Albal is a small, old town located in eastern Spain near the coast. It was founded during the Muslim period in the 8th century and has several historic monuments from that era including an Arab tower. The town holds several annual festivals celebrating religious events and fallas, where large sculptures are built and then burned. The IES Albal school was established in 2004 and has grown to 900 students and 70 teachers offering a range of academic and vocational courses taught in both Valencian and Spanish.
