Advent begins four Sundays before Christmas and ends on Christmas Eve. In the Czech Republic, Advent is a time for activities related to Christmas. On December 5th, Mikuláš visits children in the evening accompanied by an angel and the devil. The children sing or say rhymes to receive sweets or coal depending on their behavior. The next day at school, children wear devil costumes and participate in devil-themed lessons and games, which is fun for both students and teachers. On December 6th, schools hold a Carnival where students and parents wear costumes like devils, princesses, and animals. The event includes games, dancing, raffles, and awards for the best costumes.
