2. What is ErgoView?
ErgoView, powered by TuMeke, is a motion capture technology tool that helps identify musculoskeletal risk factors. Using
artificial intelligence and motion capture technology, ErgoView helps with ergonomic assessments using video and
proprietary software.

3. Ergonomic Assessment
ErgoView is being used by AF Group’s Loss Control team to help identify musculoskeletal risk factors. It is simple to use and operate.
Comprehensive risk analysis is computed including:
• Summary of the risk using standard medical techniques
• Risk score for each part of the body
• Joint angles visualized in charts for deeper analysis
• Prioritization of tasks with highest risks
• 3D joint overlay to clearly outline areas of risk, body mechanics and posture
• Comparison of risk scores before/after improvements to illustrate the impact

4. ErgoView: The Story
ErgoView, powered by TuMeke, is the result of a long journey to find the right ergonomic tool for AF Group. After years of research and careful consideration, AF Group’s
Innovation team partnered with TuMeke, who has patented tech that uses computer vision for ergonomic assessments. AF Group uses the technology together with the expertise
of our loss control consultants to impact change and keep our customers workplaces safer. AF Group’s Loss Control team partners with TuMeke to give consistent feedback to
make the tool more efficient and user friendly.
Ergonomics is a key component for workplace safety, which is a major focus for AF Group, a major workers compensation insurance carrier. During the height of the pandemic, it
was impossible to conduct onsite ergonomic safety assessments as travel was restricted. The introduction of ErgoView allowed for remote inspections for loss control which led to
the expansion of remote or virtual loss control support for our customers. Current data shows that strains (backs, knees, shoulders, etc.) are the number one cause of workers
compensation claims, so companies are currently searching for ways to improve their ergonomics to reduce these occurrences. ErgoView looks at a variety of tasks, frequencies
and enhances the ability to look at the specific movements each task entails. Our loss control team then analyzes the output from the software and educates our policyholders on
how to correct tasks and movements which may cause problems. This leads to cost savings for the policyholder in a multitude of ways.
ErgoView was designed to quickly identify risk as it can quantify risk for a multitude of tasks/jobs in a very short time. What would have been a few days’ worth of work in the past
can now be condensed into one meeting with a policyholder. Our loss control consultants can rapidly move from defining the problems to solutioning. This is due to loss control’s
expertise in ergonomics as well as the output of the software. What ErgoView “sees” is the same no matter which consultant is using the tool, so it creates consistency and
reduces subjectivity. ErgoView creates cost savings versus having an injury, and therefore financing is more engaged after hearing about this tool paired with the ROI calculator
that in real time shows the benefit of making the suggested changes versus the cost of inaction. Leadership from the policyholders also become engaged in this risk assessment
process because of how easy the output is to understand the output and they have an instant color-coded visual representation of the risk (workstation, job). This is known as the
joint overlay and loss control is then able to analyze these joint angles to translate the risk to the policyholder in a digestible format.
Our loss control consultants have witnessed policyholders make the suggested changes to jobs/tasks after utilizing ErgoView. One manufacturer, who had a material handling
issue, re-engineered their packing and staking unit and put robotics into place to alleviate the risks that were associated with that particular task. This manufacturer was already
short staffed so the employees who were on this task were reallocated to another, safer, task. This created a multitude of benefits including assisting with their staffing shortages,
risk mitigation and worker satisfaction (employees reported being less sore and tired, and happier).
