 Advent begins on the
  fourth Sunday before
  Christmas Day and ends
  on Christmas Eve (Dec
  24).
 In the Czech republic
it´s the time for different
activities connecting with
Christmas.
We all like Christmas 
 In Czech - Mikuláš is
  often also accompanied by
  an angel (anděl) who acts
  as a counterweight to the
  devil (čert).
 They always visit the kids
  on 5th Decenber in the
  evening.
 Kids usually sing a song or
say a rhyme to them and
  they get some sweets or
  sometimes also some black
coal or old potatoes – if
  they are disobedient.
 On this day the kids go to
   school wearing
„devils´“ costumes and
they have „devil´s lessons“.
It means they do „devil´s“
countings during Maths,
they read stories about
devils and things like that.
It´s always a bif fun for kids
and teachers too.
 On 6th December in the late afternoon
we usually have a Carnival in our school.
 Pupils and their parents come to the school gym in
  different costumes.
 They often wear costumes of devils, princess, different
animals, fairies, witches and so on…
 Teachers prepare a programme full of different games,
a disco, a raffle and the most beautilful costumes are
award-winning.
It´s also a big fun and we all like it.
