Teacher: Conceição Dias
Name: Maria Oliveira Number: 12 Class: 12ºPA
School year 2017/2018
2. Introduction
This work arose within the subject of English that is taught in the
12th year of the Professional Multimedia Technical Course.
During this work I will talk mainly of the themes of Advantages
and Disadvantages of part-time and personal testimonies.
I hope I can gain more information by performing this work.
3. Part-time
Part-time is a work that can only be provided in a few days per
week, month or year, with the time being created by agreement.
4. Usually, young students who seek to reconcile their studies with
a part-time job that guarantees them some money. There are
also people who reconcile a full-time job with a part-team to get
an extra income. There are people who have the unemployment
situation, they find in this kind of part-time work how to rejoin
the job market and who knows, they can get a full-time job
contract.
5. Advantages
Flexible schedule;
Possibility of continuing to receive the partial unemployment
allowance;
More time for family, personal projects and hobbies;
Possibility of passage to full-time contract.
Present less physical and mental wear than full-time work.
6. Disadvantages
Not if they receive the same income and benefits as in full-
time work;
Greater wear if there is already another job;
Requirement of flexibility of schedules in certain jobs (by
shifts);
Traditionally they are the first workers to be dismissed.
7. Personal testimonies
“A typical day for me as a paper boy would start when I got home from school. I would
immediately leave my house and cycle to the starting point - the first house of the
paper-round. I would then have 700 magazines to deliver around the estate and would
normally complete one round of 700 after 7 evenings.
I learned that being a paper boy takes real dedication because it is very time
consuming, but also rewarding as you know people appreciate getting their local
magazine delivered.
The hardest part of the job was learning which houses to deliver to and which houses
not to deliver to.
The most enjoyable part of the job was knowing that what I was delivering was
benefitting the people of Cranleigh.”
8. My opinion on the paper boy
My opinion on the paper boy article is positive and interesting.
This article says the boy worked many hours. He used to walk
from house to house to deliver the papers after school. I mean,
he's very fond of his profession, and that's good. If we like the
work we do, we value our knowledge and learning in
professional and personal terms. His part-time job was so useful
for his community that even the people of Crainleigh worshipped
him. That was worth doing, awesome.
10. Conclusion
I found this work very interesting because I learned something
about the part-time theme.
We know that part-time is essential for people to develop the
status of work. Once part-time work learns and enriches our
mind as physical and psychological.
I hope the teacher enjoyed my work!
