The document summarizes the state of ICT research and innovation in Norway. It finds that ICT R&I is expanding into many areas and growing social challenges. While industry-driven R&I is growing, the public sector shows promising signs of initiating more R&I. Evaluation of previous VERDIKT initiatives found some contributions to skills and international cooperation, but no apparent strategic coordination with the EU. National research priorities emphasize ICT as a main focus area. The Research Council of Norway plans to strengthen Norway's position in ICT through R&I that stimulates value creation and addresses challenges like information safety and health.

The WIINTECH project aims to support 2000 European SMEs and 300 research centers in internationalizing and accessing new markets. It is supported by the European Commission and involves clusters from 7 countries. The project focuses on helping SMEs in sectors like renewable materials and energy, recycling, and green transportation to cooperate with partners in countries like India, the US, Japan, and Brazil. It establishes agreements between European and international clusters to facilitate business partnerships and joint projects. The project aims to set up mentoring programs and business connections to help European SMEs establish operations abroad.
The document discusses the International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation (IPEEC), an international forum that promotes energy efficiency. IPEEC works on initiatives to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and communities. It identifies information gaps, disseminates best practices, and enhances collaboration between actors. IPEEC also facilitates workshops to share case studies on tools and programs for sustainable buildings from member countries. For example, the workshops presented cases on tools to forecast city energy use and plan urban energy strategies from Southeast Asia as well as key issues for developing zero energy housing. Additionally, the document discusses India's Energy Conservation Building Code as an example policy that IPEEC has provided support on by establishing compliance methods and training programs.
Brian MacAulay, Director of the Innovation Index at NESTA, gave this presentation at a workshop on 'innovating out of recession' held at the West Midlands Regional Observatory's Annual Conference, 20th October 2009.

A Triple Bottom Line Reporting Framework For Property Development PortfoliosTony Lisko
This document describes a framework developed for a property development company to assess and report on the sustainability performance of its property portfolio using a Triple Bottom Line approach. The framework uses 9 key performance indicators covering environmental/natural, social/human, and financial impacts. Projects are scored on a scale for each indicator, and must provide evidence to justify the scores. The framework allows for the unique context of different projects while focusing on outputs rather than requiring specific input data. It provides an overview of sustainability performance that can be used for internal discussion and external reporting. In addition, the company's internal processes are evaluated to identify areas for improving sustainability at the project level.
1. The document discusses proposals for the EU Committee of the Regions (CoR) on measures to close the innovation divide in Europe.
2. Key messages include stressing the importance of transnational collaboration between regions, bottom-up citizen engagement, and implementing the knowledge triangle of synergies between research, education, and innovation.
3. Developing attractive regional innovation ecosystems and creating challenge platforms that encourage bench-learning and bench-doing are also emphasized as ways to speed up innovation.
This document discusses the renewable energy market in Italy. It finds that renewable energy sources represent an important opportunity for Italy to reduce its heavy reliance on foreign energy imports, which account for 97% of its energy needs. Renewables currently contribute 12% of Italy's energy, though incentives are still needed for renewables to achieve grid parity with conventional sources. The number of renewable energy plants in Italy has grown rapidly in recent years, with solar photovoltaic plants increasing nearly 50-fold from 2005 to 2010 and overall renewable energy production doubling over that period. The growth of renewables is driven by incentives that make projects profitable and Italy's national policies that aim to diversify its energy sources.

Provoking Thoughts on Fostering Cohesion with InnovationIMP³rove Academy
Europe’s diverse landscape is perceived as a key driver for successful innovation but can form an obstacle to cohesion and growth as well. During the International IMP³rove Roundtable 2015, experts have discussed how to leverage this diversity to rather foster cohesion with innovation than allow diversity to drive Europe apart. Innovation has the potential to foster cohesion.

Understanding User Needs and Satisfying ThemAggregage
https://www.productmanagementtoday.com/frs/26903918/understanding-user-needs-and-satisfying-them
We know we want to create products which our customers find to be valuable. Whether we label it as customer-centric or product-led depends on how long we've been doing product management. There are three challenges we face when doing this. The obvious challenge is figuring out what our users need; the non-obvious challenges are in creating a shared understanding of those needs and in sensing if what we're doing is meeting those needs.
In this webinar, we won't focus on the research methods for discovering user-needs. We will focus on synthesis of the needs we discover, communication and alignment tools, and how we operationalize addressing those needs.
Industry expert Scott Sehlhorst will:
• Introduce a taxonomy for user goals with real world examples
• Present the Onion Diagram, a tool for contextualizing task-level goals
• Illustrate how customer journey maps capture activity-level and task-level goals
• Demonstrate the best approach to selection and prioritization of user-goals to address
• Highlight the crucial benchmarks, observable changes, in ensuring fulfillment of customer needs

M&A
Observatory on Alliances and Strategies in the Pan-European Utility Market
UTILITIES The National Report. It evaluates the growth
policies of the Italian leading gas, power,
waste, and water utilities.
The International Report. It analyses and
compares the competitive strategies and the
M&A deals of the 40 European leaders in the
Gas & Power Industry.
Working Papers. They focus on the strategic
issues affecting the energy world, such as
the global gas market, the cost of renewable
energy or the role played by the grids in the
new era of sustainable electrical energy.
The Observatory was founded in 2001 by Agici and, then, mainly developed in
cooperation with Accenture. Its original purpose was to monitor how the Italian Utility
Industry gathered and rearranged itself following the liberalisation plan schedule.
After 2004, the mission was extended to include Europe.
Today, the Observatory’s activity focuses on alliances and mergers, but also on
the most relevant strategic issues that the companies operating in the gas, power,
waste, and water sectors must face.
Yearly results are presented and discussed during an annual conference, which,
over the years, has become a key event in the industry.

Higher Education
From our perspective, Higher Education is closely linked to the research activity. Agici organizes several annual high profile seminars
and conferences to discuss the results obtained from the studies and researches carried out in the field. There are two kinds of event:
• Open-door, they are typically organised to illustrate and debate the Annual Reports drafted by the R&A Units. The aim is to
disseminate the results obtained through research projects carried out via media channels such as newspapers, the Internet, and
television.
• Closed-doors, they are mainly dedicated to Agici partners and other selected guests. The objective is to discuss the key
challenges for the top-level managers – working in fields such as industry, finance, and government – in a controlled
environment.
We organize tailor-made initiatives at the request of some of our partners.
