This document summarizes preliminary findings from Drinkaware's 2014 survey on drinking attitudes and behaviors in the UK. It identifies 5 segments of UK adult drinkers based on risk levels, moderation techniques, drinking motivations, well-being, and demographics. The segments range from "comfortable social drinkers" who are mostly low-risk and drink for social reasons, to "risky social and coping drinkers" who are more likely to be increasing/high risk and drink to cope or conform. Overall drinking levels and risk behaviors vary across age groups.
The Drinkaware Digital team aims to:
1) Support Drinkaware's activities through digital channels;
2) Increase access to information and advice; and
3) Deliver innovative solutions to reduce alcohol harm.
The team analyzes digital data to understand audiences, inform messaging, and measure effectiveness. Their work has significantly increased Drinkaware's online reach and engagement. Testing different message frames found appearance-focused warnings increased health-seeking behavior more than health-focused warnings. Insights from data are used to refine interventions and personalize support through mobile apps and online tools.
This document from the World Health Organization provides guidelines for HIV testing, counseling, and care for adolescents living with HIV. It aims to improve access to services and recommends:
1) Making HIV testing and counseling available, accessible, and voluntary for all adolescents as part of routine health services.
2) Ensuring adolescents living with HIV receive support for disclosure, adherence to antiretroviral therapy, and retention in ongoing care.
3) Delivering services to adolescents in a developmentally appropriate, gender-sensitive, rights-based and supportive manner.
This survey of 300 doctors in Greater Jakarta area found that:
1) Online media is the most trusted source of medical information for doctors, followed by medical journals and seminars.
2) The internet has significantly influenced doctors' practice by allowing them to obtain information faster and be more active in seeking and sharing information.
3) Patients are increasingly looking up health information online, making them more informed but also more opinionated. Doctors have had to improve communication to discuss information patients find online.
4) While the internet provides many benefits, patient education remains a challenge requiring materials and training for doctors in properly educating patients.

Instagram became very big in Asia especially in Thailand. So how about Vietnam? We ran the survey to more than 2000 people to find out if Facebook kingdom of Vietnam will become different
A survey of 518 Vietnamese aged 16-49 found that:
- 27% were regular book readers, with males preferring technology books and females preferring novels.
- 32% read magazines regularly, with males aged 25-49 having the highest rate.
- 16% read newspapers regularly, with youth more likely to read them at home and elders in offices.
- Tuoi Tre and Thanh Nien were the most popular newspapers.
The document discusses the social determinants of health that influence HIV risk and outcomes, including early childhood development, education, employment, income, food/housing security, health/transportation access, social exclusion, and stigma. It notes that people living with HIV often experience high levels of stigma, leading to negative consequences like reduced testing/treatment, financial/social difficulties, and poorer mental/physical health. Intimate partner violence is also discussed as putting individuals at increased risk for HIV through barriers to condom negotiation, abuse if condoms are used, and health effects that weaken the immune system.
Getting to scale: How we can achieve the reach required of prevention service...HopkinsCFAR
This document discusses disparities in HIV/STI rates among Black and White MSM in Atlanta from 2009-2014. The study found significantly higher rates of new HIV infections, prevalent HIV infections, and STIs among Black MSM compared to White MSM. Factors contributing to the disparities included higher community-level HIV prevalence among Black MSM networks, increased likelihood of Black MSM encountering an HIV-positive partner, geographic clustering of Black MSM in high-poverty/high-stigma neighborhoods, and higher rates of condom failures or incomplete use among Black MSM. The document advocates for scaling up multiple prevention interventions like PrEP to achieve sufficient coverage levels to meaningfully reduce new HIV transmissions.
This document provides information about HIV/AIDS, including:
- HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus and is transmitted between humans. It causes AIDS by weakening the immune system.
- AIDS stands for Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome and is the final stage of HIV infection where the immune system is severely damaged.
- HIV is found in certain body fluids and transmitted most commonly through unprotected sex and sharing needles. It cannot be transmitted through casual contact.
- Prevention methods include condoms, testing, treatment of other STIs, and education to reduce risk behaviors. While treatment can suppress HIV, there is currently no cure for AIDS.
This document summarizes a presentation given to youth leaders on HIV risks and vulnerabilities. It discusses definitions of key terms, facts about HIV and AIDS, how HIV is transmitted, risks faced by out-of-school youth, impacts of HIV/AIDS, epidemiology of HIV in the Philippines, and examples of interventions youth can support like peer education and promoting condom use. The overall goal is to inform youth leaders so they can help prevent the spread of HIV in their communities.
This presentation provides an overview of stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) in Ghana. The objectives are to understand the forms of stigma, appreciate its impact, and find ways to end it. HIV prevalence in Ghana is consistently over 1% and it is a generalized epidemic. Stigma negatively impacts PLHIV's quality of life and ability to access healthcare. It takes many forms including self-stigma, governmental stigma through discriminatory policies, healthcare stigma like denial of care, and stigma in employment and communities through social isolation and rejection. Ending stigma is critical to effectively respond to the HIV epidemic in Ghana.

1) The document outlines a plan for an education program on HIV/AIDS in Nepal. It includes an introduction to HIV/AIDS, problem statement on prevalence in Nepal, objectives to reduce transmission and stigma through education, and an evaluation plan.
2) A needs assessment identifies risk factors like unsafe sex, lack of access to healthcare, and stigma. The program's goals are to reduce infection rates, increase access to treatment, and coordinate national response.
3) The education program will provide information on transmission, prevention, treatment services, and address stigma through activities like discussion, counseling, and role-playing with targets like key populations and the community.
The document provides guidance for individuals diagnosed with HIV/AIDS on how to live with their diagnosis. It discusses the need for lifestyle changes like improved nutrition, exercise and safer sex practices. It also emphasizes the importance of communicating one's status to close relationships and seeking counseling to cope with potential depression and stigma. Support groups and healthcare services are recommended to help patients manage their condition and quality of life.
This document discusses disparities in HIV among men who have sex with men (MSM) and the role of social determinants. It notes that addressing social conditions and drivers of HIV vulnerability through structural approaches is a key part of moving from an emergency response to a long-term response for AIDS. Several findings are highlighted: MSM have much higher HIV prevalence than general populations in many countries; criminalization of homosexuality and lack of funding targeting MSM undermine HIV prevention efforts; and experiences of discrimination, financial hardship and lack of social support are associated with higher risk sexual behaviors among MSM. Overall, the document emphasizes that effectively addressing the social drivers of the HIV epidemic among MSM through structural interventions is important for reducing disparities.
