MARKET WOMAN
The Roman statue is monochromatic. It is one
color given shades with lighting. The marble has a
creamy white color with orange undertones.
The animated character is polychromatic. She is
given a skin color of a light peach. Her cloak is a
dark black with under layers that are a charcoal
gray. Her hair is a white- giving the illusion of age
and grayed hair. All of these colors are muted-
this makes the redness of the apple standout.
THE EVIL QUEEN
COLOR
COMPARISON: The Market Woman keeps to one flat color of the marble, while The Evil Queen is
polychromatic and uses color to give attention to the magical apple.
MARKET WOMAN
It has a biomorphic shape of a human body. Her
clothes are falling off of her and ragged- this gives
the idea that she may be poor. Her arms are
broken off.
She has an older appearance to her from wrinkles
in her face and the hunch in her figure.
She is a sculpture in the round.
The Evil Queen is a biomorphic shape in a human
form. Her shoulders are hunched and her skin is
wrinkled to show age. She is dressed in a cloak.
She is a flat image given the illusion of dimension.
THE EVIL QUEEN
SHAPE
COMPARISON: Both figures are humanoid figures of old women. They both have a hunched feature to
them and wrinkles in the skin to show age. The Market Woman is three dimensional while the The Evil
Queen is two dimensional.
MARKET WOMAN
The Market Woman has the natural texture of the
smooth marble and sculpted texture given to her.
She is given texture of hair, wrinkly skin, of clothes
hanging off of her, and of a basket to her side.
The Evil Queen does not have any real texture to
her. She is given the illusion of texture through line
work and the way she is drawn. Her skin looks
wrinkled, her cloak loose and soft, and the apple
looks shiny.
THE EVIL QUEEN
TEXTURE
COMPARISON: The Market Woman has real feelable texture, while The Evil Queen is given the illusion of
texture.
MARKET WOMAN
Both of these figures are facing to the left (their rights). The Market Woman’s head is facing to the left while
The Evil Queen’s is mostly forward. They both are leaning their weight to their right legs. Both of them have
their left shoulder forward to the viewer. The Evil Queen has one arm forward, holding the apple, and one
bent up towards her face.
THE EVIL QUEEN
VISUAL MOVEMENT/ DIRECTION
CONCLUSIONS
These forms are very similar in figure and forms. Their stances are similar-
one being a freezeframe from a moving picture though. The differ in
color, material, and texture. Both are made to look like old women.
With many years between their creation, the basic institutions used to
create an older woman’s form remains the same.
