New Economy Attitudes and Beliefs in West VirginiaMythology LLC
In January 2009, the Create WV team (www.createwv.com) executed a statewide survey of West Virginia households to determine the level of support for key new economy initiatives such as 21st century learning skills, technology, entrepreneurship and diversity. The results were surprising.
I decided to investigate the correlation between the number of hours spent in front of a screen for entertainment and the corresponding average letter grade. I was curious to find out the extent at which entertainment affects a student letter grade. I did this posing these questions to the respondent:
What is your average letter grade in school?

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Acetabularia Information For Class 9 .docxvaibhavrinwa19
Acetabularia acetabulum is a single-celled green alga that in its vegetative state is morphologically differentiated into a basal rhizoid and an axially elongated stalk, which bears whorls of branching hairs. The single diploid nucleus resides in the rhizoid.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

1. Some people think that economic studies are a tool for a higher paycheck since students
learn how to make money. However, after several years of college study, some students
might be disappointed to discover that college economics are fundamental theory teachings
that do not necessarily provide better job opportunities or higher paycheck.
I chose economics as my major not because I am money-driven. I was born with a silver
spoon in my mouth. My family chose expensive courses in New York University to shape me
into a well-rounded individual.
I like economics because they make me optimistic. When I look at developing countries,
especially my home country China, I see that people have been lifted out of poverty since
1978 because China moved towards the market-based economy. This far, it played in
country’s favor. Capitalism has produced the highest standard of living in the history of
China. Application of advanced economic theories enriched Chinese people’s knowledge and
made my country’s GDP and GNP escalate at an amazing rate. Because economy developed
so well my family became wealthy and gave me the opportunity to go abroad to the other
continent. I believe that I should be equipped with advanced and modern knowledge to keep
on developing my family’s business and help those who are less fortunate.
Subject of economics interests me because it teaches me to respect and appreciate
diversity. Economics have something valuable for everyone who wants to study. People
around the world hold different values and have different outlooks. Poor students can become
knowledgeable and build a better life that will enable them to afford things that they were
deprived of during their childhood. Rich people and dream-seekers learn abut economics to
quench curiosity and broaden their horizons with new ideas and experiences. Discussions
with my classmates inspire me and give me a lot of new ideas. I think this is very important
for a student’s development. The reason I chose University of Southern California is that it is

a private University located in a metropolitan city, like New York University where I studied
previously. I think that there are many intelligent students in USC, and I can find friends to
study together and learn from each other. Conducive environment and high quality of
teaching are important for me. I studied for one year in public school that was located far
from the big city. It was a quiet place with limited opportunities for students’ studies and
making new friends. I believe that life in a big city like New York or Los Angeles is more
suitable for me.
I am a big admirer of Steve Jobs. His Apple enterprise is changing the world. Some
Chinese entrepreneurs and investors try to make money without thinking about greater good.
Some Chinese people become rich because they give bribes; do illegal operations with real
estate or on the stock market. I do not envy them. To the contrary, Steve Jobs invented and
produced products and different gadgets of a superior quality. He built his business because
he worked smart and diligent. Also, he knew how to develop people’s talents for the benefit
of the company. I want to become like Steve Jobs.
My future career’s goal is to help my father to develop a wind power generation
company in Xin Jiang. I visited his company plants in Urumqi. I saw giant aero vanes that
measure speed of the wind and generate electricity. Special cables transmit electricity from
West China to East China. Xin Jiang area is rich with oil, gas and electricity. Some resources
are unsustainable. For example, oil is depleting, and one day it will run out. My father is a
person who thinks long term and appreciates the value of things that can stand the test of
time. Hence, he did not choose to invest into developing unsustainable resources. Wind
power is a sustainable resource and source of energy. Once aero vanes are in place, unlimited
wind power will produce unlimited electricity. The Eastern part of China is more densely
populated than Western part. However, Eastern China has much fewer resources than the
Western part. Certainly, my father’s efforts will help alleviate the energy imbalance between

different parts of China and decrease further pollution caused by extraction of oil and burning
of coal. My father and I are very enthusiastic about his company, and I wish to continue my
study of economics at USC to make friends with people who have a similar vision and goals.
I believe it will equip me better with knowledge and experience. I know that there will be
obstacles to overcome since the company just started operating a year ago. Nevertheless, I am
confident that I will succeed in building my career and making my father’s and my dream
come true.
