1. ADVERBS
Adverbs (กริยาวิเศษณ์) หมายถึง คำาที่ทำาหน้าที่ขยายคำากริยา (verbs) คำา
คุณศัพท์ (adjectives) และคำากริยาวิเศษณ์ด้วยกัน เพื่อให้ได้ใจความที่สมบูรณ์ยิ่ง
ขึ้น เช่น :
Jim walks slowly. (ขยาย walk เป็น verb)
Susan is very beautiful. (ขยาย beautiful เป็น adj.)
Susan is very beautifully. (ขยาย beautifully เป็น adv.)
My mother works hard. (ขยาย work เป็น verb)
หน้าที่ของกริยาวิเศษณ์
1. ขยายคำากริยา เช่น
He run fast (เขาวิ่งเร็ว)
Tom speaks Thai well. (ทอมพูดภาษาไทยได้ดี)
2. ขยายคำาคุณศัพท์ เช่น
These flowers are very beautiful. (ดอกไม้เหล่านี้สวยงามมาก)
The weather is nice today. (วันนี้อากาศดี)
3. ขยายกริยาวิเศษณ์ เช่น
She speaks too softly. (เธอพูดนำ้าเสียงนุ่มนวลน่าฟังมาก)
The man drives very carefully. (คนผู้ชายคนขับรถระมัดระวังมาก)
ชนิดของคำากริยาวิเศษณ์
1. Adverbs of Manner คือคำากริยาวิเศษณ์ที่บอกลักษณะอาการหรือท่าทาง
ได้แก่ slowly, fast, hard, well, how, quickly, carefully, …etc.
- She smiles happily
- I walk quickly.
- They play carefully.
2. Adverbs of Place คือคำากริยาวิเศษณ์ที่บอกสถานที่ ได้แก่ here, there, near,
by, around, in, on, at, up, down, …etc.
- She came here yesterday.

- You walk around the park.
- The students put the bags here.
3. Adverbs of Time คือคำากริยาวิเศษณ์ที่บอกเวลา ได้แก่ last, now, soon,
today, tomorrow, then, lately, already, …etc.
- My friend will come from England tomorrow.
- I go to Hua Hin next month.
- She will come back soon.
4. Adverbs of Frequency คือคำากริยาวิเศษณ์ที่บอกความถี่ ได้แก่ usually,
always, often, sometimes, never, seldom, hardly, …etc.
- He always gets up early.
- They usually play golf.
- Ann often swims in the river.
5. Adverbs of Degree คือคำากริยาวิเศษณ์ที่บอกปริมาณ หรือระดับ เช่น very,
too, nearly, quite.
- Jack ate too much.
- I slept very well last night.
- We nearly missed the train.
