Agrocorp Canada was nominated for Exporter of the Year by the Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership for growing its crop volumes year-over-year, tripling its container volumes. Agrocorp's new processing facility in Moose Jaw and partnership with CN Rail to transport its grain products globally contributed to its nomination. The facility is capable of processing 100 metric tonnes of product per hour. Agrocorp International moved one million metric tonnes of agricultural commodities from Canada to various international destinations in 2013 and its Moose Jaw facility recently announced a 150% storage expansion.

Agrocorp Canada, a subsidiary of
Agrocorp International PTE ltd., was
nominated for the Saskatchewan Trade
and Export Partnership’s 2014 Exporter
of the Year Awards (STEP), celebrating
Saskatchewan exporters’ contributions
to the provincial economy.
“We’ve had a solid year of growth with
our crop year-over-year, with container
volumes tripling; evidence of how our
newly built state-of-the-art processing
facility in Moose Jaw, serviced by CN
rail, really hit the ground running. We’re
pleased to be seen as frontrunners by
an organization that helps so many
exporters in such a strong export prov-ince,”
says Colin Topham, Managing
Director of Agrocorp Canada.
Agrocorp’s dedication to processing
quality grain products for the global
market, utilizing CN’s extended network
to get products to their destination, was
key for the STEP selection committee.
The committee, made up of business
leaders who provide assistance to
exporters, sought companies actively
exporting, introducing new products
and services, increasing export sales,
achieving a high export to total sales ra-tio,
creating jobs and having a positive
impact on Saskatchewan communities.

The facility, which opened its doors
in 2013 in Moose Jaw, is capable
of processing 100mt of product per
hour. “This was testament to having a
great team develop in Moose Jaw and
working closely with CN to ensure we
understood each other along the way.
We’ve forged a great partnership,”
Topham says.
Agrocorp International is headquartered
in Singapore and the company moved
one million metric tonnes of agricultural
commodities from Canada to the Indian
Sub Continent, China, the Middle East,
Mexico and South America in the 2013
crop year.
Topham explains that CN offered close
cooperation from day one, helping
Agrocorp achieve their goals, as their
business in Canada becomes the
center of Agrocorp’s global investment
strategy. In addition, the Saskatchewan
and Alberta provincial and municipal
governments have been incredibly sup-portive;
the City of Moose Jaw provided
a five-year tax abatement on the project
which led to an immediate expansion
project. Their Moose Jaw facility also
recently announced a 150 per cent
storage expansion.
