Africa Empowerment
Today the Apples for Africa Foundation announces its strategy to better meet the
nutritional needs of people in Africa and abroad. The mission is to provide orchards to
different countries in Africa, and other continents, for the purpose of helping remove the
oppression of poverty to those most at risk. Apples for Africa will use the proceeds to
educate, feed and cloth orphans, as well as provide training for widows. “While last year
we focused on accelerating that Program, this coming year we will focus on increasing
the marketing efforts as well as our Program’s quality so we are better able to address the
individual needs of children in Africa.
The Apples for Africa Foundation currently plants apple trees in 14 countries and sells
the fruit to the people within the country and abroad. The profit made is used to educate,
feed and cloth orphans, as well as provide training for widows.
The overall goal is to provide the people involved with jobs, food and to make them self
sufficient.
A range of essential services from food parcels to psychosocial support are provided to
orphaned and vulnerable children primarily through careworkers, who are in turn trained
to provide care and to build local organizational capacity.
A New Strategy: Get more sponsors and careworkers involved to improve the Program’s
quality!
Apples for Africa’s strategy will focus on two core areas: growing the number of
community-based partners to reach even more children; increasing the marketing efforts
to get more sponsors onboard;
By addressing these two core areas, Apples for Africa hopes to improve the quality of
care and services to orphaned and vulnerable children.
