Demonstration of   MicroComp micro-computer gaging system from Albion Devices, Inc.
MicroComp is a micro-computer gaging system. When fitted to a gage fixture it can be the most accurate and repeatable dimensional measuring instrument on the shop floor.
Overview of MicroComp display and controls “ Hard” keys. Used to move selection when in a menu. Analog “Scale” (one of two display options). Digital dimensional display. Information window. W = Work temperature G = Gage temperature M = Master temperature. “ Soft” keys. Function is determined by box immediately above on LCD. LCD Display. Select “Soft” key. Doubles as “Enter” key in some screens.

Operating Mode # 1 a MicroComp as Gage Amplifier In this mode MicroComp is used as an indicator to read and display dimensional gaging results using LVDT or similar input devices. It can be used with a single LVDT….
Operating Mode # 1 b MicroComp as Gage Amplifier - 2 LVDTs … .or with 2 LVDTs in A+B or A-B configuration.
Operating Mode # 2 MicroComp as Temperature compensated gaging system  With the addition of temperature sensors, MicroComp can automatically compensate for the largest cause of gaging error - temperature.
Operating Mode # 3 MicroComp as Temperature compensation system  MicroComp can be configured to automatically temperature compensate other gages, even gages from other manufacturers.

Main menu Pressing the “Select” soft key below the LCD (while “Menu” shows in the LCD box above it) will cause the Main menu to appear. Menu item “toggle” demo With “Units” highlighted you can “toggle” through options by repeated pushing on the “Select” button until the desired option is shown. Leaving an option in view causes it to be “selected”. System menu access To access the System menu, scroll down until its label is highlighted and press “Select”. Setting up MicroComp is strait forward. System menu and Feature setup routines are easy. System menu The System menu allows easy toggle options to  Display Precision  selection (1 to 5 dec. places) and  Channel Configuration . Probe Calibration  is also accessed from this screen. Probe Calibration: digit screen ,[object Object],Arrow keys are used to highlight  digits, “Select” enters digits into the “Entry” box, and “RET” returns to calibration screen when done. Feature Setup menu Using the “Digit” screen that has already been demonstrated,  Measurement Range ,  Tolerances  and  Presets  can be entered here. A  Load/Save  function also allows the storage and retrieval of up to  100  Feature Setups using individual alpha/numeric descriptions for each one. Temperature Compensation options access The “Temp Comp Options” selection  is available when temperature compensation is to be used in any given application. It can be ignored in cases where dimensions are unlikely to be significantly affected by temperature.   • 2. MicroComp is a micro-computer gaging system. When fitted to a gage fixture it can be the most accurate and repeatable dimensional measuring instrument on the shop floor.
  • 3. Overview of MicroComp display and controls “ Hard” keys. Used to move selection when in a menu. Analog “Scale” (one of two display options). Digital dimensional display. Information window. W = Work temperature G = Gage temperature M = Master temperature. “ Soft” keys. Function is determined by box immediately above on LCD. LCD Display. Select “Soft” key. Doubles as “Enter” key in some screens.

  • 7. Operating Mode # 1 a MicroComp as Gage Amplifier In this mode MicroComp is used as an indicator to read and display dimensional gaging results using LVDT or similar input devices. It can be used with a single LVDT….
  • 8. Operating Mode # 1 b MicroComp as Gage Amplifier - 2 LVDTs … .or with 2 LVDTs in A+B or A-B configuration.
  • 9. Operating Mode # 2 MicroComp as Temperature compensated gaging system With the addition of temperature sensors, MicroComp can automatically compensate for the largest cause of gaging error - temperature.
  • 10. Operating Mode # 3 MicroComp as Temperature compensation system MicroComp can be configured to automatically temperature compensate other gages, even gages from other manufacturers.
