Argyle Diamonds is a Rio Tinto Company that prides itself in using World’s Best Practices in
the running of its site. As Shovel Service Coordinator Key Functions were to liaise with the
planning and production departments for a timely and safe completion of the planned
service and repairs. To coach the service team in specific tasks and develop their skills to be
competent and consistent in their workmanship and quality of repair.
ACHIEVEMENTS
ď‚· Consistently achieved above target Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) maintenance
outcomes for serviced equipment. That resulted in an increase of machine reliability
and availability for mining production.
ď‚· Co-designed and developed specialised tooling and work methods which were
incorporated into improved Safe Work Procedures (SWP). With improved safety,
environmental and task efficiency outcomes
ď‚· Trained in Frontline Management Cert IV and Rio Tinto in house leadership modules.
Also appointed as back up team leader on the panel.
ď‚· Proactive in organising projects and recruiting personnel for major work that was out of
the planned maintenance scope and budget. Due to an unexpected major mechanical
failure of an O&K RH200 Final Drive it was decided to take the shovel out of service
and strip all components off for use as spares for the two working RH200’s. This in
effect brought the cost of maintaining the two remaining shovel into an acceptable
budget scope.

members were required elsewhere.
