Intersectionality is the study of the overlapping (intersecting) social identities of oppression,
domination or discrimination. identities which intersect include gender, race, social class,
ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion, age, mental disability, physical disability,
mental illness, and physical illness etc.,.
Incase of intersectionality of mothers with HIV the mothers does not reveal that they have HIV
due to their cultural problems and does not take treatment for their disease. They have additional
responsibility of taking care of their children and other house hold activities.
The negative effects could be migrated or counteracted by utilization of intersectionality to aid
nurse scientists in knowledge development and inform nursing practice regarding issues of social
injustice and health inequities there by the people under the need have awareness about the
treatment and the need for it.
