An action plan provides a comprehensive way for mentors and beginning teachers to monitor progress across various goals. The action plan should include clear expectations, pre- and post-observation meetings to discuss lessons, and plans for classroom practice improvement. There are three steps to completing an action plan: 1) create the plan based on the teacher's needs, 2) follow the timeline and reflect on progress, and 3) use the plan to guide next steps. The action plan is used throughout the year to focus mentor-mentee conversations and can be developed collaboratively. Professional development should also be aligned to the goals and needs in the action plan.
