Students are asked to develop an action plan for gathering and using data to inform decisions about integrating technology, instructional leadership, professional development, and organizational leadership. The action plan must include an organizational chart, comprehensive professional development plans, and an evaluation plan to assess progress. Students will post their action plans online and review one other student's plan. The rubric outlines criteria for accomplished, proficient, progressing, and not meeting expectations in areas like the organizational chart, professional development plans, and evaluation plan.

Week 4 Assignment: Due at the end of Week 4.
Overview
Last week, you engaged in an analysis and wrote a report describing the use of technology and
information systems to enrich campus curriculum, enhance teaching and learning, and generally
integrate technology into our campus improvement plans to effectively integrate technology and
instructional leadership. Your analysis and report should provide the necessary background for
the Week 4 major assignment – developing an action plan for gathering, analyzing, and using
data from a variety of sources for informed campus decision making focusing on integrating
technology, instructional leadership, professional development and organizational leadership.
As a result of this week’s assignments, you will be able to:
• Examine and assess procedures for gathering, analyzing, and using data from a variety
of sources for informed decision making regarding the integration of technology,
instructional and organizational leadership (SBEC Principal Competency 7 indicator);
• Design and apply skills for monitoring and evaluating change and making needed
adjustments to achieve the campus vision and goals, including the integration of
technology as described above (SBEC Principal Competency 7 indicator).
Both of these outcomes are elements of Domain II, Instructional Leadership.
In writing your Week 4 action plan, use your interviews, your readings, including campus and
district improvement plans as well as any technology plans, and your Week 3 report to make
sure the action plan:
• Identifies data gathering sources;
• Provides a description of an organizational chart describing decision making
responsibilities regarding the integration of technology from central office personnel to
campus leadership and staff;
• Describes comprehensive professional development activities to achieve your action
plan (this may utilize information from the previous three weeks of readings and
activities);
• Includes an evaluation plan to assess the progress and success of the action plan.
Students will be asked to post their action plan on the Discussion Board and each student must
review and comment on at least one other action plan focusing on organizational leadership
designed to maximize the use of technology in data gathering and decision making.

Using the campus and district improvement plans, and any suggested technology
improvements, develop an organization chart that includes the following:

Director of Technology Pete Eldridge- Manages current Technology Department to
support the achievement of the business and educational goals of the District by
providing technology and resources and by building staff skills.
Network Engineer Jeremy Scryba- Provides technical support on a variety of issues.
Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems. Responds to escalations from
network administrators via telephone calls, email and personnel requests for technical
support. Documents, tracks, and monitors the problem to ensure a timely resolution.
Desktop Support Robert Johnson- Configures, assembles and installs microcomputers,
workstations and/or peripheral equipment while performing first line support for
desktops and laptops such as printing, power outages, wiring problems, and
malfunctioning end user devices. Escalates unresolved problems to expedite resolution
and reates and maintains user login identification (userid) information and login scripts.
Campus Principals- Instructional leader for the campus and the final decision maker for
campus material. Principals are responsible for implementing and imposing changes to
curriculum where staff integrates technology. Principals must also assess
implementation of technology and provide staff development in areas of weakness.
Campus Assistant Principals- Works in conjunction with the principal to oversee
implementation of technology use in the classroom. Assists prinicipal in providing staff
development and support to teachers.
Campus Counselor- School counselors develop and implement data/needs-driven,
standards-based and research-supported programs, and engage in continuous program
evaluation activities. School counselors analyze outcome data to guide future action
and improve future results for all students.
Professional Teachers- Teachers should make sure every student has access and the
skills necessary to use technology to learn appropriate academic, life and career skills,
in and out to the classroom. Teachers are responsible for integrating technology into the
curriculum and following the state mandated TEKS for curriculum and technology.

Campus Support Staff- Working in conjunction with teachers assists in providing a safe
environment using technology to promote better teaching and learning within the
classroom.
Students- Students will continuously utilize technology within the learning environment
while adhering to safety and ethical standards. Using technology resouces students will
assist parents to participate more directly in their children’s education outside the school
environment.
The role of the principal in making sure the organizational chart is implemented
and monitored is as instructional leader for the campus, the principal is the final
decision maker for campus material. Principals are responsible for implementing
and imposing changes to curriculum where staff integrates technology. Principal
must adhere to the Instructional Technology Plan while aligning curriculum,
instruction, and assessment. Principals must also assess implementation of
technology and provide staff development in areas of weakness.

