“We are doing agile, but the only tests we do in a sprint are unit tests” or “We are doing agile, but we have a hardening phase at the end, which is really more of a system integration test” or “We are doing agile, but testing is done by a separate test team.” Sound familiar? Gitte Ottosen says that these agile transition failures prevent teams from getting the maximum value out of the agile context. Failing to create a mindset and environment where quality is built-in continuously and testing is an integrated part of the development lifecycle are risks not only to quality in classical terms but also to the core agile principle of delivering working software of value to the customer. Gitte describes some challenges of an agile transition as seen through testers’ eyes and gives inspiration to practical initiatives: proactively using the testers toolbox to gain a better understanding of the user’s needs, getting tests integrated in the daily work rather than late in the sprint, and introducing test automation. All these activities can get a team started with a more test-infected way of working and thinking—to ensure we deliver working software of value to our customer.

PCB Assembly Prototypes Manufacturer – Hitech Circuits Co., Limited
What is a prototype PCB assembly?
PCB prototyping is the experimentation pilot stage of the product which is to be mass produced at a later stage. This is more of an experiment which is done after the initial discussions and the design. This offers a pre-production analysis of the boards that are to be manufactured, reducing the possible number of errors in the PCB design. PCB prototypes help the manufacturer analyze the strengths as well as weak areas of their proposed circuit boards. Prototypes also serve as a reference point for future versions of the same product. At Hitechpcba, we handle PCB prototype assembly in quantities from one to hundred printed circuit boards.
We have acquired capabilities that enable us to serve our clients better. All these years, we have worked on many complex prototype PCB assembly projects, and we believe the following capabilities have helped us serve our clients better.
Prototype PCB Assembly Services: We specialize in the following prototype printed circuit board assembly services.
SMT: We can provide single-sided and double-sided surface mount PCB assemblies in different specifications.
Plated Through Hole: We offer plated through hole assembly with selective soldering.
Mixed Assemblies: We often work on projects involving mixed assemblies – through-hole and SMT and electromechanical assemblies.
PCBA Testing: All the PCBA functional testing is performed in-house. Over the years, we have invested in various test fixtures and equipment, which helps us ensure the quality of PCBA. Currently, we provide the following types of PCBA testing services:
Flying probe testing for PCB
Functional testing including system and board-level testing
General PCB Assembly Capabilities: Our general PCB assembly capabilities are not limited to these:
RoHS, leaded or lead free, clean and no chemistries
PCB components including various types of QFNs, BGAs, 0105, 0201, 0804, and press fit components in small quantities.
What are the benefits of a prototype PCB assembly?
Prototype PCB assembly comes with several advantages. These benefits play a major role in the facilitation of your PCB manufacturing. Some of these benefits include:
Detection of Flaws Early
With prototype PCB, you will easily detect whatever flaws are present during the product’s development stages. This will allow you to solve the issues thereby saving you some money if you had gone ahead to make the production having the flaws in them.
If you go ahead to make changes during the production, there may be a need for more technicalities, and this may be expensive.

Att: R&D Management / Hardware Design Engineers
Based on Protel / Altium Design Suite I'd like to offer you pcb design on a sub contract basis -
PCB Design Service at your fingertips, 24/7.
How many bottleneck situations could be avoided if one could trust a design bureau that does the
job in a professional manner and at a time frame, not expectable, from in house employees.
Why, instruct a highly paid hardware engineer to lay out boards.
Wouldn't it be more beneficial and more profitable to keep the ball rolling in R&D and let a
specialized pcb design bureau do the work for you.
Over 30 years of designing boards has given me the knowledge and expertise to do my part
properly; the way expected in the Industry and by my customers.
Custom layouts that reach from sky to underground; eg. from planes to mining applications with
their respective regulations and specifications; such as, Mil-Specs, Aviation Standards,
Intrinsically Safety Standards but also general ANSI / IPC Standard.
My layouts reflect an extremely high & professional design standard;
given the opportunity in being able to discuss any design issues with the hardware engineer
throughout the design stage.
To archive best possible layout and circuit performance interim design stages will be forwarded to
the engineer; so optimum placement and tracking can be discussed; while still in design stage.
Design Complexity:
Have you ever seen an engineer starting the layout from scratch.
The answer you may have heard - “I was assuming it all fits - but I just realized, it won't".
I know just to good how much work, time could go down the drain in re-shuffling an entire layout.
Assuming and guessing are 2 words in our vocabulary we can not tolerate in the industry we're in
as both these words could become a very expensive exercise.
An in house 'density calculation program' provides me with an instant, physical pcb density report;
so, "any assuming or guessing" will be eliminated before I even place the first resistor.
A netlist check will search through your provided netist for loose nets & duplicate designators, etc.
Placement as well as routing is done interactively.
All design rules, eg. creepage and clearances, tracking width and spacing, differential pairs, etc.
will be added to the pcb file.
In return I will have an error free layout and the design complies to your specifications.

