ACT OF MAN VS HUMAN ACT
HUMAN ACTS
are actions which man
performs knowingly,
freely, and voluntarily.
ACTS OF MAN
actions that happen in
man. They are instinctive
and are not within the
control of a will.
ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES OF
THE HUMAN ACT
ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES OF THE
HUMAN ACT
It must be performed by a
conscious agent who is aware of
what he is doing and of its
consequences.
ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES OF THE
HUMAN ACT
It must be performed by an agent who
is acting freely; that is, by his own
volition and powers. An action done
under duress and against one’s will is
not entirely a free action.
ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES OF THE
HUMAN ACT
it must be performed by an agent who
decides willfully to perform the act. This
willfulness is the resolution to perform an
act now or in future time.
MODIFIERS OF THE HUMAN
ACTS
IGNORANCE
the absence of
knowledge that a
person ought to
possess.
PASSIONS AND CONCUPISCENCE
the tendencies away from undesirable
or harmful things. The former are
called positive emotions, while the
latter are negative emotions.
FEAR
the disturbance of the mind of a
person who is confronted by an
impending danger or harm to
himself or to his loved ones.
A HABIT
as defined by Glenn, “is lasting
readiness and facility, born of
frequently repeated acts, for acting
in certain manner.”
“A young woman consents to
an abortion because she is sure
her parents will not help if she
carries the baby to term,
besides, she believes it will save
her modeling career.”
QUESTIONS
What is the
intention or motive
of the person in
the situation?
Is her action
acceptable or
not?
THE PARABLE OF THE GOOD
SAMARITAN
2 CORINTHIANS 1:12-14
There is something we are proud of our
conscience that tells us that we have lived in this
world with openness and sincerity that comes
from God. We are guided not by human motives
but by the grace of God, especially in relation to
you.
LUKE 10:25-37
In the story, a Jew was robbed and
left to die by his assailants. Two
highly respected men passed by
him but decided to walk away.
Then a Samaritan came along. Unlike
the other two, he tended to the
man’s wounds and brought him to
an inn. Then he gave money to the
innkeeper saying, “Look after him
and when I return, I will reimburse
you for any expense you may have.”
