These slides would cover specifically on hospital-acquired infections (HAI), and the various pathogens responsible for serious cases of HAI. Serious cases of HAI includes complicated urinary tract infection (cUTI), complicated intra-abdominal infection (cIAI) and hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP). While these infections are caused by certain pathogens, Gram-negative bacteria predominate which accounts to about 70% of cases in ICUs. The healthcare industry is in need of new classes of antibiotics that can treat patients with such infections.