Physical Packaging Density, Design Completion & Cost of Design!
With respect to physical board area available, component and pads density, an in-house formula
will calculate the 3 most important figures:
1.) Packaging Density
2.) Estimated cost of design
3.) Estimated time to completion.
Just to name some of the benefits when outsourcing:
01. no need to pay wages, overtime, superannuation, sick leave or, annual leave
02. no need to provide a workplace or, secure a workplace
03. eliminate bottleneck situation by taking some of the workload, of your engineers
04. no more disrupted layout sessions
05. faster design completion - thus, quicker to market
(up to 40% faster than inhouse design)
06. professionally designed pcb's
07. instant density report, instant estimated design cost & completion time
(a time saver of hours / days)
08. 'error free' netlist
(a time saver of hours)
09. instant pin swapping within the pcb - without the need to access the schematic
(a time saver of days / weeks)
10. adding new nets within the pcb - without the need to access the schematic
(a time saver of hours / days)
11. 24 hour response to new designs & rework; workload not withstanding
12. peace of mind
Time is Money; Time can also ruin a business!!!
Amongst other delicate issues in today’s industry, “Time”, has become one of the most important
factors; with such an immense and powerful impact in the world of business.
Demanding customer, pressure on initial contract; it’s, manufacturability and delivery time; penalty
rates for late delivery, etc... – a nightmare for any business!
Contracting out pcb design will certainly free up 'Your Engineers time' to concentrate and proceed
with higher priorities of the companies ongoing, world of R&D
Contributing more hours towards, “a single design session” a day will not only result in a qualitative
better layout and tracking, but even more importantly, gaining much faster design completion.
The faster completion, the quicker to market.

Designing PCB’s, for over 30 years will undoubtedly present the necessary experience, qualification,
know-how and professionalism expected, in this industry.
To whom this may concern!
I’ve been designing boards on professional basis, since 1978.
My experience has shown that R&D satisfaction has only come from major effort of the PCB designer
in achieving the best possible layout. Therefore, communication with the R&D engineers is given
first place throughout the whole design process so that optimum layout and tracking results, given
the many issues which must be considered.
These considerations encompass not only the fundamental PCB design rules, eg: high speed and /or
impedance controlled signals, etc.; but also EMC requirements, assembly and test requirements, etc.
Given the opportunity to prove my experience and efficiency, I shall provide and contribute to
excellence in layout and design, manufacturability and time-to-market resulting, I am sure in
complete customer satisfaction.
I am highly motivated, adaptable and enthusiastic to join your R&D Design Team on a sub contract
basis; where I believe that I can make a unique contribution to the success of your business.

Grounding, within the Ethernet Circuit.
Well matched impedance and propagation delay of a feedback Clock

clock signal.
Ethernet Chips may force me to go to 8 Layers
Xilinx Pin-Pitch may force us to use micro-vias.
PinSwapping on the 2 Xilinx BGA’s
This was quite an interesting design. Board size, 233.35 x 160.02mm. By the time all the components
were loaded and tracked it became quite a high density board; taken into account that I managed to
stick to a 6 layers multilayer board. It most certainly didn’t look that way right at the beginning as 2,
160pin BGA’s and limited tracking space almost forced me to use 8 Layers. As I could have never
justified 8 layers, I did my best to avoid it. Re-arranging the layout to create slightly more tracking
space and a different approach of tracking made it possible. The next problem I had to deal with was
2, 100pin Xilinx BGA’s. Due to the actual pin pitch I could not place standard vias, nor could I track
a signal from the inner rows to the outside. Just Impossible. The 2 options we knew of were to, either
use “micro vias” or pay hefty penalty on smaller vias but drilled with 0.2mm. That’s what Printed
Circuit Eastcoast, in Western Australia was telling me.
Well – I didn’t like the idea, going for micro vias, but I also didn’t like Penalty Rates. I had to look for
a decent and acceptable compromise. This wasn’t easy – but I found a way.

Design Constraints Mainly, 2 KV Isolation Issues on the 8 Channels.
Pushing for more space; on board
One of the bigger problems I had with this board was trying to archive a 100mil clearance on 200mil
spaced pins. All the connectors facing the front also needed
2KV isolation. Getting these 8 Channels placed with 100mil clearance to each other was quite a bit
tricky as I also had to consider all of the track work involved.