Week 4 Assignment, Part 2: Professional Development Planning
Using the campus and district improvement plans, and any suggested technology
improvements, develop professional development activities that include the following:
• Reference analysis and lessons learned about the technology needs from the Week 3
report;
• Addresses professional development designed to improve the gathering, analysis and use
of data from a variety of sources;
• Includes professional development to improve decision making in the integration of
technology with instructional and organizational leadership.
Professional Development Planning should be based on an on-going assessment of
each campus. Each campus’ professional development should address data including
student, campus, and district achievement data from AEIS, STaR Chart, Campus
Improvement Plans, District Technology Plans and any other applicable data sources.
Campus will utilize STaR Chart data to determine campus instructional technology
needs using the online STaR Chart as its resource.
Utilize AEIS-IT data for analysis. The use of this program will analyze data which is
filed on campus along with plan of action to improve instruction.
Staff Development to support instructional goals should provide opportunities for
educators to stay current on technology. It should also offer training for staff to develop
model practices using technology. In addition, Staff Development should demonstrate
and practice how to examine and utilize electronic student data to make sound
educational and instructional choices. These opportunities use Region 10 and AEIS-IT
as resources.
Kemp ISD provides professional development activities:
In addition to formal workshops in technology in the district, at the regional service
center, and with other professional presenters, informal small group and on-on-one
training is given to educators when assistance is needed. This informal training
includes guidance, support, modeling, and lesson planning.
Week 4 Assignment, Part 3: Evaluation Planning for Action Plan
The technology action plan integrating instructional an organizational leadership must include

• Uses data and other analysis from the Week 3 report, including using the campus and
district improvement plans, and local or state technology plans;
• Provides assessments and/or monitoring reports measuring professional development
designed to use technology to improve the gathering, analysis and use of data from a
variety of sources;
• Provides assessments and/or monitoring evaluating professional development to improve
decision making in the integration of technology with instructional and organizational
leadership.
The technology committee will meet at least two times per year to evaluate the plan as
to its progress towards stated goals and pertinence to current district goals. An update
report will be made available to the Superintendent and other interested parties. The
Texas STaR chart results will be studied once a year. Attention will be paid to year-to-
year progress towards district goals as well as the appearance of any new areas of
concern or interest. Campus principals will also monitor lesson plans and classroom
performance for evidence of technology integration. The technology committee and the
Director of Technology will assist the Principals in developing this report. Additional
methods of assessment to monitor plan implementation will include student/staff
surveys and reports and recommendations from the District and Campus Improvement
Teams. Budgets, purchase orders, and other financial data will be used to document
technology funding. Inventories of existing equipment will substantiate movement
toward new and emerging technologies. Staff participation in technology training will be
monitored by sign-in sheets, certificates, and professional staff development offering
records.
To measure the success of the Kemp ISD Technology Plan the following will occur:
 Interviews and surveys will determine student and staff knowledge and success
with targeted objectives.
 Observation will be used to assess application of learned skills.
 Learned skills will also be evaluated through completed projects.
 Observation and monitoring of teacher lesson plans for use of technology will
occur.

 Texas STaR Chart will be an indicator of teachers’ use of technology.
 Technology committee will review plan and data gathered a minimum of twice
yearly to assure effectiveness in classroom implementation and instruction.
 Inventories and financial records will be used to evaluate equipment and
services.
 Adjustments to budget requests will be made when needed to provide for arising
needs recommended by campus principals, teacher/staff requests, campus
improvement teams, technology committee, and/or Director of Technology.

Week 4 Assignment, Part 4: Posting your Action Report and Responding to
Other Students’ action plans
Using the discussion board and the blog that you have developed, please write and post
your action plan, and be sure to:
• Read and review at least two other action plans
• Respond to other action plans by posting your comments and reflections
The purpose of the action report is to provide you with recommended procedures for
gathering, analyzing, and using data from a variety of sources for informed campus decision
making focusing on the effective integration of technology in curriculum, instruction,
assessment and professional development. Students may wish to use this action plan as
one of your school improvement projects for your Electronic Portfolio. You may also use the
Week 3 and Week 4 assignments as campus supervised hours for your internship logs. As
indicated these two weeks fall under Domain II, Instructional Leadership, and address
elements of Competencies 4, 5 and 7.
