INTERESTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
I have a keen interest in photography. In my first year of college I Studied photography
and was immediately hooked onto it. I bought my own DSLR camera, lenses, other
equipment and accessories and still use a majority of the money I earn on adding to my
equipment. More specifically I like to do landscape photography with a keen interest to
learn about night photography. I enjoy creating time-lapse images using long exposures
and collating the images on Photoshop to create a sense of time on a still image. I have
created some work that I have been paid for previously, for example I have taken photos
of local family companies that have been started up and they used me to take the images
to use on their either websites or leaflets to publicise their brand. Moreover I was used as
a second wedding photographer for a close family member alongside an actual wedding
photographer, who I leant a lot from just watching and seeing how she moved, how she
framed shots and what kits they used. For college I was also asked to photograph an
event at Dukinfield town hall for a Nurse group which involved taking candid photos of
families and workers aswell as portrait photos of some of the people who attended and
cover the event for their online marketing. I also took all the images and edited them in
my own time after college whilst I was also working for units for college during the day.
recently, I have tried my hand at Videography as well as Photography. This is a new world
for me because the scope of difference between filming and photo taking is a whole
different type. However being enrolled on the Level 3 BTEC Media course I have already
learnt a lot in a short little time which is down to my eagerness to learn in this subject
area. So far in my first year I have created a 30 Second Advert, a Corporate Video and a
Music Video. Of which I directed and filmed all of them except one, as I directed and acted
in it and relied on peers to support me through my unit. All of my Videos were graded at
Distinction and receivedfeedback from teachers regarding their thoughts and possible
improvements.from Photography with it being my main topic of interest and something
that I do a lot in my spare time, I also like to occupy myself with sport, physical fitness
and watching football. Being an avid fan of Manchester United, I often find myself going to
every home match with a handful of away trips. I even at times take my camera with me
to try and take photos in the ground and get some candid fan shots, of things that
professional photographers cannot get.
