the United Statesand had not become naturalized were deemed enemy aliens. These included Italian businessmen, diplomats, and international students studying in the United States.