Design Constraints Fixed location and orientation for all the connectors,
flash card holder and Ethernet.
Height Restrictions, 1KV & 2KV Isolation
This particular design was quite different and challenging.
Restricted by board width, component density and governed by fixed locations of connectors &
cardholder, I tried to place the main components with respect to the flow of tracking. This didn’t look
good at all. The entire bus was back to front. A 100pin Xilinx and the 16bit buffer were the only
chips onboard where the signals could be rearranged. Based on the board density and tracking space
required we placed components on both the sides - “double-sided placement”. Placing the 16bit
buffer, the SRAM and Flash onto the solder side made a big difference to the main tracking; also
freed up component side space, required for tracking. Due to extreme tracking density, but also 5
different supplies I was also forced to use “split planes”.

Interconnection of bus to SRAM
This design was quite ……; tricky!
The idea was to shrink the board size as much as possible. Well, I did; but the board had become a
6 layer board. I just couldn’t fit all the tracking; all of the address and data lines in addition to the
inter-connection of 4 SRAM.
Believe me, I wasn’t real impressed with myself; still –
Out of curiosity I rang the engineer, saying – Wouldn’t it be nice if Mitsubishi would make these
chips in “mirror image pin out”, as well! This would make my life a lot easier; right now..
The engineer was laughing and said that I could have them in reversed pin out – if that’ll help.
I almost couldn’t believe the engineer.
Anyway - Using a set of, “standard” and a set of “reversed pin-out chips” made the tracking so much
simpler and the board to be; only of a 4 layer design; saving 2 layers!

and have proved to be very reliable to manufacture. Robi's competitive rates, his extensive knowledge of
pcb design and pcb process makes his service extremely attractive as a design partner.
NLT Australia; Brisbane - Australia
TJ Botha (2005)
Robi has been designing multiple pcbs for us; to be used in explosive hazardous areas that need
certification by an accredited body to be intrinsically safe to be granted EC EX ia approval. Robi had to
work under tight timeline while having non conventional requirements. The EX ia certification requires
strict requirements and segregation rules in the attempt to prevent sparking between tracks and
components. Robi added a special layer to show this segregation to make the assessment simple and
accurate. Robi's work was excellent and he was always willing to work in close relation to us through
many engineering changes while we had to learn the ropes ourselves. The resulting products are
currently used successfully in the market.
I highly recommend Robi to other companies that may be in need of PCB designs.
Perkins Technologies; Brisbane - Australia
Adrian Ball (1984)
Robi has done the PCB artwork for all my designs since 1984. Quality of work has always been
excellent, as has the working relationship. I highly recommend Robi to any potential customer.

Chris Alfred (1987)
…..; I strongly recommend Mr. Bittler’s work to other designers.
Stallion Technologies; Brisbane - Australia
Bob Waldie (1984)
…..; the work involved dense multilayer boards. We found Robi Bittler to offer a flexible and accurate

Check list, for providing pcb design documentation!
1 Schematic in a single, PDF file format; preferred.
2 Extracted schematic netlist file as file; in 'Protel' format.
3 App.-Notes on BGA and High Speed Bus routing;
Data sheet of non standard & high pin count chips as I may need to verify their data against my pcb
footprint library. You may be able to shrink PDF data sheets to only the relevant info required.
If data sheet contains a table - please mark, highlight the part you want to use.
4 Reliable pcb footprint lib; if you're going to provide it
Your pcb library should, MUST have all SMD footprint on "Center Insertion" and not, Pin1.
5 Placement detail dwg - You may have specific placement; eg. connectors, mounting holes, led's, etc.
Alternatively, you may also provide a pcb file containing already, board outline and fixed parts in
place; and all the footprints loaded - if you're going to do so I must be able to trust your footprints and
their reference outline as I'm not going to verify them against manufactures data sheets - they should
be good footprints; if you've used them, before.
6 Engineer in Charge
As I work closely with your hardware design engineer while in design stage
- I wouldn't mind seeing the engineer on Yahoo Messenger or, Skype; while available;
- have his direct contact, business / mobile number;
- to have a copy of the current project available at his place; at home, as I do work late hours;
- to tell me right at design start the things that may be changed mechanically - placement wise;
and inform me of any high pin count chips / Memory / Altera / Xilinx that can be pin swapped.
7 Once I've familiarized myself with schematic, the parts and maybe restricted placement issues
I will contact the engineer to tell me more about the circuitry, eg. estimated current, any delicate
circuit issues I should be aware off, such as: high speed or differential pairs,
embedded clk signals, intrinsic safe or, any other pcb design constraints that may affect the layout.
8 After loading all the footprints I'll generate a "True Density Report" and be able to not only provide
you with a true, physical density report, an estimate of cost, but also time to completion.
Passive component designators may need to be hidden if density reaches more than 60%; though will
get assigned onto a mechanical layer.
